It's been a while since I updated this story, right? I wanna apologize for that, I've wanted to come back to this story for the longest time, but I just didn't have the time for it, and I lost inspiration for it, so I've put it on probably the longest hiatus I've put a story on, but now I think I got that fire back, ya know? So, without further ado, let's get back into this shindig! Be sure to review!

Gundam Generations: Megas XLR

Chapter Two: The First Signal

"So, how'd someone like you get a mech like that?" Duo asked, as they drifted through space.

"Oh, it was a long and awesome story!" Coop declared excitedly. "I found it in the junkyard, for two bucks by the way, and I did some repairs, customize and good as new!"

"There's more to that story, Coop!" Kiva scolded. "Megas was originally meant as the Earth Coalition's last hope for humanity, not some toy!"

"On that, we can agree." Heero nodded nonchalantly.

"Wait, hold on!" Duo did a double-take. "Did you just say that you bought the thing, for two dollars?!"

"Well, yeah." Coop shrugged. "The guy who owns the junkyard said everything there cost two bucks each."

"Even the mech?!" Duo asked, astounded. "The guy must be kicking himself right now!"

"He probably was." Jamie shrugged. "No doubt the robot would've costed more."

"Damn right!" Duo boasted. "If it were me, I probably would've charged more! Maybe around 200k?"

"Well, I'm glad you weren't the one at the junkyard then." Jamie smirked. "Goat got tricked pretty well."

"Still, two friggin' bucks…" Duo mumbled angrily.

They floated through empty space a bit more, before arriving at the sight of a massive, white space battleship, orbiting around Mars.

"Lady and gents, feast your eyes on the Peacemillion!" Duo declared. "This baby's not only large, but she's also got a stealth system that lets it escape enemy pursuit!"

"Whoa, look at the guns on that baby!" Coop said in awe, gazing at the cannons and turrets. "That thing looks like it could wipe out a whole armada!"

"Don't overestimate the Peacemillion's capabilities." Heero said coldly. "Though it does have its own defense mechanism's, it still needs to rely on its mobile suits it carries during combat."

"Still, the size is impressive." Kiva admitted. "It could give any battleship in the Earth Coalition a run for their money."

The suits approached the battleship, then entered the docking bay, then exited from the cockpits, Coop and his friends taking in the interior.

"Whoa, this is sooooo cool!" Coop gasped in awe. "Even the inside is massive!"

The three continued to observe and admire, Duo and Heero approached them.

"Well, glad to see you like what you see so far!" Duo grinned. "Cause we're about to introduce you to the rest of the Gundam team!"

"…They're out right now." Heero deadpanned.

"What?!" Duo gasped, before pouting. "Aw, but I was really looking forward to the introductions!"

"We can do that later." Heero shook his head. "Right now, we need to talk about these mysterious signals."

"We've been meaning to talk about that as well." Kiva admitted. "What do you know about it so far?"

"All we know is that whenever this signal appears, we encounter someone different." Heero explained. "Some of them appear to be pilots from a different era. On a previous mission, we encountered Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, drifting in space, both in their mobile suits, as if locked in combat."

"Char Aznable? Amuro Ray?" Jamie repeated. "What do you mean? Who are these people?!"

"Famous mobile suit pilots from the past." Duo shrugged. "Amuro was just a kid, when he first piloted the original Gundam, fighting for the Earth Federation, while Char Aznable fought under the Principality of Zeon some centuries ago. He also tried to destroy Earth."

"Whoa, that's insane." Jamie gulped, before chuckling nervously. "Well, good thing you got him locked up, right?"

"For now." Heero nodded. "Though I doubt his subordinates won't be happy to hear that their leader is taken captive."

"For now, they won't know."

The lot turned to see the legend himself, Amuro Ray, approaches them, wearing his pilot suit.

"So, you're the pilot of that machine, right?" He declared, looking at Coop. "It seems kinda unlikely."

"What?!" Coop gasped, offended. "Come on, dude! I fought an entire army of Glorft robots with this bad boy!"

Amuro raised a brow at Coops claim, then turned his head to Kiva for an answer.

"They're a species of war-like cyborg-cephalopod aliens that waged war against humans, many years in the future." Kiva explained. "They caused trouble for us, and every time, Coop defeated them."

"That's quite the claim." Amuro remarked.

"I can vouch for 'em, Boss." Duo held up a hand, smirking. "He may not be an ace by any means, but he knows how to put up a good fight."

"If you say so, Duo." Amuro sighed, before smirking. "Maybe you'd like to give us a demonstration on a mission?"

"Oh, hell yeah!" Coop beamed, hyped. "Just name it and I'll smash up anything you'd like!"

