"Come on, Reed! Let's go to the beach! I'm thinking it's a beach day." Shane declared as he came into Reed's room. Reed just smiled back nervously from where he was sitting on his bed, knowing that his secret will be exposed.
"I have to go to the bathroom." Reed quietly excused himself.
Reed rolled up his sleeves. Fresh wounds from the night before were looking a bit better than they did the past night. He went on to poke one of the pink lines on his arm, only to flinch from the sting and feel the stickiness of the cocoa oil he'd applied before bed. He sniffed the cocoa oil; he had to admit that it smelled nice. He rolled up his pants, only to reveal more red and pink marks from cuttings. He dropped the pant legs and sighed. His only hope was Logan Wright.
"Reed! Are you done yet?" Shane asked from outside the door.
"Yeah. I just need to grab something from Logan." Reed replied as he walked out.
"Logan?" Shane asked, not bothering to ask any more questions and just sat on Reed's bed, busying himself by making pictures using the cracks on the ceiling.
Reed knocked on Logan's door.
"What?" Logan answered when he opened the door.
"Erm… Hi." Reed mumbled.
"What do you want, Van Kamp?" Logan replied, crankily.
"I-I- needsomefoundationorconcealer." Reed blurted out.
"Some what?" Logan asked, getting annoyed.
"Some foundation or concealer…" Reed's voice trailed off, and he looked down at his feet. His fingers tugged on his sleeves and dragged them down a bit lower.
Logan stood there for a bit, processing the request before going back in and shutting the door behind him. A disappointed Reed began to panic internally as he started his way back to his room.
"Do you want your foundation and concealer or not?" Logan asked. He was once again standing in his doorway with the two in his hands.
Reed's face lightened up as he walked back and taking the items.
"Thank you! Thank you very much!" Reed shouted.
"Mm… Enjoy. I'm going back to bed." Logan groaned as he shut the door.
Reed ran back to his room, excitement in his face; the excitement to hide the cuts for the day.
Shane was still there on his bed when Reed walked in, but by now he had fallen asleep. Reed grabbed his swim trunks and a tie-dyed t-shirt and walked back into the bathroom. He began by taking his shirt off. Carefully, squeezing some foundation onto his trembling hands, he rubbed the skin colored goo on his wrist. He then took some concealer and applied it on the cuts. He smiled when the cuts hid behind the makeup.
Grinning, he took his trousers off and repeated the process. He changed into his swim trunks and put on the tie-dyed t-shirt. He walked out of the bathroom feeling happy. He grabbed a pair of Ray-Bans sitting on his drawer chest. Reed went to where Shane was snoozing peacefully.
"Shane, are we going to the beach today?" Reed whined playfully. Shane woke up and grinned as he took Reed's hand and the two boys ran out the door.
