Chapter 2
I opened my eyes to a slobery kiss on my cheek. "Baka? Did I fall alseep at the Library or was I found on the street?," I said. I heard a worried whine, and forced my unresponive eyes open. Surely enough there was Baka in all her gloriness. I sat up to look at suroundings, but I couldn't move left arm. I looked at my arm, and find it gone. I screamed the sight of it bringing the burning pain with it. I looked around, and saw a forest of some sort "Bu-bu-but this is a dream you can't feel pain in a dream! It-it -it- Oh god. Nonononononono! This can't be happening," I said hyperventalting. Baka barked loudly in my ear, and I smile gratefully at her. I used her to sit up, and stared at my arm. It was still bleeding, and pretty heavy to. Maybe when I wake up I'll find out it was a dream. Yeah, this is just one of those really long dreams. There I go! Now just stay out of trouble, and hopefully I'll wake up soon. Scince that was Truth I'm probally in Fullmetal Alchemist. Maybe get some ideas for some stories when I wake up! Let's look on that bright side. I hope I'll remeber the dream when I wake up.
I got Baka to stand up, and some manuvered myself into a standing postion. Atleast it was my left arm gone, and not my right. I'm right handed so I wouldn't hardly be able to do anything if Truth took that. Speaking of Truth, why did he take just an arm? Eqivalent Exchange right? A whole nother world for an arm just isn't making scince. The least my brain could do is come up with a reasonable explaination. I slowly took a step foreword trying to cocentrate only on my foot, and ignore the pain. 'Come on, Sam. Rember what Max said in Maximum Ride? Pain is just a message and you can ignore it,' I thought. Flinching, I put another foot in frount of the other. All I wanted to do was give up and go to sleep, but I couldn't do that. I'd probally wake up from the dream and have hardly any new story material. I know it was a dream, but I'm not use to have to deal with kinda pain. I mean yeah I've had my share of scraped knees and bruises, but I've never broken a bone little less lost a limb. It hurt. Like a lot. I hope Baka dosn't mind going an inch an hour.
After what seemed like forever, but was probally only half an hour I saw the edge of a town. I knew I was close, but I just couldn't make it. I sat down, breathing hard. I'm not an athletic person...at all, and plus there was the fact that I was missing an arm. That was an good excuse. Baka nudged me in the back trying to get me to keep going, but I shook my head and just layed down. "I'm sorry girl. I just can't make it. I'll see you when I wake up," I said and slowly closed my eyes letting the welcoming darkness overwhelm me.

The dog keep nudging her owner, but got no response. She had no idea how they got there, but she knew her friend was hurt and she need help. She could hear the pounding heartbeat that always comforted her getting slower and slower. She nudged her roughly, and even tried gently biting her, but got no response. She whined in worry, and paced in a circle seemingly chasing her tail. She raised her ears as she heard voices like her owners. In front of her were those large, werid looking buildings her owner always had her in. She rembered that they were heading that way. Maybe owner was heading that way for help! She looked at the limp body of the person who had takin care of her scince she was a puppy, and then took off running as fast as she could towards the voices.
She made it to the place where the soft feeling light grey ground abrutley stopped, and the dark grey and rocky ground began. She ran even harder when the feel of pavement under her paws brought back memories of the first walk her owner had took her on. She skided a littles when she went to turn a sharp curb in the road, making her paws bleed, but she didn't stop to lick her paws to stop the bleeding. She continued knowing her master didn't have much time left if any. She drew her thoughts back to running as she stumbled over her feet. She didn't have the time to be thinking like that. Ahead she saw two figures, one really short and another was quite a bit taller. They were quite odd, even for her masters kind, but she was relived. Maybe her master would survive.
She ran in frount of them and hit the brakes making them stop and also making her presences heard. She panted heavily, exhausted from the run there, and looked at them and thought about how to get them to follow her. Before she could do anything though the tall one said, " Brother, look! It's paws are bleeding!" The smaller one rolled his eyes and went to walk past the dog. " Al, we don't have the time to be helping some stray animal. Come on. We have to report our findings to Mustang...On second thought, let's help it." Al rolled his eyes. " You just wanna don't want to talk to Colonel Mustang." The smaller seemed to get a little depressed. " Oh, I can hear him now. Fullmetal, where are you? Oh wait, there you are! I couldn't see you pass my paperwork cause your so short," The shorter one ranted. The dog heard these sounds coming from there mouth, but understood none of it. She did see the short one walking away, and she understood that much.
Her legs were alittle uncorapative, and she was only able to keep standing by her will to keep her master alive. Leading them back was gonna be ruff but she had to do it! Her master's life was depending on it! With knew strength from her little prep-talk, she ran in frount of the shorter boy. She started barking like mad, and ran a few steps toward where her master was and then back. This was how she told her master she wanted her to follow her, and she hoped that message would get across to them. "What is it doing Brother?," the tall one said. " I don't know. I think it wants us to follow it. Did Jimmy fall down the well boy?," the short one said. The tall one rolled his eyes before bending down and saying, " Is that what you want? You want us to follow you boy." Her ears perked up at the sound of the words 'follow'. Her master always uttered this sound when she did this. Maybe this was their word for following. She was getting somewhere. ' Yes! Follow me! My masters hurt! Help please!,' she barked. It ws times like these she wished she knew the human language.
