Well, here's the next chapter. I send my thanks to Journey Maker. Her review for the last chapter was so nice. I hope I'm doing great with this story. In this chapter, Kaiba is envied by not just the girls, but the guys as well because he's cool, popular, and rich – the same things they wish they were. Plus, they also compare Kaiba to a wild horse that can't be tamed (or can he?).
Plus, as this is an Alternate Universe, Kaiba will be a bit... different from how he's usually portrayed; don't like, don't read, please.
I'm doin' this tonight
You're probably gonna start a fight
I know this can't be right
Hey baby come on
I loved you endlessly
When you weren't there for me
So now it's time to leave and make it alone
I know that I can't take no more
It ain't no lie
I wanna see you out that door
Baby, bye, bye, bye…
Bye Bye
Don't wanna be a fool for you
Just another player in your game for two
You may hate me but it ain't no lie
Baby, bye, bye, bye...
Bye Bye
Don't really wanna make it tough
I just wanna tell you that I had enough
It might sound crazy
But it ain't no lie
Baby, bye, bye, bye
-NSYNC, Bye Bye Bye
The teacher, Ms. Norbury, who had pale skin, dark green eyes and dark brown hair, had her back to the class writing something about integers on the board. However, nobody except Kaiba was able to grasp the concept, as he had learned all about integers back in Domino High, and he was a genius.
Kaiba sat in his seat with that cold-as-ice expression that said,
"Go ahead. Try to impress me."
Of course, from the moment he saw them, Kaiba disliked the Plastics (or as he preferred to call them, "the Witches of North Shore High School").
He was tired of all those obnoxious, flirty girls who were too overconfident. He had never liked that kind of girl in the first place; they would always speak their minds before thinking and had too high of an opinion of themselves.
He listened quietly as the teacher spoke on and on about integers, often giving the answer when called upon. Ms. Norbury was surprised.
"Well, Mr. Kaiba, that's…absolutely correct. I wish everyone in this room, including Regina, Gretchen and Karen, knew how to do this stuff."
"Well," Kaiba replied as he turned to the Plastics, "maybe if you girls weren't so busy working on your looks, hair and nails and spent more time on your schoolwork, then maybe you would learn something."
A few of the kids (the boys) whispered things like "Go, Kaiba!" and "You tell ‛em!"
They were jealous of Kaiba, as well as intrigued and frustrated by him.
Then when the bell rang and Kaiba got up to go to his next class, Social Studies, he was doing a lot of thinking.
"How am I going to seduce Abigail over to my side in order to make those Witches jealous, showing them that I am not to be toyed with? This is a tough one, and I did take the first step in sending her that e-mail, but I think I'll come up with something to assure her. I always do."
However he then growled in frustration when he couldn't come up with an idea, and he was still angry when entering the classroom and sitting down at his desk.
Unfortunately, he was not at all comforted when Regina made her appearance. He narrowed his eyes upon seeing her form.
Great. Just what I need, he thought.
He wondered what she could possibly want now. Didn't she know when to admit defeat? But then again, he thought, I love a good chase as much as the next guy.
"Hi, Seto! I was wondering if you wanted to join me and my friends for lunch today," she said as she flashed a laser-whitened smile at him. "That way, you could tell us more about yourself."
"No," Kaiba said bluntly as he began to type on his laptop.
"What? What do you mean, ‛no'?" asked Regina, shocked.
"Because I can see right through this little plot of yours, you cold-hearted snake," he growled, smirking mentally at the nickname for her. He loved to call those Plastics names he thought suited their personalities.
Regina George was easy; a snake was just what she reminded him of. He knew someone who was like that in human form – namely, his stepfather (who he disliked with a passion), Gozaburo Kaiba.
He would call Karen Smith an airhead, since she was the dumbest girl in school. According to him, she "was too dependent," and "couldn't even open a book without someone to help".
Gretchen Weiners was a bit more of a challenge. Kaiba had to think of a really good nickname for her. He thought hard, and then it came to him – "Girly Witch".
Regina was in even more shock.
"Seto!" she said. "I cannot believe you have the nerve to call me a snake!"
"Well that's because you are," hissed Kaiba.
Then he added, smirking darkly,
"You know, besides being a cold-hearted snake, you're also a slut."
This really infuriated Regina. Kaiba had discovered her weak spot.
"WHAT?" she snapped. "I am not!"
Kaiba kept his cool while continuing to type on his laptop as Regina continued to pour out her anger. How Kaiba kept his cool when another person was angry really kept the school wondering.
