Ryder's POV:

A two years passed and Mayor Goodway was re-elected and I hired new pup. A Golden Retriever mix named Ember, our new fire pup. Katie found Ember in the remains of a burned down lab just outside Adventure Bay with a brown burnt mark on her right shoulder from the embers. That's where she got her name.

I still haven't found a replacement for Skye since there are no pups that isn't afraid of height but no matter what, no one can take Skye's and Marshall's place in our hearts.

Ever since the incident, crimes began to shrink. Means we don't get called for missions that much anymore. Which also means, we are close to being broke because our missions pay for everything. From vehicles to Lookout bills.

Once again we were called to find Chickletta because she is lost, again. I assigned Ember and Chase for the job but by the time we got to city hall, Chickiletta was in the Mayor's arms. "What on earth?" I questioned getting off my ATV taking off my helmet.

Ember and Chase followed behind me and was just as confused. Ember's truck kept swerving across the pavement. "Easy there Em." Chase reassured the goldy before parking their's near mine. She just got recruited so she's still getting the hold of Marshall's firetruck. "I thought Mayor Goodway said.."

"Yes I did Chase," Goodway interuppted the shepherd. "but while I was waiting for you three to arrive, these two nice children found her stuck in a tree. Unfortunately the nice boy who got her down broke his arm and recently in the hospital."

"Is he okay?" Ember asked through her pup tag. You see, Ember was born mute or at least that's what Katie told me. It was hard to communicate with her, so Rocky and I made a mind reader so she can speak what she's thinking without moving her mouth. She refuses to keep the tight muzzle off her mouth preventing her to actually open her mouth (except she takes it off to eat) so I guess that's another reason.

The problem is that she is cursed to tell the truth. So she needs to be careful what's on her mind. The first time she put that thing on, she ended up starting a fight between ALL of the pups.

"He's fine. I rushed him to the nearest hospital as fast as I could. But here you go Ryder." She handed me hundred-fifty dollars out of her purse.

I sighed and pushed it away, "Thanks Mayor Goodway but we didn't save Chickiletta."

Goodway pushed the money back to my chest, "No I insist." I rolled my eyes and smiled. Goodway had already been kind enough but if she really insists, I reached out took the from her hands, stuffing it into my pocket. "Hey Ryder, I know you are low budget. Is there anything I can do to help?"

I shook my head, "No thanks Mayor. Helping you is enough." I turned around to the brown and gold furred pups. Both new and old, "Why don't you go ahead pups. Get some meatballs from Mr.Porter okay?"

Chase puffed out his chest proudly, "Aye aye Ryder sir!" He barked with a smile, "Chase is on the case! Come on Ember!" Chase leaped off his cruiser with the new pup not too far behind.

"Coming Chase! I'm fired up!" Her pup tag howled following Chase to Mr.Porter's restaurant. Leaving me and Mayor Goodway to talk.

A chuckle escaped my mouth as the pups ran away but my smile disappeared when I turned around. Behind me is two golden plaques underneath small life-sized statues. One has a silver and pink helicopter blades and the other, a red and yellow flame. Each with a engraved pup paw on it and beautiful clean words;

Marshall

Co-Founder, Hero, Co-Worker, Best Friend, Brother, Family, World's Greatest Firepup

"Ready for a ruff-ruff rescue!"

Skye

Hero, Co-worker, Best Friend, Family, Flying Ace

"This puppy's gotta fly!"

I bent down and placed a hand on Marshall's plaque. I breathed on the cold metal and rubbed it giving it a good old fashioned shine, "So much has changed already. A new pup, low budget and Everest is now under depression." I stared at the golden plaques in sadness, "I miss them."

The mayor placed a hand on my shoulder, "I'm sorry Ryder. Is there there anything I can do to help."

I placed my hand on her's and looked ip with a forced smile. "If you really want to sure, but I don't think there's anything you can do."

"What about school?" She asked. School? Nobody has mentioned that in a long time. "You're 14 years old. Shouldn't you be in school?"

I shrugged as I stood up on my two feet, "I graduated college when I was ten years old. That's why I could build the pups' gear and live by myself."

The mayor looked me in shock, "Impressive. Well, then since you are low on money I suggest working at a job."

"You sure?" She nodded. My scratched my chin as if I have a long beard underneath. "Well, we are low on money. Maybe I can start working. Any suggestions Mayor?"

She scratched her chin too, "Hmm. Shall I say at a school? I have a friend at a middle school not too far from Adventure Bay. And could use some secruity ever since the code red from last week."

I remember that clearly. Just outside of Adventure Bay is a middle school that is right next to a bank, which is known as a robbers paradise. "I could ask her to pull some strings to allow you to work there."

I smiled ear to ear, "Thank you Mayor Goodway. Is there anything I could do to repay your kindness?"

"No need Ryder. You and the Paw Patrol did everything for us. It's the least I could do. In return for everytime you save Chickiletta." Which was more times than I could count.

I smiled and wrapped the Mayor in a hug. "Thank you Mayor Goodway." I thanked receiving a returning hug from her.

Before she could speak no more, Chase and Ember returned with a bag of meatballs on her back. "We got them Ryder." Ember alerted before throwing them into her truck, jumping in afterwards.

Chase jumped into his cruiser and barked. "Ryder sir! Let's go!" I nodded and pushed away from the hug. My eyes looked up at Goodway's kind face.

"Thanks again Mayor Goodway." My legs carried me to my ATV as I put on my helmet. "Wait before I leave, may I say a piece of advice?" The mayor nodded, "You always said you wanted some company correct?"

She sighed, "Admittly yes. I love Chickiletta but it would be nice to have my own 'pups' running around." Emphasizing 'pups', I nodded understanding what she meant. For the past few week, (Goodway's Nephew and Niece) has been visiting her more often. Nore often than usual. So my guess is that what she mean is that she wants kids.

A chuckle escaped my mouth indicating to her that I know what she means, "Then my advice for you to go right ahead. That's what you want right?" She looked at me speechless. The exact answer wanted. I smiled one last time before driving away in my ATV.

Mayor's POV:

I waved Ryder goodbye as he drove away to the lookout, but his advice still lingers in my mind.

"...go right ahead. That's what you want right?"

"You know what Chickiletta! He's right! It is what I want! And I want children for you and I to enjoy." I told my favorite chicken in the world. She responded with a cute cluck causing me to laugh a little bit.

I opened my bag and took out my beautiful blue cased phone and called the hospital, "Hello? Is this Doctor Danvers correct?"

"Yes Mayor Goodway. How may I help you?" She asked calmly through the phone.

I took a deep breath hoping this is the right decision. "You know those kids I sent you? Tell them to wait outside the building. I have someone to pick them up."

And meeting my first Paw Patrol OC the new fire pup! Ember! A mute Golden Retriever.

I know it's sad that Marshall was replaced but I gotta tell you that he's not coming back. (Spoiler?)

Hope you like her though!
