Chapter 2: Surprise Landing

It was probably the most awful sensation he had encountered so far while travelling with the gang.

"GOD DAMN IT MONOKA!" Kurogane swore, picking himself off the ground as he staggered slightly due to the sudden dizziness. "YOU BETTER DO A BETTER JOB NEXT TIME OR I"LL..!"

Then, a soft thud came from behind him cut short his swearing and the tall man turned around in time to see his lean companion elegantly landing on his feet some distance away.

"Wizards." The raven scoured, deliberately rolling his eyes as he proceeded to bend down to pick up his sword. Souhi glimmered just so slightly under the gentle rays which engulf them in its warmth.

"I'm so gonna learn how to do this." The man muttered, frowning as he pat himself free of dirt. Somehow, the blonde could always land himself on his feet while he always fail to do so. Out of habit, he added the same exact question he always asked upon landing in a new country.

"Oi kid, how's Sakura-hime doing?"

The rustling of the wind between the tress greeted his question and Kurogane looked up to to see a stunned blonde staring intently at him.. almost as if he was looking at him for the first time.

"What?" For some reason, a sense of anger crept upon upon him, 'What the fuck is he staring at?' He spit internally as he turned to look for the princess himself.

Short but neatly trimmed grass filled the fifty meters radius around them..

But not a single one other than the blonde was in sight. Kurogane frowned slightly at the observation.

"£¤¦¨® ¬¢µÀßÞĵ ϒƠºÀßÞ. Sakura, Monoko, Syaoran Ơº ¬¢Àß.".

A series of strange sounds reached his ears made him turned back to look at the idiotic blonde.

"What?" Kurogane frowned, his tone raised by two notches as did his eyebrow. For a moment he couldn't be sure if it was the blonde that had spoken at all. But there isn't anyone around.. He must have missed heard it.

"What did you just say?" He repeated, this time voicing out his entire thought.

"£¤¦¨® ¬¢µÀßÞĵ ϒƠºÀßÞ. Sakura, Monoko, Syaoran Ơº ¬¢Àß." An amused look upon the mage face made his brows furrowed deeper down.

It was Fai's voice no doubt. Smooth and flowery-like as usual, but strangely, he did not quite understand it.

"What the fuck? Is this some sort of joke?" He could not help but growled loudly.

His outburst was only met with a burst of laughter as Fai cracked his heart out before muttering another string of nonsense as he approached him.

That was when then he finally got what Fai was laughing at and déjà Vu hit him like a stone in his face. The scene when they first met flashed onto his mind.

That was when the truth dawned on him. The irritating bastard was laughing at his accent and language. Somehow, he had no idea how, but during, Monoka must have dropped them accidentally here while transporting them to the next location. Without Monoka, they could not understand one another.

"Goodness. Are you serious?"

"Oi Monoka! Kid! Come out!" Kurogane yelled, eyes darting around for any sign of them.

However, no matter how hard he yelled, nobody replied him. Only Fai's small chuckle responded. Without a doubt, there was no one but them in the clearing. A gentle breeze blew past, making the trees rustle in its wake. In the distance, occasional chirping of birds and the soft sound of crickets filled the air.

As the realisation that they were stranded alone sunk in, Kurogane took in the environment, ignoring the blonde who still simply smiling and giggling away. It seemed that they have landed in some forest. Tall trees enveloped the clearing they landed on. Looking through the thick vegetation, the trees and bushes seemed to stretch on for miles.

"Oi Mage! Have you got any idea where are we? Can you use your magic to find the rest?" All these while the blonde who was laughing his guts out now staring amusingly at him. A confused look spread across his face and he simply shrugged, replying him with another line of his flowery slur which he could not understand.

"MAA-GIC" Kurogane enunciated. Fai tilted his head sideways, a confused look hung upon his face as he once again answered in his native tongue.

"You really don't understand what I'm saying, do you?" Kurogane sighed. This time, he pointed to his ear before shaking his head.

At look of sudden enlighten spread across his face at his movement. The mage nodded, smiling then pointed to his ear, shaking his head.

Kurogane rolled his eyes. "Magic." He said, raising his hand as though he was wielding a fireball. Despite his attempt, Fai nevertheless gave him a confused look, following by a flowery sentence of what it sounds like 'I don't know what you're talking about'.

This turned out much harder than he expected. Kurogane hissed loudly. Left with no choice, there was only one thing he could do to convey the message.

"This better work. And you better not laugh. Else i'll kill you." The tall man swore before taking a deep breath. He then proceeded to mimic the mage's usual stance and action while he perform his magic.

At his performance, Fai's face froze for a moment, nodding slightly before he proceeded to usual stance..

Wait.. is he going to use his magic?

For a moment, Kurogane's heart lept a few beat faster, thinking of what kind of magic the mage is about to use.

He watched intently, waiting to see the familiar gold ring of enchantment to circle around him.

...

