This version has been beta read and tweaked so hopefully it will turn out better and I will be happy with it. Please review. And for any who say she is all that, yeah, I used Eve from Underworld as the girl and her personality is after my oldest daughter, and certain plot points are based on things that have happened in my life. 2/15/2018-Stronghold

Will's point of view…

Oh man, what am I going to do?

I don't have my powers yet, my friends thought I had gotten them. My downfall was coming fast and I was just sitting here flailing in my own mind. I acted like I had them when I didn't, to them it wouldn't have mattered. Lillian is watching me with this look on her face we have known each other for so long, I can practically hear her laughing at me and my soon to be an embarrassment. Not to even mention how my father is going to act, he will lose it. It boiled down to this, my friends would be cool with it but my parents not so much.

"Hello, earth to Will, you going to order or what?" Magenta laughed, her face red trying not to bust up laughing she was failing to make me turn red, the heat moved to my ears.

I say moving up, "Yeah sorry, Magenta,"

I saw all my friends ready to laugh at my confusion, all but Layla, she looked worried her green eyes said so much. We sit together at an empty table in the back of the lunchroom, so we can talk. Lillian gets angry when she is hungry, or when the need calls for her anger to flare up. Glad Layla never acted that way, she was calm and positive.

I laugh at Zach while I eat when the hair on the back of my neck stands up; I looked around until my eyes found some guy staring at me. The guy was huge he had long brown hair with a deep red streak on the left side; he had on a faded leather jacket, with a red and black undershirt. He looked at me with this demented crazy look in his hateful eyes, it says I want you dead and I want the sole pleasure of being the one to kill you.

I asked, "Is it just me or is that demented guy staring at me?" all our friends look, all but Lillian her head is in her book but she would be the first to defend me.

Zach is the first to talk, he has a mouth full of food, "That's Warren Peace, man your dad put his dad in prison, quadruple life sentence," oh, great just flipping great. He looks as if he could eat me for lunch, Layla gives me a soft look. He could eat her too and probably still be hungry.

I say, "First day here and I already have an arch enemy, great, " It would be funny if I wasn't getting death glares from a madman on my first day of high school.

"Is he still looking?" I asked. Please, let him not be looking, please; I chanted over and over.

Layla replied, "Nah" she shook her head, her curls bouncing, I liked how they seemed to glow like embers in the light; flickering like live flames in the light.

"Really?"

Layla's voice gave her away, "Nope" that means he still is.

I had to ask, "Who is Warren Peace?"

Sparrow gave me a look as she talked, "His father is a super villain, Barron Battle. Battle fell deeply in love with the heroine Lady Peace. But Battle continued his crimes and she left with Warren when he was only a year old."

Trace looked too, "He is a seriously messed up guy, has a bad attitude, and is the leader of some gang of villains. He is going to take over where his dad failed. He can generate fire and control it there isn't a burn cream that can soothe his burns." Trace said, he sounded kind of worried for me, he could feel every emotion I was already feeling.

Oh great, that guy isn't going to let it go, all I wanted him to do was leave me alone. Layla put her hand over mine in a comforting way, it felt so warm I really liked it, I need to ask her out but again she could do so much better than me. We can hear the others at Warren's table laughing, most likely at me being scared.

Lillian's point of view

I rolled my eyes, this has gone on for too long. I can understand the whole dad vs. dad crap, but The Commander put our father in jail but not once did we hold it against Will or his family. People make poor choices, a choice that will forever impact them and those around them. You have no choice but to accept it and move on, learn and do better than they did. But this dude is holding a very long grudge and using it to scare Will, I am all for defending your parents but not for bullying and cruel behavior without reason.

I was listening to them entire time, I finally look up from my book seeing Peace was still glaring at the back of Will's head. The high and mighty villains at his table continue laughing at Will's expense, what a bunch of pathetic low-lives.

