The Destroyer

Chapter 2: Hunger

Percy's POV

I woke up very hungry. I snarled in distaste. Fan-fucking-tastic, now I have to go hunting at least the area I'm in provides suitable cover for an excellent hunt. I grinned wolfishly as I heard voices. Human voices were bickering. What they were talking about was irrelevant. Why they were here, I didn't care. The fact that they were here was the reason I am interested. I crawled through the ventilation and followed their progress.

"Dude I swear to ya' I saw somethin 'ere. All I kno' was tha' it wa' creepy."

"That's what you always say Tom", the human snarled back.

The other human, Tom, said, "I ain't kiddin' ya', I swear it. It 'ad huge wings a-"

I dropped from the vent cutting off what he was going to say. A maniacal grin was plastered on my face. I advanced forward threateningly. My long black tipped pink tongue snaked out of my mouth and licked my right incisor. Yum lunch and on a silver platter too, they whimpered in fear at the strange growling noises coming from my throat. I crouched getting ready to pounce. They were fucking paralyzed with fear and I grinned savagely. Three humans were here. Yes, a feast that will be so delicious. I sprang forward with incredible speed and pounced on the leftmost human. My fangs bit down and crushed his shoulder. Dimly I realized he had started screaming. I couldn't care because his blood tasted so good. I jerked roughly backwards, tearing out pieces of his flesh in the process. I chewed and swallowed while the hunger in me was barely sated.

My head jerked up when I heard a female shriek. I smiled savagely and leaped forward to stop MY prey from escaping.

Artemis POV~

I shivered involuntarily as I recalled that savage beast hissing my name before flying away.

"Artemis?"

I blinked and then I remembered. Right after that beast appeared I had requested a meeting. "Sorry, I'm just very shaken at the moment", was my response.

They blinked and looked at me in shock. Zeus looked at me in concern and said, "Artemis what exactly happened?"

I took a deep breath and launched straight into my tale. "I had placed wards around the place that Perseus disappeared at and those wards would alert me when something non-mortal in origin breached the wards. When I felt something I immediately flashed there. I saw nothing at first until I heard a hiss. I snapped around to face it and earned myself a horrible shock. The thing that hissed at me and hissed my name used to be human."

Gasps were heard around the council and some murmuring started up until Zeus quelled it. "Continue please", Hera said.

I calmed my rapidly beating heart and went on to describe the creature. "It was vaguely human shaped. It had hair, spiked black hair that was matted with blood. It was also splattered in dried blood in odd places like on its hands and feet as well as its face. There its resemblance to being human-like ended. Its legs had this weird backward bending joint and splayed claws for feet. It had horrible fangs the size of my hunting knives jutting out of its mouth."

Aphrodite fainted at that.

"It had wings growing out of it's back. Two pair, the big ones spanned at least 20 ft in length. The little ones had spikes all over the wings as if they were meant for defense or something else." I let the something else hang ominously in the air. I looked down, my message had been given.

When I didn't speak any more pandemonium reigned in the throne room. Gods were shouting and the least god I expected took charge.

"Shut up", roared Poseidon.

Everyone fell silent almost instantaneously.

"Good", Poseidon said. He turned towards me. "Artemis I speak on be half of the council when I ask that you go to Greece and hunt this creature down. It seems semi-intelligent enough. Also it may know what happened to . . . Percy." The last bit was spoken as a whisper.

I nodded and said, "The hunters will be ready, and we will find it."

Zeus nodded and said, "Dismissed." Typical of him to do that.

I flashed into camp. My hunters looked up from their activities. Thalia strode over and immediately asked, "What is it milady?"

"Gather the rest of the Hunt", I said.

She hurried away to do what I asked. I could feel the curiosity and hope rolling off her in waves. It took less than five minutes until my Hunters were standing in front of me.

"Hunters, Today a beast that no one has ever seen has been sighted in Greece. We have been tasked with finding this beast and if it's hostile (which it probably is), we eliminate it." I worry for my hunters.

Thalia piped up, "Has there been any word on my cousin's whereabouts?" She had hope shining in her eyes.

I shook my head and said, "No, but we might find him or clues to where he disappeared to in Greece. Alright Hunters, Let's move out."

Perseus~

I leaned forward and coughed. My now human looking hands clenched as my fangs retracted and disappeared. I felt vulnerable and edgy looking like this. Unfortunately for me, prey is harder to catch when it is so numerous and very suspicious. My back cracked multiple times as the vertebrate in it shifted and drew closer together. My wings curled tightly against my back. I might need them later. Finally I looked at the pool of water in front of me. My vision darkened and my eyes returned to their green color. Gah, I had forgotten how poor sighted humans were.

I straightened upright and sauntered casually out of the alley. Dressed in clothes stolen from my meals, I looked pretty bad ass. I glanced at my new surroundings, already observing that I am currently in Greece. OK so I know where I am. Now what am I going to do? Besides hunt to keep my voracious appetite down.

I pondered and then shrugged. I don't care. I'll just wander around.

Nighshade: so If I didn't say it in chapter 1. I don't own PJO or Dead Space.

I have to work on Primordial and I do apologize for not updating in so long.

Hope you found this chapter interesting. Next chapter Perseus runs into the Hunt.