"This mission has nothing to do with fighting, actually." Amuro explained. "It's more of a scouting mission. No violence is involved unless something unexpected happens."

"What kind of mission exactly?" Kiva asked.

"We've recently received another signal from Pluto." Amuro explained. "We've been discovering more and more of these lately and every time we discover the source, we meet someone different. Kinda how you guys met with Heero and Duo earlier."

"It would be nice to understand what these signals mean and who's causing them." Kiva admitted. "When do we leave?"

"Soon." Heero answered. "For now, it's best we show you Char Aznable himself."

"I agree with Heero on this one." Amuro nodded. "Before we do anything, it's best that you see the man Char once was."

"Should we expect anything?" Kiva asked.

"Only to not be swayed by his fancy words." Amuro warned. "For they are all lies."

While Heero and Duo began repairs and calibrations on their mobile suits, Amuro lead the trio down several hallways, before stopping at a door in a hallway with a large window overlooking space. While Amuro was getting the door opened, Coop looked out the window and immediately gasped.

"Kiva, look!" Coop said, running over to the window. "Look at all the ships!"

Kiva looked and saw a great many battleships and spaceships zooming past.

"Impressive, aren't they?" Amuro asked, giving a small smile, before pointing. "See that big one over there?"

They looked to where he was pointing at, and it was towards a massive whate battleship with some red and blue coloring.

"That one's called 'White Base'." Amuro explained. "It fought in the One Year War against the Zeon forces. It's an old reliable."

The door opened, allowing the four to continue down the hall, going down to the cell block, then stopped in front of a cell, seeing an older blonde man in a white one piece prison outfit, sitting on a thin looking bed.

"Everyone, meet Char Aznable." Amuro declared, waving a hand towards him. "The man who nearly destroyed Earth."

Char slowly raised his head up, then grinned.

"Amuro, my friend." He said, walking up to the bars. "I was beginning to wonder if you had forgotten about me."

"In your dreams, Char." Amuro smirked.

"I see you brought some new friends, I see." Char remarked. "Got tired of the same old company?"

"We need the extra help." Amuro shrugged, before patting on Coops shoulder. "That and I've heard that this guy's a talented pilot."

"Him?" Char raised a brow, questionably, looking Coop up and down. "He looks like someone who spent too much time living in his mother's basement."

"Hey, don't talk that way about my mom!" Coop pouted angrily.

"And don't talk to Coop like that either!" Kiva snarled. "He has selflessly protected innocent people and has more honor than you ever will!"

"Yeah, you tell him, Kiva!" Jamie smirked.

"And what're you two supposed to be?" Char asked, turning his attention to Kiva and Jamie. "His sidekick monkey and his plus one?"

"Excuse me?!" Kiva fumed angrily.

"And who are you calling a money, space chimp?!" Jamie snarled.

"Relax, you guys." Amuro said, pulling them away from the bars. "Don't let him get under your skin."

"I'm surprised by the company you keep nowadays, Amuro." Char said, chuckling. "And here I thought you had higher standards."

"That's because I haven't given up on humanity yet, unlike you, Char." Amuro frowned.

Char only laughed, making Coop and the others very uncomfortable.

"Let's go, guys." Amuro suggested, guiding the three to the door. "Let's leave him to his own madness."

The four left the jail cell, then went back down the halls going to the hanger bay.

"Well, he was pleasant to talk to." Jamie remarked sarcastically.

"He wasn't always like this." Amuro declared. "Sure, when he fought under the Principality of Zeon, he was ruthless and stopped at nothing to accomplish his goals, but he had a heart. When he was part of the A.E.U.G., he changed. He had charisma, he was a great mentor to Kamille, and we became good friends." He then frowned. "But then he went off the deep end and nearly destroyed Earth."

"Sounds rough." Jamie said. "Can't believe someone would go such lengths, and for what?"

"To be honest, I'm not so sure." Amuro shrugged. "Maybe he wanted to prove a point. I don't know anymore."

The four walked down the hall to the hanger, before meeting a woman with blue hair.

"Oh, hello, Captain." She greeted with a smile. "I hope you're been doing well."

"I have, thank you, Chan." Amuro nodded, turning to the trio. "Guys, this is Chan Agi, my second in command and Warrant Officer."

"I'm also the one who helped him build his mobile suit." Chan added. "Nice to meet you all by the way."

"You as well." Kiva nodded, shaking her hand.

"Hey, baby." Jamie smirked, trying to act the ladies' man. "Has anyone ever told you that you look smokin' hot in that skirt?"

Chan frowned, then sucker punched Jamie in the stomach, making him double over in pain.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Chan sarcastically said. "Did that hurt?"

