'Wanna hang out tomorrow?' Those words kept echoing inside her mind like a broken record. Yelena couldn't decipher by what he meant when he said that… Was he asking her out for a date..? Or was he just being polite since he felt sorry for her? Or maybe he was just trying to mess with her head, distracting her from whatever she wants to do? …Or maybe he wants to control her mind, and use her as a minion to take over the world...!?
…She slumped her face into her pillow and muffled her own cries for help. She never encountered any events like this in her entire life. Maybe she was taking things a bit too dramatically, but she was just being cautious, that's all. Besides, she was a girl, and being too careful didn't hurt anybody, right? …Right?
Rolling around in her bed, she regretted passing out on him. That was the second time this week. And she had a lot of nerves for letting him carry her to the nurse's office. Again. "Why did he leave his stupid phone number anyway? Did he expect me to call him or something?" She unfolded the piece of paper that she found back at the clinic. She started reading it over and over again.
'Let me explain, I didn't mean to make you faint…
you should see a doctor or some kind of professional.
Obviously, your phobia always gets the best of you, but
of course, it's okay to be scared once in a while.
Very sorry for scaring you. I really didn't mean to.
under any circumstances, call me when you need help.
Even if you think I'm scary, I don't mind hanging out with you
-Kuroko xxx – xxx - xxxx'
She couldn't help but chuckle when she saw the handwriting. That Tetsuya-dude probably wasn't used to writing in romaji[1]. But she must admit that she was touched when he carried her to the clinic safely, and that he even left her a letter. Not everyone does that nowadays. Yelena fondled the piece of paper, closing and opening the letter every now and then.
A knock was heard, and the door opened, revealing her uncle. He brought her dinner to her room. "Feeling any better?" Even before he entered, Yelena made sure to hide the piece of paper Kuroko gave her. She's not going to risk letting her uncle find out about that. He went inside and placed her meal down on the side-table. "Didn't I tell you to always eat your veggies? Now look at you, you're so sickly, you can't even last a whole day outside."
Yelena wanted to talk back, but she was too tired and lazy to do so. She just sighed and pulled the blanket up to her head and blocked all sounds with her mp3 player. "Rena[2]… listen to me when I'm talking to you." She still wasn't listening. He sat at Yelena's bed. "At least eat your dinner. I made your favorite."
She peeked one eye out of the blanket. "You're in college now, right uncle? Why aren't you studying yet? You should go study now. Hurry, your very livelihood is at stake." When her uncle was about to rub her hair, she swiftly retreated back inside the blanket, which made her uncle laugh. "If you want me to leave that badly, you could just say so." He stood up, approaching the door. "But make sure to eat your dinner. ALL of it." He smiled and bid his good night. After hearing the door being closed, Yelena got out from her blanket and started eating her food. "B-broccoli? Aww…Why's there broccoli… I hate broccoli…"
After eating her dinner, she once again read the paper over and over. It was almost 9 at night and she still doesn't know what to do. "…'I don't mind hanging out with you' huh?" She kept on opening her phone and types in the words to say, then ends up erasing them. It was just her 2nd day, but she suddenly has this big dilemma about a boy in school. Oh, typical high school. So immature.
"…"
"That's it!" a realization dawned at her. "It is so immature! Why didn't I thought of it sooner?" She got up from bed and was narrating to herself. "Why should I waste my time being 'lovesick' when I should use my time on studying?" She stood up on her bed, and pointed her phone like a sword. "Being googly-eye over boys is so immature! And I'm waaay too mature to do that! A student's job is to study hard! And studying hard is very mature!" She smirked to herself, and laid herself to sleep. "Hah. I am mature. Very mature. And awesome. Very awesome." She grabbed her stuffed toys and hugged them as she slept. Fufufu…
In the following morning, Kuroko was half-expecting a text message and half-expecting a police officer giving him a restraining order due to a weird girl's phobia. The bluenette checked his phone. 5 new messages. Huh… it'd be a miracle if she did sent him a text. He checked the caller id's,… 4 of them are from the Seirin team, and one from Kise. Sighing, he got up from bed and proceeded to fix himself up before leaving the house. "I guess I'll just practice for today."
