Godslayer of Gen-Lock-2

"Hey man, quit hogging all the action."

Miranda looked over to where another of the tanks were, and saw a large mecha jumping out of a transport ship, and onto the mecha, not flattening it as much as Scythe had flattened his, but enough to where it couldn't walk properly, before the mecha tore the cannon off of the hull of the tank.

Once that was done, the mecha threw it away, as it slid right in front of Miranda, before it pulled a giant rifle off its back, and fired five rounds before the inside of the tank combusted.

"Show off." Scythe stated flying over him. "You always gotta show off don't you?"

"Me, the show off? You flattened that tank like it was a paper lantern." The mecha exclaimed pointing to the crushed tank, before they were under heavy fire again. "We'll settle this later, right now we gotta make sure the transport carrying the refugees gets away safely."

"Agreed." Scythe exclaimed as he flew down.

The Union operatives pointed their hack guns at Scythe and the Mecha, only for them both to say fail.

"Sorry, but there's nothing on either of us to hack." Scythe stated destroying the guns with a squeeze of his hands.

Meanwhile, Leon and Jodie were still fending off their tank.

"Can you at least kill it before it kills me?" Jodie questioned.

"I'm trying, but I can't get the angle." Leon stated.

"We've got movement behind us." Jodie exclaimed.

From out of the foliage, a second mecha yellow and white, came out and was running towards them. It leapt over the two Striders, sliding along the ground as it landed before it upturned the tank leaving its weak-spot open for attack.

"What are you waiting for?" A woman's voice shouted over the com-links.

Leon took aim for the tank, and prepared to take the shot.

"Firing." Leon shouted as he fired.

The yellow a white mecha jumped out of the way, allowing for the missiles to hit the tank's underbelly, thus halting the advances of the Union on capturing the refugees. A large spear of metal pierced through the yellow and white mecha's torso, but it didn't do any significant damage as the mecha just torn it out and tossed it away.

"What the hell?" Leon asked.

"Alright, refugees are on board, and we've got multiple new bogies on inbound. ETA two minutes, it's now or never folks." The captain of the refugee ship exclaimed.

"Perfect, this just got a whole lot more fun." Scythe smiled under his mask.

"Scythe, no, we go now. The mission is done." The white and yellow mecha stated.

"I have a score to settle with those jerks." Scythe shouted.

"You'll get your chance, but if they send drones after us, we have no way to defend ourselves unless you come along. You are out only chance at surviving an air strike from Union." The blue and white mecha stated.

"Fine." Scythe groaned, knowing they were right. "But I want a twelve pack of Dr. Pepper when we get back to the base."

"Fair enough." The yellow and white mecha said with a chuckle, knowing how much he loved that soda.

~Back at the Anvil~

Miranda, Jodie, and Leon marched into the debriefing room, it had been a couple hours flying back to the Anvil, and they had questions on their mind about where those mecha' came from. The three marched up to the group of four at the front of the debriefing room.

"Who were in those mechs and who was that in the armor with the dragon wings?" Miranda questioned.

"Lieutenant if you would please…"

"No way those, were drones. What were those?" Leon asked.

"Who was that?" Miranda questioned.

"The Union ambush has certainly made this more awkward than it needed to be." Raquel exclaimed. "But I think now would be a good time to welcome to the Vanguard, the experimental science unit. They'll be staying with us for a little while, so everyone be nice, and take a deep breath. This is going to take some explaining."

Raquel stepped back from the podium and turned to her right, as a holographic image began to make itself known, taking on the familiar form, and looks of someone thought long dead four years ago.

"Hey gang." Chase smiled. "What'd I miss? Y'all look like you've seen a ghost."

"Really?" Raquel questioned, asking him why he had made that joke.

"I was trying to lighten the mood." Chase exclaimed.

"Doctor, if you'd please."

"Certainly but it seems we're missing someone still." Weller exclaimed.

"Sorry, sorry I'm late. I had to use the can."

The door to the side opened, and in walked Scythe wearing a silver and black version of the armor Chase was wearing, and a twelve pack of soda in his hand. Scythe had changed in the last four years, he had gotten tall, buffer, and more toned than he originally was, as well as standing at a full 6-nearly-7-feet in height.

"Heya everyone." Scythe smiled. "Did I miss the ghost joke already?"

"Yep." Chase stated.

"Damn it I wanted to be here for that." Scythe sighed. "Well, some of you might not recognize me, in fact I doubt even half of you know who I am. My name is…"

"Scythe." Miguel exclaimed in shock.

"That's right. Glad to see you're not dead amigo." Scythe smiled tossing him a can of soda.

"Alright, now we're all glad they're still alive, but now I have some explaining to do." Weller stated. "Now some of you may recognize me, I'm Dr. Weller of the Polities Experimental Science Unit, the E.S.U, and what we're about to discuss is um… ah… what phrase do you use here, eyes only, top secret."

"What he's about to tell all of you involving Chase and myself is extremely classified, so we are entrusting you to keep you yaps shut about it." Scythe exclaimed.

"Breathe a word of this and I will kill you myself." Raquel stated.

"Yikes, still as hostile as I remember her." Scythe whispered to chase.