"Wow, that must've hurt." Kiva chuckled, helping her friend up. "You'll have to forgive Jamie; he tends to act like a womanizer."

"Well, I hope he matures a bit more, or he'll suffer more than a little tummy ache." Chan said with a smirk, before turning to Amuro with a nod and a smile. "Captain."

Amuro nodded back, then, as Chan left, Jamie managed to get back to his feet, with help from Kiva.

"You okay?" Amuro asked. "Chan got you pretty hard."

"Yeah, I'll be fine." Jamie groaned, rubbing his sore spot. "I'm used to this rejection."

Kiva just rolled her eyes, as they continued their walk down the halls, then arrived back at the hanger, seeing Duo and Heero working on their mobile suits respectively.

"Hey, you're back!" Duo called, dropping his wrench in a nearby toolbox. "So, how'd it go with Mister Extremist?"

"About the same as every other day." Amuro shrugged.

"Yeah, sounds about right." Duo nodded, before turning towards Jamie, seeing him still clutch his sore gut. "Hey, you okay, beanie head? You look like you just got jumped by a thug."

"He'll be fine." Coop said, patting his friend's shoulder. "He just needs to wait for his stomach to stop hurting."

"And his ego to stop falling." Kiva added.

"I don't get it." Duo frowned.

"Anyways, we should get started on the mission." Amuro declared, turning to Coop. "You ready for a bit of Search and Rescue?"

"You bet I am!" Coop whooped.

"Why don't you and Jamie stay here with Duo and Heero?" Amuro suggested to Kiva. "That way, Heero and Duo can teach you two how to pilot a mobile suit yourselves, instead of hitching a ride with Coop."

"That sounds like a good idea." Kiva nodded. "Although I already have some experience in piloting giant robots from my time."

"That might be, but our mobile suits are different." Amuro declared. "I'm not sure how your mobile suits function where you came from, but I guarantee that ours are much more complicated to some degree."

"I agree." Heero nodded. "I'll make sure you both know the basics of piloting even our more advanced mobile suits."

"Actually, maybe I'm better off with Mister Grim Reaper teaching me." Jamie suggested, apparently no longer in pain. "That way, Birdman has more time to teach Kiva."

"…Birdman?" Heero repeated, raising a brow.

"Sounds like a plan to me!" Duo smirked, throwing an arm around Jamie's shoulder. "Just stick with me, Beanie Head, and I'll make an ace pilot out of you in no time!"

"Well, time to head out, Coop!" Amuro declared. "No time like the present!"

"Oh yeah, let's rock and roll!" Coop whooped.

The two went up to the catwalks, Coop getting into the car of Megas, while he saw Amuro got into the cockpit of his signature mobile suit; the Nu Gundam.

"Whoa, that an awesome mobile suit you're got!" Coop said in awe. "Did you build that yourself?"

"With a little help, yeah." Amuro nodded, flipping a few switches in the cockpit. "Thanks to Chan and information from Char, it's equipped with unique Psycoframe technology."

"Psyco-what?" Coop asked, confused.

"You'll see, should we run into any trouble." Amuro said. "Now, let's get to work!"

And with that, the two piloted their robots out of the hanger bay and into space, heading to Pluto.

"Whelp, time to get started!" Duo declared, rubbing his hands together. "Follow us, lady and gent!"

Jamie and Kiva followed Duo and Heero, passing by several lined up mobile suits, standing tall, as they stopped in front of two mobile suits. One of them was red and had ten blue disks attached to the back, had what looked like a crash shield and a beam gun, while its blue brother had a large beam cannon and generator attached to its back.

"Good thing we saved these bad boys!" Duo declared. "The blue ones called the Vayeate. It packs some heavy firepower with its beam cannon, which is powered by the generator on its back. Though the cannon is pretty much the Vayeate's only weapon, we've been looking to equip it with a beam saber." He then gestured to the red one. "Now, its brother, the Mercurius, is a different story! While the Vayeate was designed for ultimate offense, the Mercurius was built for ultimate defense. See those disks on its back? Those are actually 'planet defensors', which generate a powerful electromagnetic forcefield. It also sports a beam blade-mounting crash shield and a beam gun!" He turned to the two with a smirk. "Our genius scientists deserve credit for building these bad boys!"

"I must say, you guys have really outdone yourselves." Kiva said. "These would've been useful in the Earth Coalition."

"Well, take your time picking the one you want." Duo declared. "We've got time, before we start training-"

"Already decided." Jamie declared, running up to the Mercurius. "I pick this one!"

"Guess I'll go with the Vayeate then." Kiva shrugged, placing a hand on the foot of the blue mobile suit.