After wearing a good ol' shirt and shorts and giving Tetsuya#2 a good breakfast (and of course he ate his breakfast too), he went off to the park where he could play ball and practice his new drive. But before he could even leave the front yard, Tetsuya#2 barked at him, and brought him a leash. Kuroko looked confused a bit, "You want me to take you for a walk?" The lil puppy barked while his tail wagged happily.
Kuroko looked up at the sky, "I guess it would be a waste if I spent this beautiful day practicing… All right, Let's go boy." He patted the dog's head gently and leashed him up. "Where'd you wanna go?" "Arf! Arf!" Tetsuya#2 started dragging him outside and off they went to who-knows-where-but-the-dog-itself.
It was a long, long, long walk and Kuroko was close to collapsing. He was practically gasping for air. "You.. could've… stopped… for a minute…." Kuroko said breathlessly. The lil puppy only tilted his head in response. "woof?" the bluenette just took a last deep breath before asking, "So, where'd you take me?" The dog pointed at a building with his snout. "Wait, isn't this where Kagami-kun lives? Oh, do you miss him, boy? Wanna visit?" The dog ran around in circles. "Arf! Arf! Arf!" Kuroko chuckled and urged the puppy to lead the way. "Let's not make him wait."
When they finally climbed up to the right floor, they reached his condominium. The bronze plate had "Kagami residence" written on it. The bluenette rang the doorbell and knocked. "Kagami-kun? It's me Kuroko." He could hear a loud 'ugh. What the hell? Fine, I'm coming' and sounds of struggling footsteps towards the door. The redhead opened his door, "What do you want?" his scowl's present as always.
Kuroko raised the puppy up to the redhead's face, "Arf!" and barked happily. "He said he wanted to check if you're okay." The bluenette raised Tetsuya#2's paw and made him look like he was waving at Kagami. "A-AH! G-get that thing away from me!" he raised his arms to serve as his shield, and since Kuroko felt a bit sorry for teasing him, he put the puppy down and away from the redhead. "I'll seriously get you for this, Kuroko."
"Is visiting you during weekends that bad?" Kneeling down, Kuroko was checking if the injured foot was getting any better. "You live alone, right? Doesn't anyone here help you with your chores? Should I ask your neighbours for help?" Tetsuya#2 tried to walk inside, but Kuroko pulled him away, which made the dog whine sadly. Kagami seemed embarrassed but he just scowled. "It's none of your business."
As if on cue, the door next to Kagami's opened, and Kuroko didn't expect to see what he just saw.
"Uncle, I think I left my math notebook at school, so I'll just-! Oh hey Taiga-kun, how's your ankle? If you need me, don't be shy and just ask, kay?" Yelena flashed a beaming smile at her neighbour, which earned her a silent 'yeah…thanks' from the redhead.
"I'll be going then—G-GAAAH!" Yelena almost bumped into Kuroko, who was still stunned at seeing her there. "T-tetsuya-kun?" Apparently shocked, she was poking his cheek with her index finger. "I-i'm not imagining you, am i?" The bluenette grabbed her hand, he was barely smiling. "Please stop doing that, Zo-zoruna-...Zorunevo-..? …Yelena-san[3]."
Massaging his temples, Kagami raised his voice. "Wait wait wait. You two know each other?" Yelena was about to speak up, but Kuroko beat her to it. "Yes, we do know each other. How'd you two meet?" Kagami facepalmed."How'd we meet? How'd you two meet?" Yelena sighed exasperatedly. "Is there something I'm not getting here?" Kuroko looked at Yelena and said "Who'd knew this was such a small world."
"and it keeps getting smaller." A guy with a deep and husky voice caught them by suprise.[4]
[1] - as far as i know, 'Romaji' is 'romanized japanese', or japanese in ABC's (or something)
[2] - 'Rena' is her nickname. I'll explain it next time :
[3] - Kuroko always call people by their last names, but since Yelena's is a mouthful, he calls her by her first name. ( Since R's = L's, he pronounces Ye-le-na = Ye-re-na)
[4] - I dare you to guess who that dude is. I just dare you to. :D
Author's Note: ASDFGH TOO MUCH OOC-NESS! And that's where I got the title from :D I don't remember where I got those scenes from, but I know it's from a movie… Don't worry though, it's not that OC-centric, I just like writing awkward scenes cuz it makes me laugh, HO HO HO. And speaking of Ho ho ho's, Happy Holidays everyone! I don't think I'll be updating much sooner, but yeah, whatever~!
Yuruya out~! PEACE!
