Lena looked at the scene in front of her and started shaking her head. No, this can't be happening. This isn't happening. Callie isn't bleeding out on her bedroom floor. This had to be some sort of sick and twisted dream. She closed her eyes, telling herself that once she opened them again she would be in her own room. This is just a nightmare. Yet, she knew it wasn't. She could still feel Mariana holding onto her as sobbed. She could feel Jude struggling against Jesus, begging the older boy to let him go to his sister. She heard Jesus saying soothing things to Jude as he tried to calm him down. The worst part is that she could hear Stef, her heart breaking at the sound of her voice. Lena opened her eyes again, her denial bubble shattering to pieces. She wasn't dreaming. It was as if every nerve in her body was awake and she felt herself detangle from Mariana. Her legs moving on her own accord as she made her way to Stef and Callie.

It was even worse up close. Callie looked pale and clammy, beads of sweat running down her forehead. She was fighting to keep her eyes open, but every time she opened them she looked far away. Out of the corner of her eye Lena saw as Jude elbowed Jesus in the face, catching the later by surprise. In a seconds notice Jude was at her side, his face completely draining from color as he saw all the blood. She held him in her arms as he cried, the sound of his soft whimpers breaking Lena's heart more by the second. She made eye contact with Stef. Her wife's eyes were full of tears, her hands pressing onto Callie's wound.

"Callie please stay with me. Don't close your eyes sweetheart. Look at me, come on you can do this" Stef said. It occurred to Lena that nobody had called 911; at least she didn't think anyone had. Her world was in a whirlwind of emotions, it was almost as if it was a dream. But it wasn't and Lena knew that she needed to pull herself together because her children needed her. This wasn't the time to fall apart.

"Jesus go get the house phone. Call 911! NOW! GO!" He didn't need for her to repeat it and he sprinted out of the room. Mariana was at Callie's other side, Mat holding her close as she cried against his chest. How much more was her family going to endure? Yesterday during the lock down shed been terrified of losing one of her babies. Today she was.

"How did this happen? I mean she was fine. She told Jude she was. I thought when the second shot went off... But she was on the floor and the window behind her was broken. Stef how did this happen. Why didn't we see it?" She said this in a rush. Her voice rambling and mixed with broken sobs.

"It was the adrenaline. She probably didn't even feel herself getting shot. It was like you said, she ducked and the window shattered." Her heart dropped as she looked at Stef's face when she said this. A new panic was starting to form in Stef's eyes. "The window shattered..." she repeated and in a second was inspecting Callie.

Stef had Callie's torso on her lap one of her hands was keeping pressure on the wound. The other was moving around in a frantic way around Callie's back. Lena knew what was coming, but it still didn't prepare her for the words that came out of Stef's mouth.

"It was a through and through" Stef sighed and Jude stared shaking in Lena's arms.

"W-What? What does that mean?" Mariana asked.

"It means that the bullet went through her, that's why the widow shattered." Jesus explained as he walked into the room once more, the phone presses against his ear. "Ambulance says they're a minute away." That was a relief, because Lena refused to believe that Callie wouldn't make it. The second that ambulance got there Callie would get the help she needed and everything would be okay. It had to be.

There was a knock at the door and Jesus ran out of the room and down the stairs. When he came back the paramedics where behind him. Lena watched as they placed Callie in a stretcher while Stef answered their questions. As the paramedics moved, so did the family. They all followed behind as the paramedics pulled the stretcher inside of the ambulance.

"Momma." the whisper had been so low Lena thought she imagined it, but the look on Stef's face told her she hadn't. Callie was calling out for her. Lena turned her head towards Stef and gave her a quick peck in the lips.

"I'll go with her. Take the kids to the hospital, I don't want them driving in this state." She told her wife, who nodded her head before going back inside the house. Lena climbed inside the ambulance and took a seat next to Callie. She let the paramedics do their job and watched insert needles in Callie's arm. She winced slightly and Lena took Callie's hand in hers.

"Momma?" Callie asked uncertainly, fighting to make eye contact with Lena. She sounded so weak, her voice filled with pain.

"Yes baby, it's me. I'm right here by your side. Don't worry, you'll be okay." Lena wasn't sure who she was trying to convince, Callie or herself. Both, definitely both. Callie opened her mouth again to say something but Lena cut her off.

"No baby don't say anything. It's all gonna be okay. We're gonna be okay." Callie grasped her hand tighter and shifted her head slightly to look at Lena.

"Momma, if something happens..." Callie insisted, panting with every word, her eyes coming in and out of focus. "If something happens, please don't let Jude shut out. Don't send him away." Lena's eyes filled with tears as she nodded, allowing Callie to continue. "I want to thank you and mom, for everything you've done for the both of us. And I'm so sorry I gave you so much disappointment. Tell Mariana not to blame herself. Tell her, Jesus and Jude that they're the best siblings anyone could ask for. They'll always have a special place in my heart. You and Stef too." Her voice was strained and she gasped between every sentence. Lena was confused, why was she telling her this? It almost sounded like... No, it couldn't be.

