Chapter One - Our Goodbyes, Part 1

"Go, Jen, go!"

Jen was close to finish pole, with one hit, she hit the soccer ball so hard, that the golly failed to catch it... she one. Her team one. The team members all ran towards her and gave her a group hug, being happy they won the game.

"Way a go, Jen!" Caitlin, one of her best friends shouted. She wearing a light blue sweater that matches her signature blue eyeshadow.

Next to Caitlin was Jen and Caitlin other best friend, Jude. He sitting down on the bench eating his hotdog. He was wearing his signature hat and wearing a black coloured sweater. "Good job, dude," he said while taking bite out of the hotdog.

Wayette, standing next to Caitlin, was also cheering on for Jen victory. He was wearing his signature burgundy sweater and toque on his head. "Yes, Jen."

Jonsey, on the other hand, wasn't paying attention to Jen soccer game. He stared at his phone, an empty blank screen. He was wearing a tri-colour jacket and a blue coloured hat.

After the game was over, the five friends went a restaurant to celebrate Jen victory. After all of the five friends order their food, talking about a lot of things.

"Guys, you do realize that this will be probably the last time we all sit together," Jen said, munching on her nachos.

"I didn't realize that?" Caitlin answered, taking small bites of her salad. "Now that I think about it, this is our final week before we're all finish school." A small frown appeared on Caitlin face, finally realizing that an era was ending.

Wyatt took a sip of his coffee and said, "just because we're going to different university, dose not mean this friendship is over."

"Correction, Wyatt; not all of us are going to university," Jonsey budded in, looking at Jude. "He's not going?" His finger pointed towards Jude.

Jude chuckle slightly. "That's because I'm letting the flow take me anywhere I go," he said so calmly.

The four all laughed. They all knew this after this week, everything will be changing.

"Why do you keep looking at your phone?" Caitlin asked Jonsey.

"I keep texting Nikki, but she isn't replying back," Jonsey answered. "And before you ask, I've trying to contact Nikki for the last few days already."

After what Jonsey said, everything went quiet. After Nikki moved more than two years ago, it had gotten harder to contact her.

"Didn't she promise she'd be here for the graduation?" Jen asked, knowing this because she was the one who invited Nikki to come. "I mean, Nikki did emailed me back saying she would come."

Talking about Nikki made Caitlin a little upset. "I have to go." Her chair moved and had gotten up.

"Everything alright, Caitlin?" Wyatt asked.

"Everything is alright. I promise my parents I'd be home already." Caitlin wasn't lair, she pulled out some money and placed on the table, paying for her meal. "I will see you all tomorrow." And left the restaurant.

"I guess we should also call it a day," Jen said, also pulling out her wallet.

"Yeah. It's getting late," Wyatt agree, looking at the time on the wall in the restaurant.

After they all paid for their own meals, the four friends left the restaurant, getting ready for their upcoming graduation.

"Jonsey? Are you coming for cake?" Emma, Jonsey step-mother, asked when she notice Jonsey was going to his room.

"I am. I just need to do something first," Jonsey answered with a slight smile. "Save me a piece."

"Well do." Emma walked back to the dinning room, where the rest of the family all gathered together to celebrate Jen's victory.

Jonsey closed his door shut and grabbed his cellphone and dial the first number that appeared in his call history.

It's me... you know what to do. Leave a message and I might get back to you. Jonsey throat felt dry, feeling like he lost his voice, but manage to speak, It's me." A pause. "This is my tenth message I'm leaving..." his eyes closed. "I don't why I'm still calling you." He laughed to ease the awkward situation. "Anyways, I'm just calling to make sure you're okay... whatever you're doing, I hope your happy... Nikki. Bye." End. Jonsey sighed as he threw his cellphone onto the bed, leaving his room, to reunite with his family.

It finally happened.

"We did it!" Caitlin exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air. "We finally did it!"

All of the four friends stepped outside of the school, with them all holding their high school diploma.

"Yah. It's official over," Jen said, trying her best to not cry.

"Can't believe it's... over?" Wyatt said.

"Well, I'm just glad that I don't have to deal with those teacher anymore," Jonsey said, laughing hysterically.

"You do realize that teacher in university won't be easy on you and your pranks," Wyatt added in.

Jonsey gave Wyatt a look.

"You're going to fail university," Jude said, laughing.

The four friends went inside the school to see all of their parents waiting for them. "There you guys are," Mr Garcia said, pulling out his digital camera. "Quick. Gather around; group photo."

So, the four friends gather around and all smiled when the flash happen.

"I'll text you tomorrow," Caitlin said, getting ready to leave with her parents.

"Yeah," Jen said. "I'll see you later.

Wyatt also looked at the time. "I also should be getting ready. My extended family came for a visit, to celebrate my graduation," Wyatt said, also getting ready to leave with his parents.

"See you later... brah." Jude left. He was the only who parents show up for his graduation.

Emma looked at the time. "We should also be going as well. The reservation is at 7."

Emma, Mr Garcia and Jonsey began to walk. "Are you coming Jen?" Emma asked her daughter, who was standing there.

"Yeah. Give me a moment," Jen answered.

"Okay." Emma said, walking away.

Jen walked down the hallway, until she reached a certain area; the locker that she first had when she started High School. At this time of the year, the locks are gone, so Jen opened it... inside was an engraved word that Nikki left for her. "I wish you wouldn't been here... Nikki." Jen sighed, taking a moment before walking away and leaving the school grounds forever.

Wherever you are, Nikki... I hope you're happy.
