One day, our dream will end. But today, we will not let it end.
Monty sat with a tiny Rose sitting on his shoulder.
It had been a day since he found the little Rose waddling on his table. Much to his own surprise, what he saw was not a dream. Everything about the hand-sized girl was real, as unreal as it sounded.
For years, he found few problems with fantasies. He loved fantasies. As evidenced in his new show, RWBY, fantasies were able to inspire him to a large extent. Writing out scripts for such fantasies made him feel all giddy in the inside, as the creative spirit within him never wanted to stop making things.
For the first time in his life, he found a problem with fantasies.
What on Earth am I supposed to do with this tiny Rose? Oum thought, glancing at the girl who sat on his shoulder quietly. He decided earlier to prepare some work he could finish at his office at Rooster Teeth, but ever since he discovered Ruby, he felt confused on what to do. More than making him worry, she made him feel curious.
His mind clouded too much for him to work properly, Oum stopped working and plucked the girl off of his shoulder, softly placing her on the table. Her eyes were painted with curiosity, as she soon began to wander off toward a cutting knife-
Wait. That's a bit too dangerous.
Oum thought hard. He did not want her to touch the cutting knife and accidentally cut herself, so he quickly snatched the knife before putting sunglasses at where the knife once was instead. No one was to question the godlike "sunglasses-out-of-nowhere" trick he secretly mastered in his office.
Thankfully, the girl seemed to transition her attention to the sunglasses, as she quietly walked up to the object with curious eyes. Soon, she stood in front of the sunglasses, staring at the new object like it was some sort of ancient artifact.
I still don't know whether having her in my room is a good idea or not, Oum thought worriedly. My room can get boring pretty quickly; but then again, where else can she go other than my room?
His thoughts soon dispersed, however, when the girl reached out and touched the sunglasses. The glasses slightly moved away from her before she properly grabbed the object. She then proceeded to drag the sunglasses for no reason, a happy smile etched over her face.
"…"
Oum had to admit, she looked adorable despite the fact that he had no idea on what the heck she was exactly doing.
As she dragged his sunglasses around with her small portion of strength, Oum stood up from his workshop table and walked over to his bed. He kicked his legs forward as he majestically fell on his bed.
The familiar feeling of the bed wrapping its blankets around him felt nice.
…I really should go to work soon. I can't stand just sitting around here doing so little things.
As Oum fell into his own train of thoughts, he did not notice that Ruby had stopped dragging his sunglasses around the table. Blinking at Oum with her silver eyes, she turned to the sunglasses before looking back at him.
The girl looked around, as if trying to find a way to get off of the table. She waddled her way over to one of the edges of the table, finding a fairly large gap between the table she was on and the chair Oum sat on earlier. Her eyes resting on one of the armrests, she puffed her cheeks before blowing a small amount of air out.
With a daring heart, the tiny Rose leapt, landing on the right armrest on all fours. Standing back up, little Ruby dusted her dress before hopping again, this time landing on the seat itself. She soon found herself standing on the ground.
Walking up to the bed Oum lay on, Ruby began to walk with a happy smile on her face. She continued to walk for an entire minute, reaching the bed as soon as the minute ended. Staring up at large wall before her, Ruby blinked.
She soon jumped on a tiny wooden platform, which happened to be the knob for Oum's bed's cabinet. He enjoyed putting a lot of random stuff underneath his bed, so the cabinet barely budged… though, Ruby's light weight already made it impossible for her to move the cabinet in the first place.
Platform after platform, Ruby slowly climbed her way up the bed.
When she reached the peak of the bed, she walked clumsily to Oum, who remained lying on his back. She stopped moving right next to his head.
Reaching out with her tiny hands, Ruby quietly grabbed Oum's hair as she tugged at it.
…?
Confused by the small tugs of his hair, the man softly turned his head, wondering if Ruby was the one doing it. And he was right on point; the girl stood next to his head, smiling with a small open mouth.
Oum resisted the urge to hug the little Rose as he plucked the girl off of the bed, placing her on his chest. Now standing on his black shirt, the tiny Rose proceeded to lie down.
Before rolling around his chest, that is.
He really wondered what to do with such an adorable little thing.
…Maybe I should try making a Yang as well.
The thought was not only tempting, but also scary to ponder over, considering what just happened a day ago. He avoided drawing Yang as much as possible, and he was awarded with having to deal with only one midget the next day.
The next day, Oum discovered that the tiny Ruby liked cookies.
Sheena had made cookies for him and brought them up to his room, with Monty hiding the tiny Rose in a pencil case. The black and red haired girl was thankfully quiet to an amazing extent, though she sometimes made cute noises. A good example came from when he accidentally pinched her cheeks while plucking her out of his pencil case.
She squeaked when he pinched her cheeks. Oum knew that he made a weird face due to how Ruby began to laugh at him with a quiet and soft-pitched voice.
Though Oum had his suspicions, Ruby loved the cookies Sheena made. She was far too small to eat more than one cookie, as eating even half of a single cookie made her extremely full. The way she nibbled on the mixture of bread and chocolate warmed Oum's heart.
When she needed to go to the restroom, the girl held her tummy with a tearful look. Oum quickly put her near a toilet for one minute and went out of the restroom before coming back to pick her up. Don't ask why; it was self-explanatory.
The day went on peacefully, with Ruby waddling around Oum's room as he made last-minute preparations before getting ready to move back to his office.
Author's Notes
Ruby is, at the moment, a chibi. I will point out that not all characters will look like chibis all the time, but many of them will when they initially appear.
