Man, how long has it been, right?!
Sorry about that.
Disclaimer: I still own nothing. Also, I've decided this is going to be a five or so chapter fanfiction, which I hopefully will be updating sooner than the last time (whoops)
After an hour or so of walking past several dark alleys and listening to the music in her phone, Jinx finally found the place she had been looking for. It was at the end of a hidden road. She thought that if she hadn't been careful enough, she could have missed the house. Stepping closer, she inspected the place. It wasn't really fancy... damn, it wasn't even that decent. It was an old rusty duplex. The painting seemed to have faded a long time ago, so Jinx thought the house could have been either orange or yellow at its best moment, when it was still "pretty". The windows were secured with metal bars that made the house look like a small prison. The door number read "69" and had a very suggestive cartoon drawn at one side. She noticed someone had turn the first number upside down, so it was actually a "99".
"Yep, this is the place. Why am I not surprised?" Jinx thought.
Carefully, she stepped in closer and knocked the door. It was still pretty cold outside and she just wanted to lay down in a bed and get some sleep. After that, well… she actually had no plans for the future. She wasn't even sure why she had left her team or if she wanted to go back or not. "Well, let's just let future Jinx worry about it" she thought and shrugged as she waited for someone to open the goddamn door. It was late and she didn't feel like thinking about any of it for now.
She heard a groan and footsteps from behind the door. "Wait up, I was sleeping!" Someone yelled. The door opened slowly and a tall boy with messy dark brown hair and sleepy eyes scanned her from the doorframe, as if he was trying hard to recognize the person that had just knocked his door. He had napped too hard again, so he was having a hard time adjusting his eyes to the light outside, even if it was dark already. Once he got a good view of his visitor he smirked.
"Well, well, well, look who's"
"Shut it, Jason" Jinx said, pushing the door so she could step inside and get away from the freezing cold of the night.
"Great manners Jinx, I see you haven't changed" He said, closing the door behind him "Thought you were going to come earlier"
"I had to take care of some business on my way to your place"
"Someone bothering you back there?" Jason asked "Nobody followed you, right? You know shit's gonna go down if someone knows I'm staying here"
"No Jason, nobody followed me, I'm not stupid. I know what could happen." Jinx said, already exasperated.
"Fine fine, just making sure!" He threw his hands up in the air. "I know you're not stupid, kitty" He said smirking and getting closer to her, resting his right arm on the wall behind Jinx, enclosing her between his body and the wall.
Jinx didn't look surprised, but then she decided to follow his game.
"You have a very pretty smile" She said with a smirk of her own as she ran one of her fingers up and down his chest, flirtatiously. "But if you wanna keep it that way, you should never call me that again" Her face became serious as she released a small pink hex that caused him to step back in pain.
"OUCH! Dammit, can't you take a little joke, woman?! Jesus!" he said as he rubbed his chest to ease the pain she caused with her hex.
"I'm not in the mood for jokes, Jason" She said coldly. Jinx looked at him still rubbing his chest and almost felt sorry for him. He was letting her stay in his place after all, even if it could put him in danger and everything. Still, she was no stupid. This was going to cost her. She never thought of him as a friend and she was sure neither did he. It's not like villains had a bunch of people they could trust their lives on, anyways.
"Ok, don't be a little baby, it was just a small one" She told him.
"Yeah well, it has been a while since the last time I had one of those, I had forgotten the feeling… Anyways, want me to show you where you're gonna sleep?"
"Please" She replied "I feel like I'm gonna kill someone if I don't get any sleep soon"
"Really? No way, I didn't even notice!" He said as he started walking up a stairs and gestured her to follow, and so she did.
They stopped in front of a small white door that had pieces of dry painting falling off of it. The door led to a tiny room equipped only with a bed and a nightstand with a small bedside lamp on it. The bedroom seem pretty clean and the bed looked comfy. Well, Jinx was so tired she could have slept anywhere. She thought Jason was going to make her sleep in some couch downstairs, she wasn't even expecting a bed and blankets. Damn, her eyes felt so heavy…
"You can put your bag here on this side of the bed. The night lamp doesn't work really well, but sometimes I hit it and it lights up for a few minutes, then it starts fading again. The bathroom door is the one at the end of the hallway and there's a clean towel I left for you in one of the drawers, the top one I think. Anyways, it's the blue towel. That's the clean one. Don't use the others unless you want my balls indirectly touching your face."
"Got it", Jinx nodded.
"Also, you can always let me know if you want some company in the shower…" He said winking and blowing her a kiss.
"Will not" Jinx said shaking her head.
"Well, at least I tried." Jason said, walking towards the bedroom door. "Don't you wanna go downstairs grab some food? You can leave your stuff here, I have some pizza and beers left from the other night"
"Nah, thanks. I'm just really tired" Even though she was hungry, Jinx wasn't really in the mood for small talk with anyone. She still had to figure out what she was going to do from now on. Damn, she hadn't even figured out why she had left in the first place. Besides, she couldn't stay in this guy's place forever -not like she wanted to, anyways-. She still wasn't sure how much she could trust him. Also, the idea of eating an old pizza didn't really sound appealing. She remembered she had some cereal bars she took from the H.I.V.E's kitchen before she left, so she thought that'll do for today. She could have a decent breakfast tomorrow.
"Allright, suit yourself then, kitty. You're welcome to stay here for as long as you want" he said, closing the door behind him before Jinx could say anything about the stupid nickname.
Once she was alone, she sat on the bed and started taking notes of herself, her thoughts and her surroundings. She felt lonely, and it had been a while since the last time she felt like this. Sure, her classmates, and later, teammates of the H.I.V.E were not the best company she could wish for, but at least they made her feel like she was not alone. And now she was on her own and she had no idea why she had left them along with her home…
I mean, of course there was a good reason, but she just didn't want to admit it yet. And no, it wasn't because of that redheaded jerkface, Kid Flash. Sure, he helped a bit, but he was not the main reason… she left because she knew that what the idiot had said was true, that she could do better. Now, what did "better" specifically mean, she wasn't sure. A better villain? A better person? A hero?
She laughed silently at the last thought. That kind of "better" had never crossed her mind. Ever. Of course she knew her team was holding her back, she could be a better villain… but after the incident with Madame Rouge, she highly doubt she had any possibilities left. And, to be honest, she wasn't sure if she still wanted those possibilities anymore.
Anyway, who the hell thinks he is, Kid Flash?! Following her around like she was some damsel in distress, thinking he knows her better than she knows herself. Bullshit. She had chosen the life of crime and she was aware of what that decision meant. By the time the old headmaster of the H.I.V.E Academy found her, she had seen enough of the world to know how bad the place was. And the people living in it too. So she chose to join the academy, to be selfish and only care about herself, just like everyone else in the world did.
"I'm supposed to sleep" she reminded herself, snapping out of her thoughts. Her mood had darkened and she was still tired from all the walking from earlier. She stripped out of her clothes and put on an old oversized shirt she wore as pijamas. She got in the bed and covered herself with all the blankets Jason had left her, slowly drifting to sleep.
She was so tired and lost in her thoughts she didn't even hear the conversation taking place on the other side of her door.
"Yeah, she's here. Tomorrow's fine", he said, hanging up his phone.
Boom, cliffhanger!
