"So...we are heading back towards Pewter City, right?"
"Of course, both Viridian City and Pewter City have gym leaders. I's be stupid to go anywhere else when there are two gyms so close already."
"...right...but I thought Viridian City's gym leader wasn't accepting challenges."
"He'll accept mine!" Gary smirked cockily.
Raising brow, Kagome frowned, "you seem awfully confident, I'm not so sure though. I heard he left Viridian City a couple years ago and hasn't been seen since. Apparently, he's some kind of business man, and he's been away taking care of his other work...hasn't had time to deal with trainers...maybe?"
Gary was clenching a fist in agitation at what Kagome had said, "what's the likely hood that you heard wrong?"
"...it's a rumor, so I guess the chances are fair."
"Then we will still stop in Viridian City. Since we are traveling to Pewter City anyways, we have to travel through Viridian City anyways, so it's no like we'll be wasting our time or anything. Along the way, we can catch some Pokemon and get this Pokedex underway."
Kagome looked curiously at the Pokedex that she held in her hand, opening it up, she watched it blink to life. Curiously pushing a button, she watched the screen light up with a picture of herself on the small screen.
"I'm Dexter, a Pokedex programmed by Professor Oak for Pokemon Trainer, Kagome Higurashi, of the town of Pewter. My function is to provide Kagome with information and advice, regarding Pokemon and their training. If lost or stolen, I cannot be replaced."
"...ah..." Kagome looked over the options in the menu, and found her captured Pokemon to consist of only one entry. Selecting it, she continued to follow behind Gary as she listened to Dexter.
"Flaaffy, the evolved form of the Electric Sheep type Pokemon, Mareep. Flaaffy's wool quality changes so that it can generate a high amount of static electricity with a small amount of wool. The bare and slick parts of its hide are shielded against electricity. More information can be added on this Pokemon when update at the Poke Lab in the Johto Region."
"Johto Region...?"
"I heard that's where the Jenny who took you in was originally from."
"I'm sorry...the Jenny? That can't be proper grammar." Kagome looked back at Gary who rolled his eyes at what she assumed was her own ignorance.
"There is an Officer Jenny in almost every city...she's got like...a hundred siblings. I've met a couple when I accompanied my grandfather to a few of his science meetings and gatherings."
"...they aren't all named Jenny though, are they?"
"As far as I know, yes." His eyes lit up and he ran forward a bit, "a Rattata, those are supposed to be easy for your first catch!"
Kagome watched as Gary pulled out a pokeball and tossed it forward with a slight spin to it.
"Squirtle, I choose you!"
A red glow shot out of the ball and the little turtle Pokemon appeared before the Rattata.
"Use tail whip, Squirtle!" Gary yelled out, watching carefully both his Pokemon and the Pokemon his Squirtle was battling. "Dodge it's attack, and Tackle!"
Kagome eyed the Rattata and watched curiously as it lunged forward, but Gary had called the move and his Squirtle had lunged out of the way before slamming into the Rattata from the side, knocking it back a few paces. "Impressive,"
"Now one more tackle!"
The Squirtle responded quickly and they watched the spirals form in the rat Pokemon's eyes as it lost it's balance and tumbled forward.
Silently, he pulled out another pokeball and through it at the passed out Pokemon. Kagome watched the red glow pull the Pokemon in, and the ball fell to the ground before shaking once...twice...three times...and then it gave off a soft hum and glowed gently before movement ceased all together. "Did you...get it?"
"Tch...of course I did!" Gary looked at his Pokemon and grinned, "this is only one of many battle we will have, Squirtle, lets aim for the Best!"
"Squirtle!"
He crouched down and picked up the pokeball beside Squirtle, "welcome to the team, Rattata!"
Kagome nodded to herself, 'so that's it...that's how you catch a Pokemon...' turning and walking away, she turned her attention back to the pokedex in hand. It had other stats concerning her Pokemon, besides the obvious stuff. It told her what level her Pokemon was at, and the attacks her Pokemon knew...hell, she'd never used her Flaaffy for a Pokemon battle, so she hadn't been aware of it's attacks. She clicked the button that delved into such information, and listened intently.
"Like all Pokemon, Flaaffy levels up with experience that it gains from Pokemon battles. At the current moment, your Flaaffy is a level seventeen. Flaaffy can be taught up to four moves at a time, when triggered by HM's or TM's, a move can be taught if a Pokemon is capable of learning that move. When leveling up, you can also be prompt to learn a move. Using the Move index found in the menu, you can decide which moves should be forgotten, and which one learned. Flaaffy currently knows Tackle, Thunder Shock, Cotton Spore and Charge."
Kagome released Flaaffy from her confines and smiled as the sheep style Pokemon went straight to nudging against her hand.
"Flaaa~"
She laughed and gently ran her fingers over the wool atop it's head, "what do you think, Flaaffy, want to try and battle with me? If I do something wrong, you'll let me know, yes?"
"Flaaffy!"
"Right!" She grinned, "then lets catch a Pokemon!"

Me: Here is a very long awaited chapter…...sorry...no excuse. I have two jobs, work seventeen hours a day, and apparently I need sleep? Who knew.
