Let's just start from the beginning of the day. It was a rainy afternoon, clouds were closing in and drops of rain flooded the streets. Almost a representation of how I really felt at the time. My girlfriend had just dumped me and I was completely devastated. It was hard to focus on my research paper when I was to busy thinking about Kyra. Instead of writing my paper, I was staring blankly out a window. I could see the lightning that was brewing between the clouds. Followed by a loud roar of thunder that echoed throughout the classroom. Almost like clockwork, the power went out and darkness engulfed the room. Me and my fellow classmates were all left utterly speechless. We just sat there looking blankly around the room for a couple minutes. We were all waiting for someone to speak...Finally our prayers were answered and a familiar voice came onto the loud speaker. "Attention all students. It seems I forgot to pay the electric bill. Please steer clear in the hallways before we're able to get the power back on". Like a large tsunami, students rolled out of the classroom in waves. I was funneled into a long dark hallway filled with noise and booming sounds. Almost straight out of a horror movie. The only difference is that the layout of school was quite familiar, I could still tell where my locker was, plain as day. I was still able to make out where the water fountains were. Even the vending machine was a slightly lighter shade then the pitch black walls. definitely set the disturbing atmosphere. In all honesty, I wasn't really scared.

No really.

I was too focused on what happened with Kyra to really care about the situation. Mostly glued to my phone, it's no wonder I wandered off the beaten path. "How did end up in the science wing" I said to myself.

Yeah, I even remember what I said to myself. It was that vivid.

"Must have went down the wrong hallway" Then it finally hit me, I was alone. I peeked into the empty classrooms, looking for any signs of life.

It was a baron wasteland of darkness.

What, too dramatic?

A wasteland of darkness?

A land of darkness?

Just darkness!

Fine, a world shrouded in darkness!

Look, if I'm gonna get through this story, your gonna have to let me be dramatic.

Not a single soul in sight. A school filled with a thousand students, suddenly turned into a ghost town. Well except from the large mysterious figure in the back of Mascetta's class. But I'm not exactly sure if it's even human. Seven feet tall, dressed in all grey. I couldn't help but wonder, "should I step in". "No, I need to get out of here. I'm not doing this" I turned around preparing to leave. When suddenly the door was slammed shut. I had barely even walked into the room and the door had already knocked me into the classroom. I ran back to open the door, but it was already too late. I was locked in.

What?

Yes I tried pushing and pulling! Way to kill the mood.

Anyways, at this point I really had no choice but to step inside. I even tried to pick the lock with my finger nail, but I pretty much knew from the get go it wasn't going to work. I bit my tongue and stepped forward. With each and every passing step I felt the weight of my body shift from one leg to another. The faceless figure became clearer and clearer as I got close. Until I realized that the object was covered a tarp. "What in the world, what is this". I lifted up the tarp after a long hesitation and revealed a damaged machine lying on the table. The machine was outfitted with valves, wires, and switches. Tethered to the back of the table. I rubbed the face of the object taking a large wad of dust with me. "How long has this been here". My first thought was that it came from the robotics lab. Like I mentioned though, it was in poor condition. Almost like someone had taken a bat to the back of the machine. Sparks seeped out of the front with no signs of stopping. I quickly grabbed the tarp to throw it back on the table. Bad mistake though, the tarp immediately caught on fire, when I waved it at the sparks. I ran towards the front of the classroom grabbing the fire extinguisher in the cabinet. I sprayed it at the fire as quickly as I could, but the smoke had already built up. The sprinklers went off. Showering down from the ceiling. If I knew anything about electricity, machines and water don't mix. I quickly tossed the tarp on the machine as fast as I could, but the fire ripped a whole straight through the middle. I was out of options and also out of time.

Get it?

I saw a flash of white light, followed by several others. It was blinding, I could barely see anything. A loud extatic noise rang from the room. I needed it to stop, I didn't know what to do. I began to panic. I slipped onto the floor, banging my arm against the fire extinguisher. Almost like a moment of realization, I picked up the extinguisher, ran towards the light, and bashed the machine in with all my might. Suddenly, I heard a trembling noise ringing through my ears. Was it thunder, or the machine...Or maybe even both. Like the ripple of a wave. The very fabric of time had been ripped in two by a boy holding a fire extinguisher. It was at that moment, that time travel had been discovered. By me no less. Shot into the past, at a hundred miles per hour. The room began to shake and fold in on itself. Like a box being crushed, the walls were crumbled and the windows were shattered. But it all happened in a spilt second and nothing more. If you blinked you might have missed it. But I certainly didn't miss any of it. I woke up in a cold sweat noticing that lights were back on. I soon crept to the window to pick myself up. And as I lifted my body upwards, a bright sun came into view. "Had the storm stopped" I thought to myself.I turned back around expecting to see a machine in shambles. But there was no machine, no wires, nothing. Almost as if it had all vanished into thin air. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't seeing things. What about that fire, the electric surge, was any of that even real. I needed to get a breath of fresh air, so I opened up the nearest window. A large cold breeze came into the room. "That's weird, last I checked it was almost 70 degrees outside". I scrambled to the door, hoping to get out of this god forsaken room. But it looks like I spoke too soon, when I walked by a broken can on the floor. Red? Burnt? No it couldn't be?

Yep

Wait, how did know?

Okay, yes it was the remains of a shattered fire extinguisher.

But still, that's a pretty a lucky guess. I assume you're paying a lot more attention then I thought you were.

How about I quiz you on what I've said so far.

And your prize is hint about what happens in the next chapter.

Question 1. What's the name of my ex girlfriend?

Kyra... is that your final answer. Ding ding that's correct. Even if a little creepy.

Question 2. Who's classroom was the time machine found in?

It's okay, take your time. Huh, you already have an answer. Lets hear it then!

Mascetta's classroom, hmmm are you 100% sure. Well unfortunately you got that right. I don't know how you remembered such a trivial detail.

Final question, this one is hard so be prepared!

Question 3. What's the color of the tarp that covered the machine?

Here are your options-

• Red

• Black

• Grey

• Tan

What are you stumped, I told you this one is hard. You definitely need to reread the chapter if you want to answer all of the questions correctly.

Time's up and you put...

Oh come on, how in the hell did you know the tarp was grey. I think your paying a little to much attention if you somehow knew that.

...Oh yeah the hint, hold on I gotta think of something

Hint: What can fly without wings?
