True to his word, Kadence visited Mewtwo once more in the morning, arriving as early as nurse joy would allow. The cat Pokemon smiled as he entered the room.
"Early riser?"
He asked, his tone teasing. Kadence smiled, but then yawned.
"You get up early every day, no complaining"
He responded easily, and Mewtwo grinned. As Kadence made his way to the chair by Mewtwo, he noticed the clones unease.
"Two? What's wrong?"
The clone hung his head, and answered in a soft whisper.
"I'm ruining it for you.. We are at another gym, the last badge you need...and I'm ruining it.."
Kadence shook his head and grabbed the hand-like paw of the big cat, and lifted it until the metal chain that hung on his wrist was visible. Lifting his sleeve, Kadence showed Mewtwo his identical one.
"We stick by one another, no matter what. You aren't ruining anything mewtwo, honest. If anything your helping teach me patience! Don't be upset, really.."
Again, Mewtwo lowered his gaze and sighed, before sitting up and swinging his legs over the side of the bed.
"What are you doing? Did nurse joy say you could get up?"
Kadence asked hurriedly, standing in his partners way incase he was going to do something stupid. Mewtwo sighed.
"No, but I'm tired of being helped to the restroom by a female."
He Replied, a blush forming under his off-white fur. Kadence nodded and ducked under mewtwos arm, supporting half the big pokemon's weight as he limped into the doorway. Leaning heavily on the frame, Mewtwo stopped, blinking a few times as if to focus his eyes.
"You okay buddy?"
Kadence asked, taking in the pokemon's unusual stature. Mewtwo nodded, but then his hand flew to his mouth and he lunged foreword to the toilet just In time empty his stomach noisily. Grimacing, Kadence rubbed the pokemon's back until he was finished.
"Sorry"
Mewtwo gasped out, and kaden shook his head.
"Don't be, it's okay."
Helping the big pokemon to his feet, Kadence made sure mewtwo had a good grip on the counter before turning his back to allow the cat to relieve himself.
Nurse joy came in a few moments after Kadence had gotten mewtwo back in bed, and though it was obvious something had happened due to how deeply mewtwo was breathing, she ignored it. After a series of routine check ups through out the body of the clone, she made a satisfied noise and jotted something down on her notepad.
"Well...within the next few days...it looks like mewtwo should be well enough to leave.."
She said slowly, glancing up from her notes every few words. Kadence and mewtwo both shared satisfied looks before straightening up.
"However no battling until the stitches in his side come out, and that wrist heals fully. It could pop out of place again."
Kadence nodded, but mewtwo looked upset. Before either could do something he'd regret, nurse joy walked up and smacked mewtwo in the back of the head. Shocked, both boys turned to the nurse.
"That's for getting out of bed."
She said haughtily, then turned heel and walked out of the room. Kadence chuckled, but mewtwo blushed furiously.
True to her word, after a mere three days mewtwo was allowed to leave. As he and his partner walked down the dirt path, mewtwo grunted in annoyance.
"What?"
Kadence asked, and mewtwo looked down at him with an annoyed look.
"The odd discoloration of my tail keeps distracting me. Every time it comes even partially into my view, I instinctively look over!"
He explained even as his ruby eyes darted to the side. Kadence sighed, but nodded.
"Well, we could try the dye back at the shop, but because your fur is so thin I'm not sure it would work.."
Kadence replied easily, and the big feline sighed again as his eyes darted over to his tail. Kadence looked his partner up and down, before shaking his head.
"What?"
Mewtwo asked, suspicious of how Kadence seemed to be...calculating.
"Oh nothing.."
The trainer replied, looking at the pond next to them, before spinning around and shoving the big pokemon into the knee deep water. Caught by surprise, mewtwo let out a yelp before. He was plunged into the ice-cold pond. Grinning nastily, mewtwo slowly raised his ruby eyes to meet Kadence's brown ones. Kadence shuddered, but was soon doused in the same frozen water as mewtwo pushed him in using telekinesis.
Kadence laughed alongside his partner, and soon both trainer and pokemon where back on the shore.
"So, what is the plan?"
Mewtwo asked casually, and Kadence shrugged.
"I dunno. Your my only pokemon, so I guess I'll have to get a few more and train em up."
Mewtwo frowned. He had always preferred being the only one in the party, as it allowed Kadence to give him attention when needed, and that attention was not divided among four or five pokemon. Seeing his displeasure, Kadence sighed.
"Sorry bud. Wishful thinking."
Mewtwo shook his head, feeling guilty.
"No...you should be able to capture others. I feel bad making you have only me as company, seeing as I am horrid when it comes to holding a pleasant conversation."
Mewtwo said, and Kadence shook his head, leaning against the big cat.
"Hardly. Your perfect company, seeing as your one of few pokemon who can speak and understand english. Besides, now that I've been traveling with you, how am I supposed to give attention to a pokemon not even half as powerful?"
Kadence joked, though mewtwo remained somber.
"Aw comon buddy, you know I'm kidding right?"
Mewtwo didint reply, instead choosing to stare out over the pond to the setting sun, which lit the world up in shades of pink and yellow.
"Two?..."
Mewtwo sighed, his ruby eyes coming down to meet Kadence's gaze.
"I'm sorry. I just don't feel myself as of late.."
Kadence nodded, and felt himself slipping from consciousness as sleep threatened to hold him. As he finally lost the battle, mewtwo sighed deeply, looking over the clear blue water. Deep into the darkness, a set of crimson eyes watched from the shadows...