"Excellent choices!" Duo smiled, rubbing his hands together. "Oh, this is gonna be fuuuuuu-uuuuun!"

Heero simply sighed, shaking his head.

Meanwhile…

Coop and Amuro flew through empty space, on their way to the location of the signal, in concentrated silence.

"So, what should I know about you?" Coop spoke up.

"Ask me whatever you'd like, Coop." Amuro shrugged. "I'll try my best to answer."

"Well, how about where you got your training in piloting robots?" Coop asked. "Can you tell me about that?"

"Sure." Amuro nodded. "You see, I was a young teenage boy, when I piloted the original Gundam. Over the years, I became a talented mobile suit pilot."

"And when was that?" Coop asked.

"Back when the Earth Federation was at war with Zeon, many years ago." Amuro explained. "But by the end, both sides suffered many losses, but a treaty was eventually signed."

As Amuro finished, he noticed that they were closing in on Pluto.

"We're here." He declared. "The source of the signal should be coming from one of its moons, Charon."

As the two neared the moon, however, Amuro noticed something was off.

"Wait, something's wrong." He said, his eyes on the radar. "It looks like there's fighting going on!"

"Well, what're we waiting for?" Coop asked with a smirk. "Time to break stuff!"

The two zoomed off, Coop eager for some action, while Amuro was more interested in who was fighting. As they got closer, they could see who was fighting; several black mobile suits were fighting a single Gundam, which appeared to look like the Greek God of War, Ares. Some of its parts looked like armor that covers the shoulder and biceps, vambraces and greaves, and full chest protection. Its main color was red, while its secondary color was silver. The head looked like any other Gundam, except the top looked like that of the helmets worn by Spartan soldiers. It also held a large beam spear, using it to cut down the attacking mobile suits.

"Wait, I recognize the Gundam." Amuro declared. "That's the Ares War Gundam!"

"Is he a good guy?" Coop asked.

"Yes, definitely!" Amuro answered. "Take out the black mobile suits!"

The two sprung into action, Amuro utilizing the Nu Gundams fin funnels and beam saber to take out the attackers, while Coop went wild, using Megas' machine guns and energy cannons and even its fists to take out the enemy, all while trying to avoid hitting his allies.

After the fighting was over, Amuro activated the communications channel.

"Ares! Come in, Ares!" Amuro called over the communications. "Do you read?!"

"Amuro?" A voice responded, followed by a chuckled. "Well, I'll be damned. Never thought I'd see your ugly face again."

A face appeared on the monitor, a man slightly older than Amuro, at least in his mid-thirties. His hair was brown and messy and had slight fuzz on his face, had bright red eyes and wore a red and silver space suit.

"Ares! It IS you!" Amuro cheered. "I never thought I'd be glad to see you!"

"He really is a friend of yours, isn't he?" Coop spoke up.

"Yeah, he is." Amuro nodded, before turning to face the screen with Ares' face on it. "But Ares, what're you doing out here?"

"Lookin' fer you, jackass." Ares said, a-matter-of-factly. "I've spent the past few months lookin' fer yer sorry ass!"

"I see." Amuro sighed. "I'm sorry I worried you, old friend."

"Ah, don't mention it, buddy." Ares chuckled. "I'm just glad I finally found ya." He then frowned. "But you might not like what I found here."

"What was it?" Amuro asked.

"Well, while I was lookin' fer you, I picked up a signal from this here moon." Ares explained. "I came here to investigate, but when I got here…I saw Lalah Sune."

Silence ensued, Amuro almost unable to respond to this news.

"Are you sure?" He choked out. "You actually saw her?"

"I'm a hundred and ten percent sure, friend." Ares nodded. "I saw her in the Elmeth, begging for help, all scared and shit. I went over to help, but that's when those black mobile suits jumped outta nowhere and attacked me."

"Any idea where they came from?" Amuro asked.

"No idea." Ares shooked his head. "Like I said, they came outta nowhere. I managed to fight them off, but not before they dragged Lalah away in the Elmeth."

"Damnit!" Amuro swore. "Any idea where they went?"

"If my theory is right, they may have gone to some section of dark space." Ares explained.

"So, should we go after them?" Coop asked, itching for more action.

"Outta the question, friend." Ares shooked his head. "We don't know what lies beyond dark spaces, asides the bastards that dragged Lalah away. We're not ready for that sorta trip."

"We should head back to the Peacemillion and report what happened." Amuro declared. "You should come with us, Ares."

"Gladly." Ares smirked. "It'd be great to work alongside an old friend."

The three then departed the moon, eager to return to their home base.
