Postscript

Yuna awakens slowly, the dream fading quietly, like the Zanarkand sunrise. She blinks, not sure if she is ready to leave the dreamworld behind.

"Did it work? Did you see it?" Tidus's eyes shine with excitement as he leans over Yuna.

She smiles back. "Yes. I saw it. I saw your Zanarkand."

"Did you like it? Were you able to see the sunrise?"

She looks at Tidus—his bright blue eyes, his excited smile—and she feels like it's the first time she's ever really seen him. "It was beautiful. The sunrise, the rosy glow. Just like you said."

Yuna hugs him, tightly. "Thank you."

Author Notes: (1) This story was inspired by the song "Under the Bridge" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. (2) The mechanic I have in mind for Yuna "dreaming" about Tidus's Zanarkand is Ellone from Final Fantasy VIII. (I consider this story a postscript/sequel to my FFVIII/FFX crossover story Love Don't Die.) I didn't feel like I could introduce and explain a new character in this eight-line postscript, so it is open for the reader to make up their own explanation if they prefer.
