Chapter 2
Danielle had set her alarm for 10am, but as usual her damn internal clock had her stirring before seven. She groaned and she stretched her stiff limbs glaring at the clock reading 7:30. She didn't even bothered trying to find sleep again. She knew from past experience, once she was up, she was up.
Making her way to the kitchen she started her coffee and threw some bread in the toaster. Gramps had stocked her up with the basics, but she was going to have to make a grocery run today. She started to tear up as the smell of the coffee filled the room. It was silly that coffee of all things was making her cry, but that had been the first thing her mom had done every morning, and Danielle would always wake to the smell of coffee and toast.
Stray tears ran down her cheeks as memories bombarded her. Her mother teasing her about her bedhead, talking about boys while her mother brushed her wet hair, and her mother burning the cake she had attempted to make for Danielle's birthday, despite the fact that she was an awful cook. Danielle laughed softly at that last memory. It was one of her favorites. She had been laughing hysterically as she watched her mother put out the fire in the oven with the fire extinguisher.
Danielle shook her head attempting to clear the memories from the movie screen in her head. She couldn't go there, if she let them keep coming, she was going to break. She was not going to be weak.
After finishing her breakfast she jumped in the shower, letting the hot water ease her tense muscles. It was going to be another long day. She had errands to run and then she would be working with Gramps again tonight. Although, she had to admit that she was looking forward to work. Especially if Connor and Murphy came in again. She blushed as she thought of them.
Danielle grabbed the bottle of vanilla scented body wash and put a generous amount in her hand. Starting at her neck, she massaged the knots she felt there and in her shoulders. Moving lower she rubbed her chest and gasped as she moved over her nipples, pinching slightly. She couldn't stop the images of the boys flooding through her mind. She kept alternating between breasts with her left hand while her right had traveled lower down her stomach before stroking her center softly.
Danielle let out a soft moan and she imagined it being Murphy's hand touching her there while she imagined Connors massaging her chest. She slid her middle finger inside her pumping softly as her breathing became faster and uneven. She lifted her right leg so her foot rested on the side of the tub while she stroked her clit faster, groaning louder and she felt herself shake slightly and her lower abdomen tighten.
"Murphy," she gasped as she hit her release while still furiously rubbing her clit, "Connor."
As she came down from her high, she felt slightly embarrassed. Not only had she just met these men, but she had also imagined both of them. She found them both extremely attractive.
Danielle sighed sadly realizing that nothing could ever happen with them, even if the opportunity presented itself. Not only would she not be able to choose between them, but she didn't want to come between the brothers. You didn't need to know them well to see how close they were. She wondered if it was a twin thing.
Jumping out of the shower, Danielle dried her hair and made herself up like she had last night. She threw on her jeans, purple v-neck t-shirt, and white toms before heading downstairs.
Gramps must have still been asleep because the bar was empty. She left him a note so he would know where she was and headed out.
*******break*******
The grocery store had only been a few blocks away so she decided to walk. She wanted to enjoy the fresh air. She knew she wasn't in the safest area, but she figured she would be fine in broad daylight.
She made it to the store without any issues and quickly grabbed some things to get her through the week. She had the cooking gene that her mother had lacked. Thanking the cashier, she grabbed her bags and made her way back to McGinty's.
Danielle had only made it a block before she started to feel uneasy, as if someone was watching her. She hesitated a moment and glanced behind her but didn't see anything, but as she made to turn back, she saw something moving behind a car that was parked about fifteen feet from her. Turing her head more to get a better look she saw what appeared to be a man in a black sweatshirt with the hood up covering his face.
Turning abruptly, Danielle picked up her pace. Her heart rate increased as she started walking faster, though she was pretty sure she was at more of a jog at this point. She was a block away and silently prayed that she'd make it back before the man could try anything. She didn't even know if he was still following her. For all she knew he had given up.
Her hopes were dashed when she felt a strong grip on the back of her jacket. She made to yell but was cut off when a hand clamped over her mouth and she was pulled into the alley she had been passing.
Danielle dropped her bags and began struggling against her attacker. She kicked back, nailing him hard in the shin, causing the man to gasp in pain. His grip lessened momentarily and she used that to her advantage, ripping his hand from her mouth and screaming as loud as she could.
She was silenced then the man had regained his composure yanking her by the arm and grabbing her neck.
"Stupid bitch!" he yelled, slamming her into the wall. He put more pressure to her neck, making it difficult to breathe. Danielle clawed at his hands but it had little effect on his grip. She swiped at his face, making contact with his left eye.
The man hissed before pulling his fist back to hit her.
Danielle closed her eyes and flinched waiting for the blow, but was surprised when he had let go of her completely. She slid down the wall gasping for air and wincing slightly at the soreness before looking up to see what the hell was going on.
"M-murphy?" Danielle gasped, staring wide eyed as he pinned her attacker to the opposite wall.
"Are ye alright lass?" a voice sounded from her side and she felt a hand smooth down her back. She jumped slightly and turned to face Connor. His eyes shown with concern but then hardened when he saw the bruises that were already beginning to form on her neck.
"Connor?" Danielle asked in a confused tone. Where the hell had they come from? One second she was alone and the next they were there, and she couldn't be more grateful.
"Ya son o' a bitch!" Murphy growled slamming the man into the wall again.
Connor helped Danielle to her feet and kept an arm wrapped around her waist, letting her lean against him. She heard Murphy muttering to the man in a language she didn't recognize, but she could hear the threatening tone loud and clear. When the man spit something back in the same language, Murphy slammed his fist into his face twice before dropping his unconscious body to the ground.
Danielle continued to shake as the adrenaline wore off and Connors hand rhythmically ran up and down her back trying to sooth her. Murphy walked up and tilted her head, gently running his fingers down her sore neck, checking the damage that had been done.
He looked into Danielles eyes lifting his hands to her cheeks and wiping the tears from her face. She hadn't even realized she was crying.
"Ya alright lass?" Murphy asked, repeating his brothers earlier question.
Danielle nodded. "Y-yeah." She spoke softly. "Thank you so much." She managed a small smile.
"Where did you guys come from?" She asked.
"We were headed out for work when we hear a scream. We live 'round the corner and came to check it out." Murphy explained.
"Good thing we did too." Connor commented, squeezing her waist a bit tighter, glaring in the direction of her attacker.
Danielle nodded and silently thanked the lord that they had shown up when they did.
"Lets get ya home." Murphy tipped his head to the entrance of the alley, walking over to pick up what he assumed were her bags, while Connor followed leading Danielle with a hand on the small of her back.
With Connor on her left and Murphy falling in on her right, they made their way home. Danielle smiled slightly. It wasn't how she imagined getting to see them today, and if she could have chosen another way she definitely would have, but name one girl that wouldn't feel a bit giddy about being rescued by two very attractive men.
When McGinty's came into view her smile faltered. She couldn't wait to explain this to Gramps.
