I'm aware how short this chapter is. I'm not proud, but I don't want to dive right into the plot I'm taking it slow for once.

If you have suggestions please let me know, it'd help a lot. xD

Sorry again.

Alexander woke to the smell of pancakes wafting through his old-bedroom turned office. His laptop was still open but his phone was nowhere in sight. He could've sworn he'd left it right there… oh well he was tired last night.

He moved toward the kitchen rubbing his eyes as he went. He saw his boyfriend, usually the late riser up cooking breakfast. "John?" His voice had a tired tone to it.

John looked at Alexander over his shoulder and smiled. "Morning!" He called out cheerfully just before turning back to the stove.

Alexander settled into a barstool at the island. Their kitchen was small but, it had a homey feeling to it. He remembered the first day he ever came here. He was visiting one of Hercules and Lafayette's friends, and little did the pair know was that they were setting up their two friends for a long friendship. Now, a real relationship something Alexander had wanted to do for years.

They'd moved in with each other and their friends insisting. It was probably because the pair had gotten together because they were roommates first. Alexander knew the pair shipped him and John together before they even met. His friends were psychic, there was no doubt about it.

"Alex you have to go to the store, we're out of milk." John told Alexander while holding a plate of pancakes. There were four on it, two each. John was the chef in the relationship, Alexander could cook but he really never had time to.

"Anything else I should get while I'm out?" It was the weekend Alexander didn't have to work he usually did anyway but, he enjoyed working. John never tried to stop him but, he drew the line at two hours.

John seemed to be mentally scanning the entire fridge and pantry. "Uh… a bag of chips would be nice, we finished the last one last night."

Alexander nodded and finished his breakfast. Then he felt around his pockets for his phone, wait… where was his phone? He ran back to his office to look, nope it wasn't there.

"Hey John." He paused and ran out into the main room. "Have you seen my phone?" Alexander took a good look at his boyfriend, he seemed nervous. He wondered why.

"I haven't… you don't need it do you?" John shoved his hands in his pockets and stared at the floor. He walked over to the island and picked his half dead phone up. "You can use mine for now."

Alexander grabbed the phone it had a turtle case with earbuds hanging out of the headphone port. The store wasn't too far away from their building, and their car was...well… they'd have to get a new one eventually.

He went through John's playlist to settle on a song for the five minute walk to the store when he stumbled upon, a song that made him laugh. "John…." He began between laughs. "Why do you have Mans Not Hot?"

John froze for a second staring off into space. "No…. I don't?" He turned to Alexander with a confused expression on his face.

Alexander held the phone up so the screen faced John. "Yeah, you do."

His boyfriend looked lost for a minute before bursting out into laughter himself. "Oh my God! It was Herc I swear! We each bought songs for each other and he probably bought me that!"

"What song did you buy him?" Alexander asked with a playful smirk on his face. "Please say it was It's Raining Tacos.."

"That's what it was!" The two stood there dying of laughter in the main room of their small apartment. If you entered right now you'd think the pair were really weird.

They laughed so hard tears began to form. Until Alexander headed off to the store giving John a small wave before exiting their apartment. He wandered down the street until he hit the small store he was looking for.

It was your average grocery store with the exception of the small area in the back that was like an ice cream parlour. It was mostly for children who weren't exactly happy to be out grocery shopping with their parents.

Alexander headed straight for the snack foods section. On the way there he spotted a familiar red scarf browsing the crackers. "Maria?" The girl had dark curly hair and was known for her cherry red scarf that she always wore.

To his surprise she wrapped her arms around him. "Alex… I'm so sorry.. It was only highschool but still!" She let him go a small smile plastered on her face. "James and I broke up right after. I have a fiance now."

"Really Mar! That's great!" He was glad she was happy, James was a pretty horrible boyfriend.

The pair chatted as they wandered through the store. Even though they'd both made mistakes they'd moved past it and became friends.

Eventually the both started getting endless texts from their partners. They didn't realize they were out for as long as they were. Alexander waved goodbye to Maria and headed for his apartment.

He never noticed that the texts were sent from his phone. He didn't notice the dark haired girl who picked Maria up. He didn't notice how she saw him and waved.

He especially didn't notice the curly haired child walking beside her.

Who's that kid?
