Chapter Three

A/N: The year is 2014 and the month is June. Aka it's more than a year since I started writing this story, and it has also been more than a year since I last updated. Please do not think too bad of me, but here is chapter three, which I hope is not too awful, and I will do my best to update soon again and not leave you hanging for this long again. This will not be a very long fic, but I want to at least finish it, so a few more chapters will be coming, hopefully before another year has passed.

Now, considering it's been a year, my grammar probably should have gotten better, but I feel as if it has instead become worse. And I would also like to point out that I haven't read the books for over a year, but I'm still aware that it was Annabeth who was a bit hostile towards Rachel, and not the other way around, but for the sake of this story, I've decided to do it this way, please don't dislike me, thank you very much. Now you probably don't want to read this rambling any longer, so hear you go, please enjoy, chapter three/trois/tre/kolm:

Annabeth

The school was built like a U. The building in the middle was house A, and that was where classes were held and the dining hall was. On the right side of house A was house B, where students lived and also the gym hall was. On the right side of house A was house C, where also students lived, and in one of the rooms on the first floor was a huge library, which I had already paid a short visit to, even before I had looked up where my room was. In the middle of the buildings was a courtyard, with a fountain in the middle and grass and some trees and bushes spread out neatly across the yard. Percy and I crossed the courtyard to get to house A where breakfast was served between six and eight a.m during school days, and eight and ten a.m during weekends.

I wasn't very surprised that the dining hall only was half full, since classes didn't start until tomorrow and therefor most of the students who had arrived probably still laid in their beds.

We had just gotten inside of the door to the dining hall when Percy waved to a girl and a boy sitting at a table on the other side of the room. Percy went over to a long table next to where we were standing and grabbed a blue tray from the end of the table. I went after him and then I grabbed whatever breakfast food was closest to me, not wanting to linger to long and have Percy dump me. But he stood next to me and waited when he was finished and I poured up a glass of orange juice. Then he made his way over to the girl and the boy he'd waved to before, and as before I followed him and sat down next to him. I smiled carefully at the boy and the girl, and the girl gave me a slightly suspicious glare, but the boy grinned back happily at me.

"Annabeth, this is Grover and Rachel," Percy said and gestured to the boy and the girl. The girl gave me a curt nod, and took a sip from the cup in front of her. "

Oh yeah, Percy told us about you yesterday. Man, I always knew Percy was more of a Penny, those eyelashes are way too feminine!" the guy, Grover, said and laughed. Percy rolled his eyes next to me.

"Just, shut up, will you?" he said and took a bite of his sandwich.

"Are we still going to the movies tonight?" Rachel asked.

"Yeah, I'm still in, Grover?" Percy said and took a bite from his sandwich.

"Definitely! You coming too, Annabeth?" Grover asked me and I couldn't help but smile. Percy turned to me too, an expectant look on his face.

"Uhm. Yeah, sure?" I said.

"Aren't you going to meet up with some of your friends then?" Rachel asked. I felt my cheeks heat up from her glare.

"Uh, no, I don't.. I don't really know anyone here.. yet," I replied.

"Well, then it was lucky you got to share room with Percy, so you could start hanging out with us!" Grover said, smiling. When I glanced at Percy from the corner of my eye, I saw that he was studying Rachel with a confused look.

Percy

Rachel was acting weird. And not normal-weird, like the art-ish weird, which is the usual Rachel, when she runs around rambling about different art-styles and like that time when she gave the guide at a museum we were at once a lesson about some artist who died ages ago who apparently hadn't done something the guide had said he had, or something like that.

So Rachel used to be weird, but the entire day today she had been acting strange, in a different than the usual way. After breakfast we'd been sitting outside on the grass in the courtyard, and Grover had been trying to help a bird which had fallen out of its nest. Annabeth had gotten out a book from a bag she apparently had been carrying, and read in it while Rachel and I had discussed whether or not we were going to eat dinner in town before the movies, or if we were going to eat it in the dining hall. It seemed as if eating in town was winning, after Percy had stated that it was the last night before classes and we should go all out. The comment had gotten a "preach it" from Grover and Rachel had just rolled her eyes and agreed. The day had passed by in the same manner, just hanging out outside in the sun, until suddenly Annabeth shot up from were she was sat leaning against a tree, almost dropping her book in the process.

"What's up?" I asked, looking up at her as she stood in front of me.

"The matron!" she exclaimed, and made a slight gesture with her arm towards the house behind her.

"Yeah?" I said, not really understanding what she was trying to say.

"Our room, Percy! We were supposed to go back to her today, and it should be fixed so we'd get other rooms," she said, impatience evident in her voice and the sigh she let out.

"Oh, yeah, right. Uh, should we go there now, or?"

"Yes, come on, let's go and get this over with," she said and barely waited for me to get up before she stalked off to the house, with me trailing behind.

But when we reached the matron's office, the door was locked and a sign had been put up. Will be back tomorrow at 7.30 a.m! :-), the sign read and Annabeth turned around with an annoyed sigh.

"What are we going to do now?" she groaned and gave the sign a rude glare.

"I guess we'll just have to share room another night?" I replied with a small grin, slightly amused by her annoyance. "Or did I snore to loud?" I added. She snorted and rolled her eyes at me.

"Yeah, it was torture, I think I'd rather sleep on the floor in the hallway than endure another night of those loud snores," she said with a smirk.

"Hey, that was mean," I replied with a laugh as we started walking back towards the front door. When we walked by the stairs, Annabeth stopped.

"I'm just going to head up to the room first, and grab some stuff, I'll be right back," she said and ran up the stairs before I had time to reply. When five minutes had passed I proved how impatient I was by heading up the stairs after Annabeth to see if she was ready soon. When I reached out corridor I saw that the door to our room was slightly ajar, and I could hear the low murmur of Annabeth's voice. I never meant to eavesdrop, but somehow I was standing just outside the door and listening.

"No, for the hundredth time, I'm fine. It's good here, yeah," I heard her say, and I couldn't help but wonder who she was talking to. Maybe her mom? Or some friend from San Francisco? "I think I have to go now, I'm heading out with some people, no, we're going to the movies. I don't know yet which... Oh, okay, yeah, tell them I said hi! I miss you too, love you, bye." Or maybe she'd been on the phone with her boyfriend. For some unexplainable reason I had a feeling similar to disappointment when I figured it was probably the latter.

I ended the conversation with my dad by pressing the red button and then I picked up my bag and almost threw up the door straight in Percy's face as I entered the corridor.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't- I didn't know you were-," I started rambling as I stood eye-to-eye with Percy.

"No, it's my fault," he replied and rubbed at his nose.

"Did I hurt you?" I asked and pointed at his nose.

"No, no, I'm fine," he said. "Let's go, shall we?" Percy motioned towards the stairs and I shut the door behind me before we headed downstairs and out to the courtyard where Rachel and Grover were still sitting. After everyone had checked that they had both money and other necessities we walked out through the school gates and towards the bus stop. As we walked towards the setting sun, all dramatic and movie-like, I couldn't help but return Percy's smile as I already was starting to feel comfortable here. Although I wasn't sure how long that feeling was going to last, considering I still hadn't gotten my real roommate, and tomorrow was going to be the first day of classes.