I see one girl not laughing, Leah if I remember correctly from power placement. I don't like bullies, even though Peace is hot, a bad attitude could ruin his looks. I start glaring at Peace, just as hard as he was staring at Will, my glare had a fierce determination, his death glare sliding over to mine.

Let the battle begin, I couldn't back down from him. It was a sign of weakness, so that leaves Peace to fail. I can hear the commotion from both tables as they try to get our attention back. A girl with long blonde hair and a white sundress fails to capture Warrens attention, she looked pissed as she resumes holding his hand on the table. His cool gaze returns to his magazine in front of him after a few minutes.

I smile as I turn to look at Will, "I thought as much. Will, you have nothing to worry about."

I try and finish my chapter while I eat my lunch, only a few words left.

Chang says, "Always the bold one." a huge smile on his face as I placed the bookmark into my book before dropping it into my backpack joining my friends.

So, we start up various conversations while we ate, with twenty minutes until the end of lunch. Without my permission, my mind drifted to Peace and when we were glaring at each other, I saw no dislike or animosity only curiosity. Like I was a complex puzzle he wanted to figure out, and that wasn't about to happen. I am pulled from my thoughts by Will's voice sounding worried or scared.

Will said nervously, "Why won't he stop staring?"

I say in a joking way "He likes you, this has nothing to do with your father's. He must think you're cute to be staring so hardcore," we laughed together, it was easier to make jokes than take it so seriously.

Peace seems not to understand boundaries, like how impolite it is to stare at a single person for this amount of time. He actually might be batting for the same team, I wasn't able to tell but enough was enough. Taking my bag, I stand walking closer to his table, stopping right across from him.

I say, "Can you ask Stronghold for a date or a least his number? I mean come on you have been staring at him for over forty-five minutes. Dude, if you like him just talk to him, he is approachable. I can even put in a good word for you." my tone sarcastic and loud enough for quite a few people to hear, with that he stands up, he towered over me making me feel smaller than I was. His body had thick black smoke curling off it in pretty spirals, his eyes narrowed as he looked down at me we don't break eye contact. When the bell rings, his friends standing up smiling; all but blondie of course. Another hottie with long brown hair pulled Peace away.

I knew I made a fool of Peace and he seemed the type to not just let it go, but this took heat off of Will, at least for a little. We walked through the halls to gym class, dodging stray students in a rush to class, when the beauty queen herself stops us.

Gwen asked sweetly. "So how do you like your first day, Will?" Will wasn't in her league, she wouldn't talk to him. She has to want something or for the fact, he is a Stronghold.

"Oh, it's going great so far," He replied as if he wasn't scared, but his tone was flat.

Gwen says, "That's a nice skirt. Layla, is it? " with false kindness, I wonder if anyone else noticed, then she looked us all over sizing us up.

When her gaze rests on me a smile flickered on her face, I just stared back at her with distaste she was scheming.

A girl chimed in, her hair in piggy tails, she stood in her cheer uniform, "No one messes with Warren Peace, not without some kind of violent payback. I'm Penny,"

"We can help watch your back," chimed in Penny 2.

I retort, "I appreciate your offer, but there is something about you three that I can't bring myself to trust," my tone cold and unfeeling.

Siren says, "We need to go or we risk being late," she tried to be forceful it was so adorable when she did.

We started walking towards the gym again, leaving three shocked angry faces behind. Two minutes until class, the boy's drift off to use the bathroom. While we girl's rush to class knowing, the boy's will be late but that was on them. I was turned to Magenta talking when I rounded the corner not looking at all. My body slams into a wall. Wait, I was wrong it wasn't a wall, but Warren Peace's very toned chest. I was lucky, his arms shot out grabbing my arms before I could fall on my ass, looking up into his deep brown eyes, feeling the heat and tingling sensation through his gloves on my bare skin.

He says, "You should watch where you're going, " in a deep voice while releasing my arms, it just got really hot in here didn't it? I breathed in, the swirl of smoke, chard meat and spices hit me making it even worse for me.

I snap back, "Maybe I should, " trying to level my tone not giving my own inner turmoil away.

