There was noise coming from outside.

Squeaking as he yawned and stretched, the young pup curled back into a ball around his much smaller littermates and twitching his still malleable horns. He was far from relaxed, but then he never was. He wasn't fi-gey-tee like Smallest, Twitchiest, or Loudest, though. Biggest didn't know what he felt, for he had yet to fully join the Collective to ask. Progenitor told him he wouldn't hear them until his horns were done growing.

Now wide awake, he glanced at Progenitor, humming for direction. She too had been listening for a moment or two, but then went back to her grooming. She didn't seem too concerned as she curled and rubbed her tail around her legs, but then she didn't seem to pay them much mind at all. Still, he kept an ear towards the noise just in case. He knew she treated her older litterpups differently, but then they looked different from most of Biggest's littergroup. While they were smaller than him, they bore a pointer resemblance to Progenitor.

Like Darkest.

He felt a Nudge against his horns, and trilled lowly to the second largest of their litter when he noticed he was awake. Darkest's attention, however, was on the tarp that covered their hole from the rest of the flight. Darkest didn't hide his interest in the noise outside, and flexed his small crest to try and pick up Murmurings. Because their crest and horns were bigger than the other threes', they sometimes heard or felt things from the collective. They were never whole, even in the rare times someone tried to Brush with them (only once for him), and they had to try very very hard. They were very sleepy afterwords, so they only tried if the other could keep watch.

The commotion soon quieted, and Darkest glanced at biggest as he continued to try to catch Murmurings. The effort made him very sleepy after, but he had lasted longer than last time at least. That would make him happy. Once he was sure Darkest was asleep, he kept watch for a long time afterwords. Even Biggest however, had to sleep.
