A/N: I do not own Naruto or Power Rangers.
Over the next six months Adam and Jason helped me with my assimilation into their culture. I was also learning how to control the gem and the power suit that Adam and Billy were designing to harness the gem's power. I think they were impressed by how fast I learned. Adam introduced me to his wife Aisha who took me out to get new clothes. I promised them that I would find a way to pay them back for all their kindness.
Billy's attitude towards me did not get any better. Regardless of what I did, he did not like me at all. Adam and Aisha convinced him to allow me to help out with the zords in case anything ever happened to him. He tried to keep me from learning by going faster than he thought I could keep up with. I countered him by taking all of the books that he offered and read through them all. The day after I passed Billy's little quizzes, was the day we met our yellow ranger.
"Kimi we have to sign you up for school. Since we don't know what level you are at in our school system, we have to test you." Adam told me one morning as we were eating breakfast.
"What kind of test? Physical or intellectual?" I asked him curiously. I was used to exams like the Chunin and Jonin exams. It involved both intellectual and physical aspects to test for the next level.
"Intellectual. The main subjects are science, English, history, and math" Adam explained.
"I'll need to read up on your guys' history then. I don't think they want a history of the five nations." I stated as I finished breakfast. I stood up, cleaned off my plate, and walked into my room. I opened the only history book I had left to read and started to skim through it. I had already read through the other four that I borrowed from Adam. I felt that I was relatively ready for the tests but I did not want to make any stupid mistakes. I studied up until Aisha told me that we were supposed to go to the school.
Aisha and I arrived at the high school where I would take the tests. She explained to me that typically, people from my age group would go to middle school, which from what I understood was the equivalent of taking the Chunin exams and becoming a Chunin. Aisha led me to the testing room and wished me luck. She told me that she would be out front when I finished.
I walked into the room and found that I was one of the first to get there. There was only one other girl there. She looked to be about fourteen, maybe fifteen with long blond hair and eyes that were a pale green. She was incredibly beautiful but looked extremely confused and scared. I scanned the room for my name and found it a few desks away from the girl. There weren't many names sitting on the desks which made me wonder why people were taking this test. Along with the other girl and myself, there were only four other names. I walked over to the desk with my name and took my seat.
"Do you think you're prepared for this?" the girl asked me as soon as I sat down. I looked over at her curiously. Did people always talk about a test before taking it? Was it as intimidating as the Chunin exams?
"I don't know, I guess we will find out" I told her softly. Adam told me I should make some friends while I am here so why not start now.
"This is the second time I'm taking it" she told me looking at me. Her pale green eyes had small flecks of purple in them which reminded me of something but I couldn't place it.
"Was it that hard?" I asked although I did not think it would be.
"It seemed that way, but I was told not to study for it'"
"Why not, shouldn't you study for every test?" I asked curiously.
"Because the doctors wanted to find out what all I remembered. I woke up one morning in a hospital bed with no memories of who I am. All I know is that my name is Samantha Bell" she told me as she motioned to the name tag on her desk.
"My name is Yamamoto Makimi, you can call me Kimi" I told her as she looked down at my name tag.
"Why do you say your last name first?" Samantha asked me.
"I'm Japanese, it is tradition in my culture to say the last name first" I told her. Adam and I had created a cover story on why I was taking the test and why I was here.
"So why are you all the way over here?"
"I'm studying abroad for a little while. But since the Japanese curriculum is different than American curriculum, my home school wants me to take this exam to place me accurately" I told her. She smiled at me as the door opened and three more people walked in. There were two boys and one girl who walked in. As they took their seats, I read their names. The girl's name was Sotiria Sharpe; one boy's name was Kai Whitfield and the other was Dimitri Alexander. After a few more minutes, an older man walked in and gave us the rules for the test. Shortly after, the test began.
I finished the test only an hour into the test. It didn't seem that hard but there were other people still working on it. Samantha and one of the boys, Kai, had finished just before I had. When I made it back to the front of the school, Kai had vanished and Samantha was sitting on the steps. Aisha was sitting in the car in front of the school.
"Hope to see you in school" Samantha told me as I passed her. I looked back at her and smiled.
"Yeah, I'll see you there" I told her before making my way to the car. I opened the door and slipped into the car.
"How'd it go?" Aisha asked as she started the car and started to drive off.