"Callie, sweetie you can tell them yourself. You're going to make it out of this. You hear me? You're going to be okay."

"Momma please, promise me" she sounded so small and hopeless.

"I promise baby. I'll tell them if you can't." Lena replied, her voice shaking and she fought with the lump in her throat. She had a message for everyone in the family, a goodbye message. Well almost everyone, Lena didn't hear her say anything about...

"Momma?" she sounded scared now, almost like small child who had done something wrong.

"Yes baby?" Lena said, grasping Callie's hand tighter. She tried not to look at all the tubes connected to her daughter. She fought against the small machine that showed how dangerously low Callie's heartbeat was. Even the paramedic had a few tears in her eyes. How far away was the hospital? They should have been there already.

"Please tell Brandon I'm sorry for all the pain I've caused him." Callie's voice was getting smaller and lower now, her grip on Lena's hand loosening. "Please tell him" she gasped and her breathing started becoming more erratic.

"I'm sorry, but I'm gonna need to put the mask on her." The paramedic said, and Lena nodded frantically. Anything to save her baby.

"Momma please tell him..." she had tears running down her cheeks. Her eyes were glossy and far away, and this scared Lena more than anything. "Tell him I love him." she finally finished in a small whisper. Lena's eyes widened at the confession, but didn't have time to dwell on it as she felt Callie's hand drop. A loud beeping filled the small space and Lena's sobbed. "She's Crashing" she heard the paramedic say. Tears blurred Lena's vision.

"Callie please! Please stay with us." Lena pleaded as the paramedic worked on starting Callie's heart again. The ambulance came to a stop and the doors flew open. They had arrived at the hospital, but were they too late? The paramedic was still working on getting Callie's heart to beat again, but so far it wasn't working. Lena closed her eyes; she couldn't bear to look at the scene in front of her. No this had to be a nightmare. Callie had already gone through so much, this couldn't be it. A small beep startled Lena from her thoughts. It was ironic. The beep that had made her feel like her heart had been ripped out of her chest was the same filled her with hope once again.

"We got her back." the paramedic said and with that Callie's stretcher was pulled away by the Doctors. Lena ran after them, she never wanted to leave Callie's side.

"Baby, I'm right here. Keep fighting, fight for us. Our family will be here soon. Come back to us Baby." A nurse was now holding Lena as the Doctors dragged Callie through some wooden doors. She wanted to go after her, but she knew that she couldn't.

"Miss, we're gonna need you to fill a few forms. I'm sorry, but you can't go in there. Before I go, is there anything I should know? Any allergies? Lena shook her head, she felt empty. "And blood type? It says here she lost a lot of blood. It would really help if we knew." Lena knew this. She had made it her job to know her family's blood type, but she hoped to never have to use this knowledge.

"B positive." she answered taking the forms from the nurse's hands. "Please save my baby; don't let anything happen to her."

"We'll do our best. Please take a seat in the waiting room. I'll come and update you on her condition as soon as I can." and with that the nurse went through the wooden doors. Shaking Lena made her way to the waiting room. She took a seat in a large, unoccupied area because she knew her family would be there soon. She tried to concentrate on the papers but her mind was racing. It seemed like an eternity before her family ran in the waiting room. She ran to them and they formed a group hug, drawing comfort from each other.

"How is she?" Stef asked.

"She crashed once on the way here, but they got her back. I don't know where she is now." she replied. She sent a look to Stef, one that said we'll talk later. She didn't want to share Callie's messages just yet. She didn't want the rest of the kids to know that Callie was giving up. Lena remembered Callie's last and she realized that Brandon didn't know what was happening. Stupid no technology rule. He needed to be here. Lena knew that he wouldn't forgive himself if he wasn't.

"Kids why don't you take a seat? Give me a second with Mom." Lena watched as the kids took seats next to each other. Her hear warming as she saw Jude get sandwiched between the twins. They all looked so broken and Lena wondered if they could come back from this.

"What is it honey?" Stef asked.

"Callie gave me messages for all of us. Stef she doesn't think she's gonna make it. She gave me goodbye messages. And all I can think about is that Brandon should be here. I don't know where he stands on his feelings for her, but she made hers pretty clear. She told me she loved him Stef, he needs to be here. And besides that, the family needs to stay together." Lena watched Stef's reaction, expecting her to put up a fight when it came to Callie and Brandon's feelings. Instead she sighed and nodded her head.

"Alright, I'll go get him." She said.

"No. Let me go get him Stef. Give me Courtney's address and I'll go. You're still mad at him and for some reason Callie came to me. I should be the one to get him." again Lena expected Stef to fight her on it, but she was surprised when the later handed her car keys.

"Be careful out there love." Stef leaned in for a small kiss and wiped the tears from Lena's face. She pulled away and typed something on her phone. "I just texted you the address. The car is parked right outside this building. We'll be waiting for you to get back." Lena embraced her wife before she walked out and towards the car. Once inside she let the GPS guide her towards her destination. It was going to be a 10 minute drive to Courtney's house. Lena could only hope to find a way to break the news to him in that time.