"Well, I was going to talk about what the Union would do to you, but clearly your Colonel is the bigger threat. Holding for laugh. No? No, well moving on."

"Chase, is that you?" Miguel asked.

"Yeah man, it's really me, I'm alive-ish." Chase stated.

"Spoilers, uh skip-skip, I prepared an entire speech pulling out of that, oh skipping, fine, may as well cut to the… right." Weller said, realizing the irony/stupidity of what he was about to say. "Ah yes, this really is… Chase. His MR. Overlay to be clear, but yes. We recovered both Scythe and him from the crash, he's alive, and nearby."

"How's that possible?" Leon asked.

"We saw the crash." Another shouted.

"Yeah, you sure you're both not dead?" Miguel questioned.

"Want a game later, Siege?" Chase questioned.

"I'm down for it." Scythe smiled opening a can of Dr. Pepper.

"It's them." Miguel smiled.

"Focus please."

"How…" Miranda began. "How are you here?"

"Chase, is the first, in a very special, R-n-D Program." Weller stated. "Shortly before the war began, we had an extraordinary breakthrough at the E.S.U; Chase had been identified as one of the few compatible candidates in the entire world. Less than one in a million really. So we kept an eye on him, when the incident in New York occurred, we rushed to his aid, and have since made every effort, to help his recovery. In return, he agreed to help us, with our secret, little, experiment."

"Okay, this was already going to be awkward, but come on. Doesn't anyone wanna know why, what we've been up to?"

"The new mechs we just saw." Leon inquired.

"The new mechs you just saw, yes. We call them, Holons." Weller exclaimed.

"So they're not drones, and they're not RC?" Jodie questioned.

"No."

"But there's no place for a cockpit." Leon exclaimed. "No pilot, and if Chase is still in recovery and Scythe was actually on the battle field…"

"Oh, there's a pilot. If you want to be precise, there are no human bodies on board the Holons no, but they are piloted, by a decanted human mind." Weller explained.

"What?" Miguel questioned.

"We are at the dawn of a new age. One where it is possible to digitize the human mind, grab it, and send it across a brain computer interface, so it can run on an electronic mainframe, or mind-frame if you will." Weller stated. "Maybe E-Brain. Well yeah alright, I'm still working on it, but it's certainly better than, Cyber Dome."

"I'm telling you it's gonna catch on." Chase smiled.

"I like it." Scythe smiled.

"Chase here, is the world's first human, to successfully achieve what we refer to as, Gen-Lock. Phase:1 anyhow. Which in this case means he uploaded his mind to the cybernetic brain inside his Holon, allowing him to operate the mech, much as though it was his own body." Weller exclaimed. "Ms. Madrani here represents the, second such success. It was she, who inhabited the other Holon that aided you earlier. It's obviously, a lot to digest, we should leave it here for now."

"The E.S.U, will be staying with us, while they identify additional recruits, for the Gen-Lock project. Mostly green horns who will need to be taught proper tactics. That's where we come in. The Gen-Lock team will imbed with us, as we conduct joint team exercises. Possibly some field operations, depending on how it all goes. Treat them as you would any other fellow unit. Dismissed." Raquel explained.

"Hold on." Miranda exclaimed. "What about Scythe, why is he here, and how is he able to do everything we saw him do four years ago, and today?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Chase chuckled.

"But as the Doc said, you've all got enough information to digest for right now, so that's gonna have to wait until later. As for why I'm here, the E.S.U owed me one, so they got me in as a special operative for the Vanguard. Stationed here at the Anvil, to be a soldier, and support for the cadets for the Gen-Lock program." Scythe explained heading for the door. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm out."

"Any further questions will have to be given tomorrow after the debriefing. Again, dismissed." Raquel stated.

~Later in the lab~

"Man, it has been a day." Scythe groaned, sitting on a crate in the Gen-Lock lab, drinking a Dr. Pepper. Looking up to see the android, Caliban, was standing beside him, holding a tray of supplies he knew he wouldn't like. "Fine, I guess it is time for my daily treatment."

Scythe grumbled as he removed his suit, grateful Chase wasn't able to see him this time, for two reasons, he was still running through the base as a hologram, and his tank was behind several crates.

"Dude."

Scythe turned around and saw Miguel standing beside Yasamin, who was looking away, as she knew he didn't like it when anybody saw his body in the state it was in. Miguel's eyes were wide with shock, and horror.

"What the hell happened to you?" Miguel questioned.

Scythe stood there, in a pair of underwear, revealing the rest of his body, or what remained of it at least. Scythe stood there, revealing his left arm, from the bicep, down was made completely out of metal, as his right arm was missing completely from the shoulder, while both his legs, were the same way, his right one being met with skin at the upper thigh, while his left leg was missing completely at the waist, all while his back, from the shoulders, to his waist, was made of black metal, shining a dark obsidian hue.

"Treatment will have to wait." Scythe told the robot as he put his suit back on, rushing out of the lab.

"Hey man wait." Miguel began.

"Let him be." Yasamin exclaimed. "He needs to calm down. He doesn't like when people besides Dr. Weller and the robot, sees his body the way it is. C'mon, Chase's tank is over here."

