Epilogue
Tracer jolted awake with cold sweat surrounding her face. Her blankets were drenched with it as well. She then began to hyperventilate and look around her.
Looking for him...
Looking for Scout.
"Scout?" She called out his name tiredly, wincing her eyes as she looked around her.
Tracer's heartbeat accelerated when she heard no reply.
She looked to her side and pulled the covers down...
She sighed in relief.
"Oh, thank god..." her throat tightened and her lips started to whimper, "Thank you.." her eyes started to water up as she lunged her arms around him.
Scout was safe.
Beside her, and in her bed, not being killed by Reaper... not dead.
A generous amount of tears began to flow out of her as she buried her face on his chest.
Scout suddenly woke up with a light grunt, squinting his eyes at Tracer.
"Tracer?" He shifted in his position and pulled her in closer to him, pulling the covers over her neck and grasping her with a firm hold of his warm arm. He could feel that she was crying about something, the wet tears on his chest becoming evident as soon as he woke up.
"What happened, sweet cheeks?" He yawned out concerningly, holding her tighter when he realized she was crying.
She sniffled and snuggled onto him harder.
"I just... just had a bad dream-" she choked out, crying harder against him, her sobs getting louder as she remembered the grizzly details of it.
Scout hushed her by gently rubbing at her back, giving her pure embrace and safety in his hold.
"Whatever it was about, it ain't real, Tracer. If it was about me dying, then you can throw it in the gutta', cause y'know..."
He chuckled and rubbed the tip of his nose against her ear.
"I don't die easily."
He gently picked her face up off his chest so he could look at her.
"Don't be scared, Tracer. I'm always here for you. Even when I ain't here for you." He whispered, holding the sides of her face, looking straight into her eyes with a smile that translated to, 'I will never leave you.'
The brown shade of her eyes seemed to fill with newfound happiness and relief at his touch.
"Scout," She sniffled.
She could see it in his eyes, how much he cared. How he would always be there for her, and how he would even walk through the valley of death for her.
Tracer couldn't take him for granted — Never again...
"I love you.."
She placed her whimpering lips upon his, her eyes softening as her sobs ceased, her hands gripping tighter onto him, craving him with every ounce of want in her body.
Tracer parted her lips from his and traveled her hands through his hair.
"Don't ever leave me, Scout. Ever. Again."
Scout scoffed at the impossibility of that happening.
"Don't know where you got that from, but I got it." Scout smiled, "Stop havin' bad dreams about me?" He asked in return.
"Yes, gladly." She smiled and placed her head gently upon his chest, going closer to the nook of his neck, addicted to his warmth.
"Awesome... let's get some sleep. Queens like you deserve it... and cute boys like me." Scout said, burying her in his infinite warmth.
Tracer closed her eyes, a dumb smile on her face as she drifted off to sleep.
Just a quick, random one-shot I wrote on while I was bored.
I haven't done sum like this before, so why not?
To be honest, I don't even know if this is angst or not, I just put it down cause I think it is.
But yeah, the main theme of this story I was going for was regret and relief, and I'm pretty sure I got both of 'em done right! Also wanted to try writing Reaper's character, figured it was easy enough, cause all I hear in the voice chat is 'Die' and 'Death' when there's a Reaper on the team, applied it to the story and bam-!
We get edgy Reaper!
Anyways, thanks for reading :)
