Harry was startled to see Draco Malfoy standing in the doorway of the Gryffindor boys dorm. He felt a fire burning in his lungs. He had thought Sirius was here, but it was just his enemy. He had almost never felt more angry if it weren't for all he had endured in the past year.
"What are you doing here?" Harry had not said nicely.
Draco looked abashed. "I sent you here to talk, my friend."
"We are not friends."
Draco pursed his lips with a smile underneath, his eyes glossy under the fire's light.
"If you think so," He started to step towards the raven haired boy, but Harry stood backwards toward the door, standing his ground.
"Don't be scared, Potter, I won't bite." He assured him, slightly nibbling his own lip.
"I'm not scared." Harry looked him dead in the eyes.
Draco made a successful move toward Harry, walking tentatively. They locked eyes for a moment. Draco looked away smiling, a little rush of pink on his cheeks. Harry looked at him, puzzled.
"So.. what exactly am I here for?" Harry asked.
Draco looked back up. He ran his the tips of his fingers on a sofa, "To talk, as I've said already."
"Then… talk." Harry hesitated.
Draco took a few more steps toward him. Harry could feel himself tense up in defense. They had locked eyes once more before Malfoy chose to speak again.
"How do you do it?" He said looking back down.
"What?" Harry was more confused than ever.
"How do you manage to live like this? The boy-who-lived? Is it really an act?" Draco gave a menacing smile as Harry looked at him in disgust. Draco chuckled, "I know it's not an act, I'm just roughling you." He gave a slight wink towards Harry.
Harry thought for a moment. What kind of question was this?
"I… don't have an answer. I... just do?" Harry didn't know how to answer such a ridiculous question.
"Okay then… let me rephrase the question," He took another step towards Harry, just a foot away, "How do you live like this without me? The boy-who-lives-without-Draco? You could have had me from day one." He gave a shy smile, showing his shining teeth.
Harry was even more confused. What did Malfoy mean "without him"? Being his friend? Fighting alongside him?
"W-what… what do you mean?" Harry felt anger rise in him again. He hated not knowing anything of importance, not, he thought, that this was of any importance. "Nevermind, I'm just wasting my time."
"Wait!"
As Harry turned to leave, Malfoy had grabbed his wrist. Harry turned quickly and met his eyes, which pleaded him to stay just a while longer. Harry didn't see the boy he knew now, he saw remorse. Harry lightened up as Draco loosened his grip on him.
Draco pulled Harry towards him slowly. Inches away from each other, they never broke their stare until Draco looked at Harry's lips. Within moments, they were even closer. A little voice in the back of both of their heads said, "Pull away! What do you think you're doing!" But it was overcome with the heat of their breaths on each other.
`Slowly, they closed their eyes, and their lips collided like soft pink pillows.
Harry was the one to pull away after a moment. He looked into Draco's eyes, they said, "More." So Harry complied. He had pressed his lips against Malfoy's again, his hand slipped to his back. Draco make a noise of contempt, and took Harry's untidy black hair into his hands. Harry felt Draco's lips part, and pulled back again slowly. They looked into each other's eyes one last time before deciding that they needed to leave before nine.
"What happened? Was Sir- er - Snuffles there?" Ron asked, seeing the smile on Harry's face as he entered the real Gryffindor common room.
"Er- yeah." Harry lied, looking at the ground where he was standing.
I kissed him right here. He thought. Wait…. I had just kissed Draco Malfoy! Why am I so happy?
"Hello… Hogwarts to Harry, come in, come in?" Ron had knocked on Harry's forehead to get him to pay attention to him.
"Uh.. What?" He finally looked back up at his friends blank expressions.
"What did he say!" Hermione threw her hands across her front.
"He - er - said we - er - need more training with expelliarmus." Harry couldn't get his words out.
"Right… well I'm going to bed. 'Night boys." Hermione picked up Crookshanks and limbed up the stairs.
"'Night." Ron watched her leave.
Harry sat on his bed thinking about Draco. His lips were so soft, his breath warm. Harry had never felt anything like this. Was this love?
"Nah," Harry said aloud.
"Huh?" Ron heard him.
"Uh… nothing. 'Night." Harry closed the curtains to his four-poster bed and curled up.
"'Night..," Ron said with a suspicious yawn.
That night was the first night he didn't have the bizarre nightmares he had every night. That night, he dreamed of Draco Malfoy, the boy he had never known he loved.