Miguel followed Yasamin to Chase's tank, confused on how to feel, with what he saw. On one hand, he was happy to have two of his friends back, on the other, he was conflicted on if he should be happy or not, and just feel sympathy for the state he saw them both in.

"Hey, Chase?" Miguel asked.

Chase's entire lower body was gone, as well as his right arm was missing from the bicep, with his left arm still intact. Chase had wires and tubes connected to him all over, as they were keeping him alive within the gestation tank. His chest and shoulders, were covered in a life sustaining metal suit, which most likely covered his back as well.

"He's probably still mixed into the briefing room." Yasamin exclaimed. "He should return shortly."

"Can I…?" Miguel asked, referring to stepping closer to the tank. Yasamin acknowledged it was alright, and he went closer, examining Chase, and looking at the monitors with his vitals and data. "Well, you're always going to win the best scar competitions that's for sure."

"Thanks amigo." Chase said from inside his tank, surprising Miguel. "Not sure I wanted the honor though."

"Sup Chase? You're looking… good." Miguel stated. "You uh, lost weight."

"Ha-ha-ha. Sup Migas?" Chase said, putting his fist against the tank, as Miguel did the same for a fist bump.

"He calls you eggs?" Yasamin questioned.

"Crumbs." Miguel clarified.

"It was supposed to be huevos, we should tell her the story." Chase exclaimed.

"C'mon man, I just met her." Miguel stated. "You know, he wasn't all there, before he wasn't, all there." He exclaimed pointing to his head, before pointing to the tank.

"Eh." Chase stated, in a warning tone.

"I have suspected." Yasamin said.

"So, I'm just gonna ask, no region? I mean I know this would be a lot but there have been cases that…"

"Union Nano-Tech." Dr. Weller stated walking in. "Nasty stuff, on the other hand, if it hadn't infected him, he wouldn't have lasted long enough for us to find him, but no, for all the E.S.U's new techniques, it's too much. I do not know, if or when, Chase will be able to leave the tank, physically anyhow."

"Whenever you're all done with the mellow drama, just let me know." Chase stated.

"Yeah in a minute. So you looked for him, helped him, above all others." Miguel clarified. "Why?"

"Gen-Lock is being pressed into service so early, the process is in such a naciente raw state, it requires a very unique nervous system. A tremendous amount of neuroplasticity, in order to work. But to be Gen-Lock compatible, and already have a stellar carrier in combat aviation, hmm? That makes chase one of the most important pilots in history."

"MmHmm." Yasamin cleared her throat.

"One, I said one, didn't I?" Weller asked looking at her. "This isn't your moment."

"Wait, when was this compatibility check?" Miguel questioned.

"Sorry, that's confidential." Weller stated. "No, I'm joking. You were tested ages, ago, all of you, really. A-anyone who worked for the Polity. Oh, come now, you don't think your health is the only thing being screened at your health screenings do you? The things they inject you with and all the extra data they collect, that…" Weller stopped seeing the look of shock on Miguel's face. "That you are presumably welcome to inquire about, to your, err, medical officer, moving on. Chase passed the Weller Test."

"And yes, he named it after himself." Chase exclaimed.

"When you invent technology that changes the course of human history, you're welcome to name your procedures however you like." Weller stated. "Ah, reminds me. Some light reading." Weller exclaimed sending several documents to Miguel.

"What's this?" Miguel asked.

"The colonel didn't tell you? During our stay, you're pulling second shift as head of Holon Maintenance, well, second to Scythe that is, but he mainly tries to upgrade them to impossible levels. Still does good work for a nineteen year old."

"Nineteen? But he was fourteen when we all thought he died." Miguel stated.

"Ah yes, well turns out the day the war began was his birthday. So he turned fifteen then." Weller stated. "Now, you've got a thousand or three systems you need to start memorizing. Then we can move on to the outer armor. You still here? You need to get cracking, chop-chop."

"Just one more question." Miguel stated. "What happened to Scythe? What happened to his body?"

"Ah, you saw that did you? Well, to put it simply, Scythe had lost his limbs and all the flesh on his back, during the crash, I mean you could see everything through his back, his organs, his lungs, his skeleton, everything. He got lucky compared to Chase, if you ask me. Anyways, his abilities had kicked in and had merged with the Nano-Tech that had infected him, turning the metal his body produced into living organic metal, connecting the severed nerves to his limbs and tissue, thus fully replacing his sense of touch and feel that he lost with his missing arms, legs, and back. They even grow with him just like his original limbs would have."

"Wait, wait, wait, he produced metal, from his body? How is that possible?" Miguel questioned.

"Well, you'll have to ask him that, now won't you?" Weller stated. "Okay, now off you go, to your barracks. Say Yasamin, do you know if Scythe has gotten his daily treatment yet?"

"He and Caliban were just starting when we walked in, he stormed out when he noticed us." Yasamin stated.

"Oh dear. That's not good on a day like today. It's the one day of the month that he absolutely needs the treatment on time." Weller stated. "Go to his assigned barracks, bring Caliban with you. If it's not too late we can save him from a sleepless night of pain."

"What's going on?"

"Every day, Scythe has to go through a special treatment for his injuries, specifically the phantom pains he feels, but usually around the middle of the month, around the time of the full moon, there's one treatment he has to have on time, or he's going to be in hours and hours of pain. Today is the day he has to have that treatment." Chase explained.