Minutes passed but it never came.

His actions steadily grew larger and begun to move out of his current position.

Huh?

Could it be that he could not use his magic?

Wait a minute..

Kuroagane blinked as he watched the smile on the blonde widened before a full hearty grin plaster on his face.

That was when he suddenly realise the blonde was not actually performing magic but performing some sort of strange dance.

"Fucking idiot. God damn it." He cussed under his breath.

He can't believe he actually took the idiot for real and thought that he was going to use his magic.

"MAGICCCC!"He growled again, this time he slowed down his word, highlighting every since pronunciation..

Fai stopped short in his action at his sudden outburst, the smile wiped off his face.

"I meant magic! Can you use your magic to find.." He quickly added to see the confused face lit up as he nodded eagerly as though he understood what the raven was saying.

Kurogane watched and waiting for the male to do his trick.

Slowly but gently, Fai started his usual routine as though beginning to cast a spell.

But when the time time comes when he would usually start chanting a spell, the mage begun to hum.

A lively tune filled the air to match his movement.

Worse of all, the smile which he hate the most found it way back to the damn idiot face once again. The idiot was fooling around with him. He could literally feel his blood boiling while he tried to talk to him.

THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY I CAN COMMUNICATE WITH HIM.

"URGHHHH!" Kurogane roared, letting out a steam of exasperation as he stormed off away in the opposite direction.

He did not even bother to wait to see if the blonde had caught up with him and simply head off on his own.

There are more important things to worry about.

But secretly, he knew the blonde would not wander off on his own but follow him.

It would only be a matter of time before he comes along and ask for forgiveness. After all, the stupid idiot cannot stand to be left ignored.

True to his expectation, it took only less than half an hour before Kurogane felt a small tug at the corner of his shirt.

A small grin of triumph curved up at the corner of his lip before he push it back down. He then stopped abruptly before turning to look at the blonde.

That was when he almost wanted to kill himself for making that bad decision.

A pair of puppy eyes, as though glistening with all the hurt and grievance in the world bored into his eyes.

He could feel his blood start to boil again

The male was looking at him as though begging his forgiveness.. He had no idea how the blonde manage to do so, but he seemed to have the ability to make him angry with every single thing he do.

"DON'T EVEN TRY.." He bellowed, and marched off without another word.

For god sake! HE IS A MAN!

This time a more forceful jerk on his shirt made him turn around to see the mage whom have taken back his puppy eyes, replacing with a solemn remorse look.

At his serious expression, Kurogane could not help but feel his temper subsided as though a bucket of water has been thrown on the small fire within his chest. At least that's more like it.. Nevertheless, Kurogane threw him an impatient look as he waited to see what the blonde has to say..

Well.. not that he can understand..

Fai then proceeded to blabber a series of gibberish. Despite the language barrier, Kurogane could tell that he was apologizing and half explaining something to him.

From his hand gestures and tone, he could tell that the mage was talking something about magic and shaking his head dejectedly..

Hmmm..

Magic...

Now that he thought of it, he had not feel an ounce of magic since they arrived here.

Maybe.. Just maybe.. Magic's prohibited in this world?

With the thought in mind, he gestured 'magic' as he did before and signaled with a X using his hands.

At his action, Fai paused, looking slightly stunned before nodding, confirming his hypothesis.

URGH.. Finally i get what is he talking about.. So he meant that he cannot use magic here? So the dance was simply just to show him that he cannot use magic? What an idiot.

At the conclusion, Kurogane let out a sigh of defeat.

"Never mind. Nothing we can do about it anyway. Let's just go. We need to find the rest before the sky gets dark. They shouldn't land too far from here." The tall man muttered, his voice trailing off into silence as he was once reminded that the blonde is unable to understand hi,

"Let's go." Kurogane added, taking a stride forward. While he was checking out the place back when there were still in the clearing, he had already noticed the continuous drift of smoke above the clouds in the distance, which symbolised the presence of people.

For all they know, Syaoran and Sakura could be waiting for them there.

"Oi Fai!" Kurogane stopped short in his steps noting that the blonde was staring in to space thoughtfully and was not following him.

At the sound of his name, Fai jolted up in surprise before grinning broadly. He seemed happy to finally hear a familiar word coming from his travelling companion.

"This way!" Kurogane nudged his head slightly in the direction of the smoke.

"ĵ ϒƠ Kuro-chan!" As though inspired by the his sudden call of his name, the mage beamed before skipping forth in front of him.

Kurogane stopped short in his step, clenching his fist in silence before heading off again. But that simply made the mage want to tease him more as he started calling the string of nicknames he had collated over their journey.

Rolling his eyes, Kurogane growled in response and shook his head as took huge strikes in attempt to put some distance between him and the idiot.

For half a second, he wished that the person trapped and abandoned with him was Syaoran, Sakura. Or even the stupid meat bun.

Anyone'll probably be better him.