"Maybe he's just like that."
"Maybe Kaiba got it from somewhere."
"Or maybe, that's just part of his personality."
"I think it's neat."
"I cannot believe you, Kaiba! You call me cold-hearted when it's obvious you're also like that as well.
"This isn't over!" she added after a moment. "I'll get those Junior Plastics back for this, Kaiba…if it's the last thing I do!"
With that she headed out of the classroom in a tangle of blonde hair and furious, cold brown eyes, Kaiba couldn't help but wonder about one thing.
Junior Plastics… Junior Plastics…
The name rang through Kaiba's mind as he wondered (against his will, as he never was one to ponder anything) who the "Junior Plastics" were.
Were they a group of girls that looked up to the Plastics and idolized their every move, thought and deed? Or were they ten times worse than the Plastics themselves?
He didn't know.
So Kaiba then tried to focus on the matter at hand. How am I going to use Abigail as a pawn, like in a chess game, to turn those two cliques against each other? he wondered.
He thought for a moment. And then, as quick as a flash of lightning, the answer came to him. And he smirked…for the second time that day.
"The Plastics and the Junior Plastics will never know what hit them."
He then laughed evilly. No, he thought. They won't indeed.
Meanwhile, the Junior Plastics – Amanda, Katie and Alexis – had also heard the news that Kaiba had rejected Regina – and not just once, but twice.
Amanda, a blond-haired, blue-eyed girl who had a reputation for being just like Regina, grinned.
"He is so ours, girls," she said confidently.
Katie and Alexis nodded.
"You said it, Amanda," replied Katie, who was a little like Gretchen.
"I agree. He is," said Alexis, who was a lot like Karen. Only she was a bit smarter. It was said she could quote a whole book in five seconds from memory.
With that, it was settled.
There would be war. The stakes were high.
As for the prize, it was to see who could win the heart of the sexy, cold-as-ice CEO.
According to some of the guys, Kaiba was "like a wild stallion that could not be tied down or tamed by any girl at all by any means necessary". And that was saying something.
There was something about Kaiba that made the guys simultaneously intrigued, envious, and anxious.
In other words, Kaiba was "wild at heart".
He had all those things the other guys wished they had. Looks, money, influence, and passion.
"Kaiba is so cool."
"I wish he would give me tips on how to be a real man."
"Oh, yeah? I wish he would be the leader of our group. He's cool enough to be the embodiment of a real man – the guy we wish we could be."
Of course, Kaiba caught the whispers of the boys as he walked down the hall.
He turned to one and said, "You think I'm the embodiment of a real man?"
When the boy nodded, Kaiba replied, "Get yourself back into reality. I'm just another guy, like all of you boys in the crowd."
Then he resumed walking down the hallway, but stopped and turned to a bully with brown hair and dark green eyes.
The bully looked up at Kaiba, his face full of confidence, and he balled his right hand into a fist as the CEO gave him his trademark cold stare.
"You're nothing but a scared little puppy dog cringing in fear," Kaiba said casually.
"Oh, yeah?" snapped the bully. He pulled his fist back. Then his eyes widened in shock as Kaiba reached up and caught his fist with his hand.
"Huh?"
Kaiba smirked. "You should know better," he said, "than to mess with me, you silly mutt."
"Kaiba," growled the bully, "I'm not a mutt, you – you – "
"Now I know why you're not so good when it comes to English. Stop trying to take your frustrations and insecurities out on an innocent person and get a hobby," Kaiba replied, smirking still. "And they call you sharp as a switchblade."
With that he let go of the bully's fist and resumed his walk to his next class.
The other guys saw this and, feeling encouraged, called out after Kaiba things like "Go, Kaiba!" and "You're the man!"
Kaiba heard them and smirked.
There was one thing he liked about North Shore High already. And that was making the bullies mad enough to try to push him around.
He loved seeing the passion in their eyes. The raging forest fires that went out of control. And most of all, they were like dogs...
Then he remembered Joey Wheeler, and made a mental note to write to him and tell him all about it.
Yeah, he thought. I'll do just that when I get the time.
Oooh, sounds like Kaiba is wild at heart! (I secretly love that in a guy like him.) He really knows how to take on a bully, and he has catlike reflexes when doing so as well. Plus, I hope that guy learned a good lesson. Well, I hope this chapter is long enough – and now I need to flesh out and cook up the next one.
And as always, nice feedback is very much appreciated, of course.