"And I delayed it by walking in on him." Miguel groaned.

"Hey, it's not your fault, now go get some sleep, you've got a busy day starting tomorrow." Chase smiled in sympathy.

"Alright, I'll see you later pal." Miguel sighed heading off.

~The Gen-Lock Holon Pilot Barracks~

"Damn, I should have just let Caliban do the treatment." Scythe groaned, tossing and turning in the bed, feeling the pain running through him.

Scythe was tossing and turning holding himself in the fetal position as he became too engrossed in pain to even properly speak, the only thing coming out of his mouth were pained screams and grunts. Scythe turned over in pain, but fell off the top bunk, as he was unaware he was at the edge.

"AAAHHHHH." Scythe screamed in pain, as the pressure from the impact made him feel worse.

"Scythe, hold on." Yasamin exclaimed rushing in with Caliban as he held the medical tools for his treatment. "Caliban sedate him." Yasamin stated as a crowd of soldiers began to form outside the open door.

Caliban took the sedative filled needle, and injected Scythe with it, causing him to sleep moments later as it was an extremely strong sedative. Strong enough to knock out a rhinoceros.

"What is going on in here?" Raquel questioned stepping into the room.

"Scythe missed today's treatment, he's in an extreme amount of pain, so we had to sedate him in order to do the treatment." Yasamin said as she removed Scythe's suit from his body. "Caliban, begin treatment and be sure to get it done before the sedative wears off."

The android nodded and began by taking out a small brush and opening a jar of clear goo, before using the brush to spread the goo along the seams of where the flesh a bio-metal met.

"What exactly is that stuff going to do to stop his pain?" Raquel questioned.

"It's a bio synthesizer. Scythe's body is still adjusting to the limbs and inorganic-flesh it produced on its own, despite having been four years. What this stuff does, is it helps to accelerate his body's acceptance and adjustment to the new limbs, it's a daily treatment. Otherwise he'll be in slight discomfort, and won't be able to fully put his mind in the battle, as he tries to ignore it."

"Those screams of his told me that this was more than just a case of discomfort." Raquel stated.

"Indeed they were screams of actual pain. Once a month, the energy of Scythe's abilities surges through his body, but can't be fully put through his limbs just yet, so the energy causes him pain far beyond what he should be able to handle. Today was the day for that particular treatment, as it requires a special bio-synthesizer for nullifying the pain, and he missed it because Miguel and I walked in on him when he removed his suit for the treatment." Yasamin explained.

"What exactly are his abilities?" Raquel questioned.

"I thought you were there when he explained it to the E.S.U what he was capable of before the crash he was in with Chase?"

"I was not."

"Well, it's not my place to say what his abilities are. Those are for him to disclose and him only." Yasamin exclaimed.

"Fine. Have him come by my office tomorrow morning to explain to me what his abilities are, otherwise he's no longer welcome here." Raquel stated. "He will be forcefully removed from the base if need be."

"Good luck with that. An entire army of Union soldiers, tanks, and drones, have gone toe-to-toe with him on his own, and he came out on top, albeit with quite a few additions of scars and injuries on what remains of his flesh. But still, he took them out as if it were just another Monday morning for him." Yasamin chuckled, with a small smile. "Even if you could get him off base by force, you'd be throwing out one of our best chances of driving the Union back for good."

"Wait, you mean to tell me, that he was the one who took out that Union base we found filled with nothing but dead soldiers, and destroyed tanks and drones three years ago?" Raquel asked.

"He was indeed. The E.S.U wanted to see what his limits were, and he well surpassed their expectations farther than any normal human being is capable of without a Holon." Yasamin exclaimed.

"Fine, but if he doesn't explain to me what his abilities are first thing in my office tomorrow morning, he will be provided limited rations until he agrees to tell." Raquel stated.

"Won't work, I can tell you right now, he's able to hunt for his own food, even in environments like the canyon the Anvil is located in." Yasamin smiled, much to Raquel's displeasure. "Anything you do to try and get him to talk, he can counteract. He'll talk when he's ready to talk. It takes time for someone to gain his respect and trust. Dr. Weller and I earned it when we helped nurse him back from near death."

"Fine. If he'll talk only after I have gained his trust, then I will do what I can to gain his trust so he can tell me what his abilities are." Raquel stated before leaving.

~The next morning on an airship~

The sky was cloudy, with a blanket of fog covering the area, making it a bit of a challenge to fly through, as a transport ship was making its way through the air, carrying several passengers on it. But the fog wasn't too thick, as the think the pilot would have to look out for most was a bird or two.

"Research assemble on Anvil approach, pad is 3-5-left, clear to land." The air trafficker at the Anvil base said over the radio.

"Now that's a big fuckin cairn." A blonde girl, with a Scottish accent exclaimed looking out the window of the ship.

This is Cameron McCloud. Her attire consisted of a long-sleeved hooded top in shades of green, black and white, accented by pink details. Cammie is also often seen wearing a pair of black goggles when working on projects. Her hair is held up in a ponytail by a device that resembles both a mechanical set of rabbit ears and a hair bow. Breast Size: G-Cup.