"It seemed easy" I told her as I watched Samantha until she was out of sight.
"Did you make any friends?" Aisha asked.
"I talked with one of the other students taking the test." I told her. "She doesn't remember who she is. I found it interesting."
"That's so sad. Hopefully she gets her memory back soon." I agreed with Aisha and the rest of the ride was silent. I had a feeling that I would be seeing a lot more of Samantha in the next while.
Later that day, Adam and Aisha took me out to the park for a picnic. I had asked Adam why he was taking time off from working on the preparations for the invasion. I was so used to training constantly with little relaxation time so taking the time to have a picnic seemed odd to me.
"You've been working so hard in the last six months so this is a reward. Relaxing is always a good thing" Adam told me as he set the blanket up.
"I'm not used to relaxing before battles. Always be ready for a fight because you can be attacked at any moment." I replied to him as I helped Aisha set up the food.
"That's why you keep your gem on you. Although the power suit is not quite ready for full use yet, the gem will protect you." Aisha handed me a few sandwiches and some chips. I was slowly learning the foods that people of this world ate. With each passing day, I missed my home a little more but I knew I could never return. I would be locked in a cell for eternity.
Adam, Aisha, and I had fun as we ate. I was surprised at how much fun I was having and how at ease I felt with these two. It reminded me of how at ease I was with my mother and grandfather before Deidara left us. It was almost like we were a family. It was easy to see how Adam and Aisha loved each other and it was nice to hear about their adventures as teenagers.
We had just finished eating when we heard screams coming from the other side of the park. All three of us stood up immediately and looked for the source of the screams. From where I was, I could see some sort of creature attacking a group of people.
"Adam, should I use the suit or attack as is?" I asked after he found the source of the screams.
"There is a less powerful suit that is ready to work. It won't protect you against the attacks as well but it will hide your identity. Aisha help evacuate the area" Adam commanded. As soon as Aisha was gone, Adam showed me how to transform into the weaker suit. Really it covered everything but our eyes. Adam had a bag attached to the belt; looking down I saw that I had a similar one. Adam's suit was red, which made me wonder if his element was the obvious one of fire or if it would be something else. But then these gems did not make any sense did they? I didn't have time to question it as he bolted to the creature.
"Hey ugly!" I heard Adam shout to the creature. The monster turned its attention to Adam instead of the civilian it was attacking. I slid around to the back of the monster to the civilian. I was surprised to see Samantha backed up against a tree afraid. I went up to her and helped her stand up.
"Come on we need to get out of here" I told her as I pulled her away from the monster. We got to the edge of the park, where she slumped against another, much larger tree.
"Are you alright?" I asked her as I checked her over quickly for any injuries. I noticed she was staring at the bag on my hip. I wondered if one of the gems were glowing for her. I pulled it off the belt and opened it to see the green and yellow gems. I heard Samantha gasp at the sight of them.
"It's glowing" Samantha mumbled. I couldn't tell which one she was staring at but I held my hand out to her.
"Which one is glowing?" I asked her as she moved the cloth to get a better look at the gems.
"The yellow one. Can I pick it up?" she asked me curiously.
"Just don't touch the green one" I told her before she reached for the gem. She was able to grab the yellow gem without touching the green one and I could see the power of the yellow gem surge through her. I pulled off the hood and face mask to see her better.
"Kimi?" she asked as she looked up at me. I nodded before my attention was diverted to an oncoming chakra signature. I turned around and saw the same creature coming towards us. I pushed Samantha away from me before throwing a punch at the creature as a distraction before performing my Kōri-no-tō jutsu to enclose it in one place. After that I sent ice stakes into the tower through the ground. I could feel them make contact with the creature and waited until I no longer felt the creature fighting back. I released the ice walls thinking that the creature would be dead. But I was wrong; the creature jumped out and attacked as soon as it could get through. I immediately put up a barrier of ice, grabbed Samantha and ran.
"What is that thing?" Samantha asked as she ran behind me.
"I don't know but we need to get to Adam. He probably has a better idea than I do" I told her as I rounded around to where I last saw Adam. He was slumped up against a tree knocked out. I ran up to him with Samantha right behind me and put a barrier of ice around us.
