Arthur awoke suddenly and studied his surroundings. He was sure that he had heard Merlin's voice pleading for help but his manservant had been missing for 2days. At first Arthur thought nothing of it because Merlin disappears a lot but always comes back within at least a day's time. But when the second day had passed and there was no sign of Merlin, a niggling feeling of worry started forming in the back of Arthur's mind. Now as he lay awake, that feeling was growing.
"Arthur? Are you okay?" Gwen asked.
"I heard Merlin's voice. It sounded so weak and was fading." He replied, concern evident in his voice.
"Arthur. You know Merlin, he goes into battle unarmed and without armour and returns barely harmed." She comforted.
"I know Gwen. But ever since this morning, I've had a feeling that something is not right; that he is in trouble."
"He is lucky to have a friend like you" she said. "And I can't deny that I have the same feeling, that there is danger. But Arthur, for all we know it could be a trap and a war is approaching."
"Okay. I just hope he is alright. And that he is found soon. Tomorrow will be the 3rd day since he went missing." Arthur sighed heavily. He hated the thought that his best friend might be in trouble. He felt like he was turning his back on him.
"Get some sleep Arthur, tomorrow we can talk about this more."
He smiled softly at his wife, and slowly drifted back to sleep.