"I thought a cairn was a tomb?" A blonde man flipping a coin in between his fingers questioned.

This is Rob Sinclair.

He wore a dark navy blue camouflage suite underneath a grey vest, with standard military issued boots, and a regulation length hair cut on the top center of his head, while the sides were buzz cut down to his skin, leaving him with a Mohawk surrounded by Five-O-clock shadow on his head.

"It's a pile of rocks." Cameron stated.

"That usually serves as a monument of tomb?" Rob asked.

"Well it's not like they have been winning the war lately have they?"

"That's because we haven't started yet." Rob smiled.

"You want to get on the front lines?" A woman with a Russian accent inquired.

She has pale green eyes, black hair that is dyed purple and styled in dreadlocks and commonly wears black lipstick. She also possess a narrow jawline, high cheekbones and wear purple nail polish at all times. There is also a purple facial tattoo in a spiral design on the left side of her face.

She wears a black trench coat, combat boots, an amethyst crop top and black gloves, all accented with purple as her casual attire. This is Valentina Romanyszyn. Breast Size: B-Cup.

"A ranger pretty much lives on the front lines. What about you?" Rob questioned pointing to her.

"I like fights I can win." Valentina stated.

"If you don't think you can win, why are you here?"

"That's one of life's great mysteries isn't it?" Cameron asked.

"Doesn't matter where anyone goes now. They're coming for you." Valentina exclaimed, sounding dark and cryptic, all while the fourth and final passenger aboard the airship was snoring away as he began falling to the side, before he woke up do to the sensation of falling.

"'Scuse me, we there yet?" The man asked, speaking in Japanese, while the computers in their heads, translated his words for the others, holding firm to his guitar case.

He is a very tall, broad-shouldered and muscular man of Japanese descent, who has almost shoulder-length black hair held back in a topknot by a red band, hollowed cheeks and slight stubble surrounding a rough goatee.

He wears a leather kutte and various logos and designs on it, with red detailing on the back, lower chest and obliques. He wears black finger-less gloves, a large black belt, charcoal cargo pants and a black t-shirt. His only jewelry is a pair of black plugs in each of his earlobes.

This is Kazu Iida.

"We're somewhere alright." Camron exclaimed causing them all to look in the direction she was looking in.

They all stared wide eyed at the marvel of the Anvil base as they came in for a landing. Upon getting off the airship, the four of them were greeted by Chase, his MR form to be precise, Dr. Weller, Caliban, Yasamin, an Anvil security officer, and Scythe as he was drinking from a flask.

"Don't you think you're a little young to be starting you drinking life?" Chase asked him as the cadets came towards them.

"If you're old enough to kill, you're old enough to drink." Scythe exclaimed.

"You take those Marvel X-Men Comics, way too seriously." Chase sighed.

"Ms. McCloud, Iida-san, Ms. Roma-Romanys-Romanysrrg-ghana Valentina, Specialist Sinclair." Dr. Weller greeted them all, butchering Valentina's name a few times before saying her first name. "Welcome to the Anvil, so good to finally meet you all in person." Weller smiled as the officer began taking their pictures one by one.

"That's a hell of a way to say hello." Cameron said blinking the spots out of her eyes.

"That's nothing, wait until you see what he does to you next." Chase said.

"I was joking?" Cameron stated.

"He wasn't." Yasamin exclaimed. "Scythe, why don't you stick with her? You could spend some time with someone more in your age group."

"Me, why do I have to, I'm already behind on my morning run." Scythe exclaimed.

"You'll be changing up your workout regimen as of today Scythe." Dr. Weller said. "For now, you will be waiting in the barracks with the rest of these cadets."

"Fine. But I expect another case of Dr. Pepper, I'm already empty from the one I was given yesterday." Scythe sighed walking back into the base. "I'll be in the barracks waiting for them if you need me."

"Where the hell does he put all that Dr. Pepper?" Yasamin questioned.

"Better question is, how can he drink a twelve pack a day, and not get fat?" Chase questioned.

"I heard that." Scythe shouted.

"Alright, back on track." Dr. Weller exclaimed.

"Caliban will stow your gear in the hanger." Yasamin stated as the android took their things.

"Hey, careful." Kazu exclaimed.

"The hanger? Don't we get bunks?" Sinclair questioned.

"Not if you're not staying." Yasamin explained.

"Okay, everyone who cannae kin what's up with the mad scientist here, say aye." Cameron exclaimed raising her hand.

"Aye." Kazu stated raising his hand.

"Da." Valentina said raising her hand.

"Yes, uh aye." Sinclair said as they all looked at him, as he raised his hand.

"I do get ahead of myself, apologies. On behalf of the E.S.U, thank you for all your time thus far, testing for our program, but you're not done. Not quite yet." Dr. Weller exclaimed.

"But we passed." Sinclair stated.

"You advanced to the finals, but, there are some things we can only know, if we deal with each other, eye to eye. If it doesn't work out, you'll be on your way home on the next transport." Dr. Weller explained.

"Huh, home says he." Cameron scoffed.

"To be here, some of us were sent halfway 'round the world." Kazu stated.

"And we just got off the plane, mind if we, refresh first?" Valentina questioned.