She went and tugged on the shorter boy's long jacket. The boy looked at the taller boy before shrugging his shoulders. Her master did this usually when she was confused. She sniffed the sair, and smelled confusion coming form the boy and worry coming from the taller one. Her ears flattened and she let go of the jacket in defeat. She couldn't get them to follow. Her master was gonna die because of her failure. The taller one seemed to notice the change. " What's wrong boy," he asked stepping closer. Her ears perked up and she barked taking on step back. Maybe...Just Maybe...They took a step foreword. She barked loudly in excitment. 'Yes! That's it! Follow me!,' she barked. She then took off running towards her master's body. Her ears listened and heard them noisely and clumsly stomping after her. She then started running as fast as she could without losing the two behind her that were agonizingly slow. ' Hold on master. I'm coming,' she barked with determination.
After a long strenuous run, hurting her already hurt paws and acing body, she finally made it towards where her master had passed out. She sniffed the air and smelled the stank of death. She ran to stand next to her putting her nose against her masters body. After a little bit, she finally felt a heartbeat. They were far apart, but she hadn't died yet. She looked at the entrance. She couldn't see the two she had lead here. Had she left them behind on accident in the heat of her worry? If she did, it would cost her master her life. Soon though her worries were washed away when the two burst threw the entrance. The smaller boy was breathing as hard as she was, and bent over, resting his hands on his knees and leaning foreword. The tall one seemed just fine though, which rubbed her fur the wrong way alittle. It wasn't fair that she was exhausted form running so long, and he wasn't even breathing a little hard. Actually...She couldn't hear him breathing at all. She ignored this thoguht to focus on the more pressing matters at hand.
She made her unwilling body run forewords and barked like mad to gain their attention. Then she ran towards her master to drag there attention to her. "WHAT YOU CRAZY DOG?! WHY DID YOU MAKE US RUN ALL THIS WAY!? IT BETTER BE FOR SOMETHING IMPORTANT OTHERWISE I'M GONNA HAVE A REALLY GOOD DINNER-" the short boy ranted. She could smell the anger rolling off him in waves. She stared in confushion for a few seconds, not knowing what she did to make him so angry, but contiued running back and fourth, hoping they'll look up so she can finally rest. ' Come on you idiots! She's dying right in frount of you!,' She barked out as she started woundering if they just didn't care. Maybe she had gottten some really rotten souls who enjoyed watching people die. No, then the tall one wouldn't smell so worried. He should care. Why won't they just look up!? Finally, her wish was granted. The tall one looked up, and she knew he had saw her master, because his smell of worry strengthened. " Brother," the tall one said breaking the little boys rant which hadn't stopped. " WHAT?!," he yelled still angry, his head snapping to look at him. The smell of anger gave way to worry and concern when he saw the guy's look of horror. He slowly followed the guy's glaze to my master, a look of horror casting over his face as well at the sight of my master. The boy quickly started running towards my master that was behind guy soon followed. I ran to my master's side as well laying inbetween my master's body and right arm. I whined at the slow heartbeat. The boy sat down on the gorund next to Master, and felt on her neck. Usally I would bite that hand, but Master's life was at risk, so I resisted. He looked a little relived whne he felt the tell-tale heartbeat, but grew more worried at the fact it was slow. He looked over master's body to find any injuries that would cause this, and found her missing arm, which porbally shoul have been the first thing he noticed. His eyes widened, uncontusiously grasping at his right arm. The guy had came sometime while I was distracted by watching the little boys movements, and said, " Brother! We have to get her to the hospital," The guy said. The boy looked at him and nodded. He took off his jacket, and slwoly moved me off Master. I let him move me, aware of the pressing put his jacket over her, and moved to her left side. He touched her left stump,to which she flinched away moaning in pain, and I snapped at him. Ed slowly and more carefully tied the sleeve of that jacket aroung that stump, while the guy held me back from tearing the little boy apart because he was causing more pain to my already hurting master. The boy the picked sister up by putting one hand under her knees and one under her arms. " Brother, are you sure you don't want me to carry her," the guy said letting go of me after I had stopped growling. "No offense Al, but her body tempature is already dropping at a fast rate, and cold steel won't help that," the boy replied. The guy smelled a little put off to which I looked at him confused. Why was he upset at himself ahen my Master was in trouble? We then started running back to the town my Master had been walking to, with me in the lead. 'Please be okay Master,' I thought, running with all my might, Adrenaline pushing the pain to the back of my brain. 'Be okay.'
