Tris woke up, this time to a new face. This girl looked vicious, with arms so muscular that Tris thought she could pick her up over her head and snap her in half.
"How do you know she's an Ares?" she asked, tucking a stray strand of hair into her camouflage bandana.
Annabeth walked in, followed by another girl so gorgeous that Tris wanted to punch her purely out of jealousy.
"I saw her fight. She's fast, not as fast as me, of course. But she has the skills."
"She could be one of the Big Three." The girl who walked in with Annabeth said.
"I don't know, Piper. I don't think I can handle it if one more pops up." Annabeth smirked, "I think Jason and Percy are more than enough. And I pity her if she has to share a cabin with Percy."
"Can someone please tell me what's going on here?" Tris finally mumbled. It infuriated her, the way they spoke of her as if she wasn't in the same room.
"Clarisse, why don't you take her on a tour?" Piper said.
Clarisse mumbled something under her breath in a language Tris couldn't actually understand, before asking, "You want to stay here, or would you like to look around?"
Tris could see that Clarisse was struggling to maintain her façade of polity.
"Yeah, I'll take the tour." Tris swung her legs off the bed to stand up, but immediately they slipped from under her. She would have fallen flat on her face if Clarisse had not grabbed her and straightened her up. Her fingers dug so hard into her shoulders that Tris winced, but was grateful for not having to kiss the floor.
"Thanks." She said.
"You sure you want to walk around?" Clarisse asked, not in a concerned way. It was as if she would kill her if she gave any answer other than the affirmative.
"Yeah, I can." Tris said, wobbling around and trying to get the blood flowing back, "I can use the walk, actually. I need the distraction."
Wordlessly, Clarisse walked out of the door, and Tris followed.
"So, what is this place? Why am I here? What-"
Clarisse gave her a look that clearly said 'please, for the love of God, shut up'
Tris wasn't usually one to stop asking questions, but even she wasn't stupid enough to defy someone twice her size. She reminded her of Molly, who had bullied her throughout her time at Dauntless.
Just the thought of Dauntless made her heart contract painfully.
"This," she said, looking at one of the cabins, "is the Aphrodite cabin."
The cabin looked like a dollhouse. Starting from the walls to the bed sheets, everything was a disorienting shade of pink.
"You'd think Barbie was a Greek god, judging by this cabin," Clarisse rolled her eyes, "Except for Piper, I don't think anyone has half a brain here."
"Wait, Greek god?" Tris whirled around to face Clarisse, "Nobody said anything about Greek mythology."
Clarisse gave her an exasperated look, "Didn't you figure this out already? Haven't you even read anything about Greek mythology?"
Tris told her that where she came from, they didn't learn any history but their own. Clarisse's expression grew more puzzled with each word.
"No wonder David had to go through all of that mess to get you."
"Wait, David brought me here?"
"Hiya, Tris" David emerged from another cabin, "Remember me?"