"Adam, wake up" I said as I gently, well kind of gently, slapped his face. He did not wake up at all but I could not wait for him to. The creature was pounding on the barrier. With the strength that thing had, it could break them down within minutes easily.
"Samantha, stay here and watch over Adam. I'm going to go out there and try to take that thing down" I told her before I melted myself into the ice barrier. When I walked out of it, on the other side of the barrier, I immediately grabbed the creature's attention. Instead of trying to fight the thing like I was, I decided to face it head on. I created a sword of ice and tried to make any hits I could. Each one bounced off of the creature like it was nothing. Its armor had no weak spots so I needed to look for one outside of the armor. I searched for one as I dodged hits and lead it away from the barrier. Finally I saw the opening I was looking for. I created a clone of myself and jumped into the tree behind the thing. I watched as the creature attacked the clone and it dispelled, waiting for the right time to attack. Before the creature could walk up to the barrier, I jumped for it and sung the sword at its head. I was able to make a clean slice and cut its head off causing the creature to fall to the ground dead. After I made sure it was not going to get back up, I removed the ice barrier. The creature faded to dust as soon as the barrier came down. It wasn't until this point that I realized that it was a demon from my world.
"Kimi?" I heard Adam's weak voice call out. I turned to him and Samantha to see both of them giving me this confused look.
"Where did that thing go?" Samantha asked. Adam turned his attention to Samantha, as if he was just now realizing she was there.
"I killed it" I told her as I walked over to them. I quickly introduced Samantha to Adam and vice versa, making sure to explain the situation with the gems.
"We should return to base to explain this to her" Adam suggested. Samantha and I agreed and we made our way back to the car. Aisha was waiting there, our forgotten picnic packed up again and in the car.
As soon as we made it to the house again, Adam led us inside and had Sam sit down on the couch to explain the power. Adam tried to explain it but realized he himself had no idea what or where exactly the power came from. That's when I stood up.
"The creature we faced was a demon from my world. That means that whoever let Namonia out of her prison followed me here, probably with her" I told them softly as Adam and Billy stared at me.
"You made it seem like you didn't know much about her" Adam said calmly.
"I lied" I told him casually. I knew he was going to be pissed and it would be another way for Billy to try to get me to leave but I refused. I had completed part of my mission but this was the difficult part.
"What do you mean you lied?" Billy asked aggressively. I saw Aisha roll her eyes annoyed.
"Namonia is not the 'Dark Queen' she is a fallen goddess. Whoever gave her that name did not know her true heritage. To release her from her prison would mean the end of the world but it is not because she is the queen of darkness." I told them as I started to pace.
"How do you know her?" Aisha asked me as she followed me with her eyes.
"Mutual acquaintance" I muttered as I thought about how I was going to explain this power to them. Neither Adam nor Billy really knew what it was but if it was used incorrectly it would be horrible.
"So why are you fighting her?"
"What do you know about the gems?"
"Why did you lie to us?" at this point I did not know who was talking, only that questions were being throw out.
"Namonia wishes to rule the world and she will not stop at just this world. I fight her to protect the innocent. I lied because I did not know how much you knew about her; I needed to know how serious you were in this fight. I know more about those gems than you do but I cannot give too much information about it. Just know that we need to be careful when we use it."
"Why can't you tell us anything about it?" Billy asked angrily. I sighed before rolling my eyes at him.
"I can tell you some stuff but not as much as you would like to know."
"What can you tell us?" Samantha asked.
"Adam has the red gem that controls the element of thunder. Samantha has the yellow gem that controls the element of lightening. I have the black gem that controls the element of ice. There are five other gems out there. There is the pink gem that controls the element of water, the green gem that controls the element wind, the blue gem that controls the element of earth, the white gem that controls the element of fire, and the purple gem that controls the element of light. Together, the eight gems can stop Namonia and reseal her at the least. The creators of the gems chose the wielder who was best fit to handle it."
"But we only have six of the gems. Where are the other two?" Adam asked after a moment of silence.
"Probably already with their wielders. As you said Adam the rest of the wielders will reveal themselves as needed." I told them before getting up and moving towards my room.
"I'm going to bed I suggest you do the same thing" I told them before walking out of the room. I vaguely heard Aisha telling Samantha that she would have a room at the house if she wanted it but for tonight she would drive her to wherever she was staying at.