"Each minute we waste here, is another minute before you meet your future." Dr. Weller exclaimed walking back to the hanger bay. "Go suit up, and I'll collect you shortly."

"Did he say suit up?" Cameron questioned.

"He's like a kid on Christmas morning." Sinclair stated.

"Which makes us what, his new puppies?" Valentine inquired.

"You're the new lab rats, come on." Yasamin stated as Chase materialized behind them all.

"It's cool. Once you get to know her she's… ah she's pretty much the same." Chase stated.

"What about that big musclebound hot head?" Cameron questioned.

"Who, Scythe?"

"Yeah him. What's his deal?" Sinclair questioned. "Is he so high and mighty he looks down on us like he considers himself to be a God?"

"He's just not great with meeting new people. He has trust issues, stemming from his childhood." Chase exclaimed materializing in front of them to stop them. "Okay look, I know I shouldn't be telling you any of this, but it might help you understand why he has these trust issues. When Scythe was five years old, his home was burned down and his parents were murdered, right in front of him."

They all looked shocked before Cameron spotted Scythe doing some requested assistance on upgrading some of the gyros in the legs of one of the Holons.

"It wasn't long after that he was turned into a lab-rat, for illegal human experimentation at the molecular level. The worst part of it all though, is the man who murdered his parents, was a red herring. He injured himself and Scythe was the one who found him, and told his dad, who brought that man into their home to help treat his wounds and injuries. So you can see why he doesn't have a lot of trust in new people right off the back." Chase explained following Cameron's gaze to where Scythe was. "Believe it or not, the kid's only a year older than you Ms. McCloud."

"He's nineteen?" Valentina questioned. "So young to be such a seasoned fighter, I'd hate to imagine the amount of physical, emotional, and psychological scars he has to carry."

"He truly has the honor of a noble warrior." Kazu stated.

"Now I feel like a total jerk for judging him like that." Sinclair stated.

"I feel worse for thinking he saw us like we were nothing but insects." Cameron exclaimed.

"Hey, it's fine, but to be honest with you. Scythe might look like a giant of a man, but deep down, he's a soft kitten, who turns into a tiger when threatened or angered." Chase smiled motioning for them to watch him closely. "Okay now look, the suspensions on that leg need a new seventeen by ten inch spring, and there are none currently in stock in the back, so what's he gonna do?"

"Give up and order a new one?" Cameron questioned.

"Nope, just watch. You'll get a demonstration of his strength." Chase smiled before he saw Scythe reach down and pull out a new spring from the cart. "Or not, seems he grabbed the last one from the back. Oh well, you'll get to see what he's really made of later then. C'mon." Chase stated leading them through the docking bay.

"Whoa. Wait, what are those?" Cameron questioned, noticing the rest of the structure of the Holon Scythe was helping to maintain, plus the rest of them, all in their respective colors.

"I'll catch up with y'all." Chase said disappearing.

Cameron stopped, between two crates to get a better look, before Valentina grabbed her by the hood.

"C'mon." Valentina stated.

~In the locker room several minutes later~

"I can't say I've worn a uniform like this." Valentina stated.

"I'm not sure I can fit…" Kazu stated pulling on his boot.

"Cool, what even is this material, and it's got what, what are these optical fiber circuits, and they all lead by up to…"

"Please just suit up. We will explain as we go." Yasamin stated leading them through the locker room, after exiting the women's change room.

"I like it." Sinclair smiled.

~Raquel's office~

Colonel Raquel was sitting at her desk going over mission reports, and briefings, while also trying to figure out a fast and easy way to earn Scythe's trust when she got a call from one of her sentry's.

"Ma'am, we have a possible intruder situation." The Sentry stated before bringing up a file.

"Isolate them, now." Raquel stated. "Do it quietly."

~Anvil Common Room~

"So, if things don't work out, we at least get to keep the suits? You know a souvenir?" Cameron questioned as her constant yapping has been driving Yasamin up a wall.

"I'm still not entirely sure of their function." Kazu exclaimed.

"They are prototype body armors the E.S.U has been developing for the Vanguard, but let's wait for the Doctor to explain." Yasamin stated as Scythe came from the snack counter with a drink in hand, before they both noticed three Vanguard soldiers walking in armed and ready for a fight.

"Freeze, hands in the air." One of the shouted aiming their weapons at the group.

"Did we fail already?" Cameron asked.

"What is happening?" Kazu questioned.

"Did you think we weren't going to catch a Union spy in our own base?" The lead soldier asked.

"Yes, I was from the Union, but, if you'd please call the Dr. Weller, he can explain." Yasamin said, raising her gun in a nonthreatening way.

"Not you Yasamin." Scythe stated before kicking Sinclair in the chest knocking him into the computerized screen, creating several cracks in it, while also imbedding him in the wall. "Him."

"Oh, that was a good kick." Sinclair stated pulling himself out with a grunt. "How did you know I wasn't the real Sinclair?"

"I've met the real Sinclair, he and I are actually drinking buddies. I'd grab a beer with him every time I snuck out of the E.S.U base. Now you have an uncanny resemblance to him, you even fooled me when I first saw you. But there's one thing you didn't take into account." Scythe stated as the spy's coin landed in the palm of his hand, turning into Nanites, before going down the collar of his suit, and merging with the bio-metal underneath. "Your Nano-Tech and scent gave you away."