"Wouldn't want to hurt that pretty little face, now would we," Peace replied in a silky deep voice.

He let his index finger trail along the side of the jawline, moving down my neck making my heart race. His touch was so gentle and warm, I can feel the goosebumps rise on my arms, I can feel the girl's stares digging into my back. In his words was a double meaning one that clicked the moment he said it, our eyes locked on each other. His friend the very same hottie who pulled him away at lunch walked up giving me a smile.

I smirked, "I like to see someone try, so excuse us, Peace, we have class. But on the other hand, I will do you a favor and alert you, Will is in the bathroom if you want to peek " the look on his face was priceless and a little scary. Fingers dug into my skin, but the cherry blossom scent gave Sparrow away as she dragged me away from the two boys, the boy with light brown eyes winked as I waved, Peace shoved him as they walked away.

Sam was like the mama of our group at times, "Lillian, you have a death wish. Stay away from him,"

"We're close with Will, I assumed we are all on his shit list already," Magenta answered Sam, they stared at each other before Sam shrugged her shoulders.

Sparrow is giving me one of her otherworldly looks, her eyes misted with gray. All I can do is roll my eyes at this, but what was Peace really thinking?

We get to the gym, moving to stand by the stage and wait for the second half of power placement to begin. Bored, I lean on the stage. We could hear the boys goofing off, we glance at the door only to see Will, Chang, Trace, Ethan, and Zach walk into the gym late.

Boomer says, "Stronghold you're up, show me your power," that cleared the smile on Will's face as he hung his head like he was walking to the gallows.

I hardly was able to hear Will as he said, "I don't have a power yet."

Boomer either had not heard Will, or he gave zero fucks and wanted to make Will pay for something we would assume his father did to Boomer in high school.

Boomer smirked it wasn't a smile, he says, "You must have super strength like your old man," I watched as he pressed a button on his control pad seconds later a car drops from the ceiling, I count for when my turn comes. Will drops to the floor his face filled with panic, Layla has my small hand in a vice grip, turning it blood red.

Coach Boomer insisted, "So no super strength, you must be a flyer like your mom," Pressing the second button now, Will was sent flying into a tall beam in the gym. If he wasn't a super he would have died on impact, that was a fact.

Coach Boomer insisted again, "What's your power Stronghold?!"

Will yelled back, "I don't have one!"

"SIDEKICK" Coach Boomer yelled making the school shake as we all held onto beams to keep from falling to the floor.

Layla was the first of us to reach Will as he sulked off the stage.

Layla says, "It's okay Will, we don't care and in the long run I am sure your mom and dad won't either" her arms wrapped around him, she coddled that boy way too much, he was a man, not a baby.

Boomer demanded, "Lillian Williams, so are you going out like your sister or are you going to show me your power?"

My sickly-sweet voice echoed, "Just drop the car Boomer,"

My eyes on him as he pressed the first button, knowing I had five seconds until the car would hurt my pretty face if I managed to mess up.

1...2...3...4... Thankfully, the car stops in midair as I look to Coach Boomer. Squeezing my small hand into a tight fist. The car started to go in on itself, with a screeching sound, metal on metal, all that was there when I was finished was a crumpled huge ball of car foil.

"I can control any type of metal,"

He called out, "HERO" Coach Boomer looked pleased. Happily, I walked off the stage with my group of friends who hugged me. After power placement, we were allowed to go to our lockers, thankfully they are all together. We looked around the school as the last class was in session, I walked with Sparrow looking into what looks like lab's seeing Peace and the blonde girl doing a project, she was stunning compared to me.

Peace's eyes drifted up as Sparrow and I talked to each other while looking at how the class would be for us tomorrow, he smiled at us.

I just walked off from that class before we headed for our bus since the day was five minutes from being over. I was happy, happy because I could go home and take a nice nap. I had one foot in the bus after the bell rung when I felt some one's eyes on me; I slowly turn and lock eyes with Warren Peace…