"Scent?" Valentina questioned. "He couldn't be…"

"I see now." Sinclair groaned, pulling a spare coin from his pocket. "So you're the one who's been a major pain in Unions ass, the past three years, bigger than Anvil or and resistance forces we've encountered."

"So, you know my name." Scythe smiled as three blades came out from between his knuckles on each hand, all six of them polished obsidian black.

"The man who can mimic the Marvel Anti-Hero, in both his weapons, and healing abilities, and of course let's not forget your animalistic tracking skills. Thus earning you the title known as, the Wolverine. You can even shut down and absorb our Nano-Tech on a whim, which is how you can heal from any injury." Fake-Sinclair stated as his second coin turned into Nanites. "They just rebuild your body from the reprograming you give them after shutting them down. But these Nanites, are different, they won't listen to your commands, they will only follow my orders, as they are linked to my brainwaves, and will only respond to those as long as I'm alive."

"Then I guess we're just gonna have to do this the hard way." Scythe exclaimed taking on a feral stance.

"If you ask me, Scythe reads way too many comic books and Manga." Yasamin stated before firing at Fake-Sinclair, as he began to run, hitting him in the side, before Sinclair sent the Nano-Tech to the guards, killing them one by one, while Kazu, Valentina, and Cameron hid for safety.

Turning around the corner of his cover, Fake-Sinclair ordered the Nano-Tech to open the locked doors, by hacking the mainframe. Once the Nano-Tech began, Fake-Sinclair jumped out of his hiding spot and knocked out a Vanguard agent, slamming using him as a human shield, and using his weapon twice before it was out of ammo. Once the gun was empty, Fake-Sinclair tossed aside his meat-shield, and ran for the doors. Kazu, Valentina, Cameron, and Scythe ran after him. Kazu's suit began to power up, and as he noticed this, he leapt after the spy, before he realized he went too far, and hit the wall. Fake-Sinclair stepped on Kazu's back, running out, before flinching as a knife hit the door. Fake-Sinclair turned to see Valentina throwing a second knife, only for it to miss as he ducked and ran down the hall.

"Cami, make yourself useful." Yasamin shouted as both she and Scythe ran after the spy, with Valentina hot on their tails.

Cameron looked at the door, and knew what Yasamin was telling her to do. She needed to hack the Nano-Tech hacking, and get security back online.

Meanwhile, Fake-Sinclair was running down the hall with his Nano-Tech beside him, before he ran into several more guards. Sending his Nanites to attack them, Fake-Sinclair commenced with fighting hand-to-hand combat with one of the guards currently there. He kneed one in the gut before throwing him over, commencing to attack another soldier while the Nano-Tech kept another busy.

Grabbing punching the guard in the stomach, Fake-Sinclair swerved up to where he was right behind him, and held him in a choke hold, before breaking the guard's neck. As soon as he dropped the body, another guard came from behind and grabbed him, before Fake-Sinclair used the support of the guard's body to run up the wall and flip over the soldier, landing on his feet and spin-kicking another guard who had been constantly firing at him.

Using his Nano-Tech, Fake-Sinclair killed the final soldier that was there, before he prepared for a fist fight, with Yasamin, as she made her presence known by kicking him in the back. Fake-Sinclair twisted himself around blocking a punch and sending his own into her stomach, before kicking her in the side, knocking her back.

Yasamin charged up and ran towards Fake-Sinclair, before she, jump-kicked him in the head, and socked him in the face, not letting up, as she then kicked him in the stomach knocking him back before he used both his hands to block her punch. Acting quickly, Yasamin delivered a barrage of punches to his gut, causing him to wince in pain and grab his stomach as he ducked under a punch Yasamin had aimed for his head.

Grabbing her throat after dodging that K.O punch, Fake-Sinclair slammed her against the doors to the elevator, before she kicked him in the back, forcing him to let go of her, as she continued her barrage of attacks, back handing him in the face, then kicking him in the chest and knocking him back a few feet, before he retaliated with his own strikes, to which Yasamin dodged and countered.

He lunged his left arm for her face, before she pivoted, and grabbed it, and kicked him square in the face, slammed the side of her fist into his gut, and side chopped his ribs, before kicking him in the neck and face dazing him a bit as he went off, before he turned back to her, with a murderous intent in his eyes.

Yasamin jumped at him, before back-kicking at him from the ground, forcing him to back off, using the momentum, to flip back onto her feet and strike with her fists, to which Fake-Sinclair countered, and redirected, before punching her in the face, the back of the head, and continued to assault her, with several more attacks, finishing it with a head-butt and jump-spin-kicking her in the face, and two punches to the face, sending her stumbling away from the elevator, before he jumped over and off the wall, slamming his fist into her, and knocking her to the other side of the hallway.

"Oh, we should be fighting them together, but no, you were weak." Fake-Sinclair said picking up a gun.

~Meanwhile with Cameron~

"Okay, I'm starting to get the alarms working." Cameron stated, to nobody as Chase materialized, looking around for everyone while the alarms went off.

"The hell?" Chase asked.

"Get him, Sinclair, the shite's a spy." Cameron explained. "He's also a phony."

~Back with Yasamin and Fake-Sinclair~

"You don't know how good you had it." Fake-Sinclair stated, aiming the gun at Yasamin, as Chase materialized behind him.

"Boo." Chase stated.

Sinclair quickly spun around before he felt a pair of large muscular hands gripping his wrists, squeezing tightly forcing him to drop the gun.

"You came here for the Gen-Lock project right?" Scythe questioned as he brought Sinclair to his knees.

"Get the hell off me you freak." Fake-Sinclair shouted, his Nano-Tech responding to the distress waves his mind was giving off, attacking Scythe.

With Scythe distracted, Fake-Sinclair grabbed his gun, and ran for the elevator, just as it was opening revealing Dr. Weller, who was taken hostage by the Fake-Sinclair.

"Whoa, easy." Chase exclaimed holding out his hands, as Scythe lit his body on fire, destroying most of the Nano-Tech surrounding him, while the rest returned to Fake-Sinclair's side.

"You will not, take him." Yasamin stated.

"You understand you're aiming at the most important mind in the entire Polity?" Fake-Sinclair stated.

"Hmm, oh me." Dr. Weller exclaimed. "I'm certain she's aiming at you, but that's nice of you to say." Dr. Weller stated, sounding completely calm about this as the rest of the Nano-Tech entered the elevator with them. "Well, Yasamin, you were right about how today could go…" Dr. Weller was cut off by the elevator doors shutting on them.

Yasamin threw her arms down in anger as she hated the feeling of being helpless and not being able to do anything.

"Don't worry, there's only one thing he's here for, I got this." Chase stated, before disappearing.

"Hang on." Yasamin stated, realizing she was alone in the hall, with the bodies of the soldiers. "Where'd Scythe go?"

~Meanwhile in the Elevator~

"Well, this is exciting." Dr. Weller stated.

"Shut up."

"Uh, I very much doubt you could falsify test results, so either, they turned you…"

"Shut. Up."

"Or, you're not really Sinclair." Dr. Weller stated, earning a glare from Fake-Sinclair that told him he was right. "Ah, there we go, progress, presumably you killed him then? What is your plan anyhow, no I'm really curious, what do you want? How do you think you'll get away?"

"Answer's one in the same." Fake-Sinclair stated as the elevator doors opened.

"Down, get down on the ground now." Raquel shouted.

It was obvious that Miranda was about to enter the lab, before she was caught off guard by what was going on.

"Yeah I really don't think that's happening." Fake-Sinclair stated as Miranda raised her hands, backing off.

She looked to Raquel, who nodded, informing her to take action. As soon as Fake-Sinclair was close enough, she took action by grabbing his arm, and bringing the gun away from his head.

Fake-Sinclair powered up his suit before sending Miranda flying back sliding against the ground, before the other soldiers came through to attack. Fake-Sinclair slammed Dr. Weller into the soldiers, before rushing into the lab, using his Nano-tech to lock the doors, and keep anyone from trying anything funny.

"I suggest everyone stays very, very still. Here's the deal, I want a Holon. Order the droid to upload me, or I turn to smoke lose." Fake-Sinclair stated before he was grabbed by the back of the neck and brought face to face with a very pissed off Scythe just as the other Gen-Lock pilots appeared on the scene.

"What the hell is he doing in there?" Kazu questioned.

"I've heard stories of the ruthless nature of the Wolverine who made himself known as blood thirsty animal, over the last few years, but to see how he operates in person is just so incredible." Valentina stated.

Scythe looked up to Dr. Weller, who nodded his head in confirmation, before the Etherion Godslayer looked back down to Fake-Sinclair.

"You seriously think you're Gen-Lock compatible?" Scythe questioned switching his grip to the front of Fake-Sinclair's throat. "Then why don't we test that theory?"

Scythe dragged Fake-Sinclair to one of the Upload-Beds, and let go of Fake-Sinclair. Fake-Sinclair looked at him skeptically, as Scythe held his open hand towards the bed, encouraging him to get in.

"Go on, I'll upload you myself." Scythe stated walking over to the control console.

"How the hell did he even get in there?" Cameron questioned.

"He probably hid in Fake-Sinclair's shadow, and emerged when he had to." Dr. Weller stated.

"Hid in his shadow?" Kazu questioned.

Fake-Sinclair lied down in the Uploader-Bed, and allowed the top to close on him, sealing him inside of the pod.

"Ready to experience what death is like?" Scythe asked.

"I'm not dying, I'm leaving here with a Holon." Fake-Sinclair stated before his eyes widened in pain, as he felt like his brain was on fire.

"Oh, that's a laugh." Scythe stated standing over the pod as Fake-Sinclair stared at him in confusion. "You see, you need a specific brainwave to be compatible with the Gen-Lock programing, you are not compatible, so now, your brain is turning to liquid because of that incompatibility. I'll see you in hell."

Just as Scythe said that, Fake-Sinclair's vitals flat-lined and blood began leaking out of his ears and nose. Scythe looked up from the pod to see everyone else standing there, in shock.

"Now that is why, you want to be Gen-Lock compatible everyone." Scythe explained opening the doors. "If you're not, then you get a one way trip to the afterlife."
