Wow its really been 4 years... I have been re-reading some of my old work and was actually amazed that I didn't pick this one up in so long. Well I decided to try to continue it from where I left off so here goes nothing! Hope you guys enjoy and let me know what you think!
Disclaimer: Me (and my partner) own nothing but the ideas.
Great, she's Stuck
"Hey Mom! You have no idea how glad I am that you answered the phone!" Kagome sighed with relief. She wasn't in another world, just on a different side of her own. "Yeah, I know. Listen this is going to sound crazy, well no, not quite demons, more like evil computer programs. Well I'm not sure how, but I ended up in France with these kids who secretly fight an evil living computer program. But otherwise I'm fine." She heard her mother say 'oh my' and decided that was probably a good place to leave it.
The lyoko warriors watched her chuckle a little nervously and rub the back of her head. They couldn't believe she was actually straight out telling her mother this, but then again her story seemed pretty strange and it sounded like her mother was surprised but not upset. (they had decided to put her mom on speaker so that they could all hear for themselves her mothers reaction.)
"Honestly I don't know how I'm getting home either. I know you don't have enough money to get me a plane ticket, and the only currency I have on me is from 500 years ago so that doesn't help me here. Oh man, how long am I going to be stuck here?" She partially asked herself. Everyone else in the room looked at her and each other wondering the same thing. How were they going to get her home?
"NO. Absolutely NOT mom! Inuyasha can't travel this far on his own in this time. He get's into enough trouble with not keeping his ears covered at home and in the feudal era he can tick off just about anyone as it is, let alone traveling on his own crossing the countries in our time. NO!" Kagome ranted to her mother after she suggested having Inuyasha pick her up.
"I don't know, wait he hasn't checked in for me yet has he?" Kagome asked. Her mother told her she hasn't even been gone a full day yet so he probably didn't know anything was wrong as of yet. Kagome sighed in relief (this was becoming a usual thing for her now) because she wasn't sure how he was going to react to this, or if he would even understand half of what was happening.
"If he does come by before I get home then just tell him that the well accidentally took me to a different country because of some freak event and I am trying to get back home. He will just have to wait for me." Kagome knew that conversation would not go over well with him, and her mother voiced it too, but what else could they do? Until they figured it all out she was stuck here.
She told her mom she loved her and would talk to her tomorrow. She finally sat back on the chair she was sitting in and took a long deep breath and let it out, why was her life so complicated? After a couple of hours she went home with Yumi so the others could all sleep and maybe think of some ideas on how to either get that well to work again or to raise some money in order to get her a plane ticket to get her home. They had already looked up the prices and the cheapest they could find was ranging from $780 to $1,ooo. In other words it was going to be a while unless they could figure out magic or won a contest somehow. So for now Yumi asked her parents if Kagome could spend the night and promised to explain everything (well leaving out lyoko and the feudal era of course) in the morning. They reluctantly agreed and the girls ate super with them and were now getting ready for bed.
~In Yumi's room~
"Here you can wear some of my clothes for now." Yumi said as she handed Kagome an old tank top and some sweat pants. She figured her older stuff would fit Kagome better due to her being shorter then herself.
"Thank you. And I don't mean just for the clothes. For everything." She started as she changed and then went to lay down on the extra mat that Yumi had gotten out for her. "I'm used to crazy things, but this was definatly not what I had expected when coming home for my math test." She said as she looked up at the ceiling, slightly missing the stars she was so used to sleeping under.
"Yeah from the sounds of it you miss more school then we do. How do you keep up with your grades when you are always traveling around in another time?" Yumi asked. "I mean we, except for the Einstein couple, can barely keep up with our school work and tests as it is with all the Xana stuff, and we even get to re-start days that we get attacked. I can't imagine how you keep up with school." Speaking of which Yumi and the gang still couldn't figure out how Kagome didn't loose her memories from the return to the past.
"Well I just make copies of all my friends notes when I am home, and I carry all of my textbooks and assignments with me and work on them when I can when I'm in the feudal era. Usually its while we are eating or when we are by the fire and going to bed outside for the night. We do that a lot. Oh and sometimes I read while on Inuyasha's back but that's only when I'm not super tired and actually have my books on me at the moment, which is more rare." Kagome answered.
"Wow, isn't that harder then being in class? I mean I understand you have a mission and all so it can't be helped, but it's got to be more stressful then having a classroom where you can ask questions and have more help." Yumi was in awe that Kagome kept up at all. She remembers going through that school system herself and it was just about as brutal as here, except here she didn't have any of her friends in her grade so she couldn't even get help with notes.
"Yeah, I guess I do stress about it a lot. If it wasn't for always fighting and traveling on foot most of the time I would loose more sleep over it. But trust me, I get tired out a lot to the point of just passing out as soon as my head hits whatever I'm using for a pillow. But I will admit I do get nightmares about school from time to time." She chuckled while rubbing the back of her head. Yumi just laughed with her and responded " Don't we all." The girls laughed even more and found a comfortable silence among themselves as they said goodnight and went to sleep.
~ Next Morning~
The next morning they had to call Kagome's mother again and have Yumi's parents talk to her about how sudden all of this was (they were told by the girls that Kagome was part of a foreign exchange program and someone from their school went to hers as well. But seeing as Yumi's family is from Japan she was asked to host Kagome while she stayed here. 'Mr. Dalmas' wink wink even called that morning to tell them that he was so sorry for the last minute notice about it) Kagome's mom confirmed it (really she was just glad they asked if it was true and she just had to say it was and that she was grateful of them to take care of her daughter) and everything was set. It bought the lyoko warriors a couple months to either raise some money or figure out how to work that well that brought her here in order to get her home.
So Kagome is now enrolled as a temporary student at Kadic Academy while she is visiting with her distant cousin Yumi. She was put in Yum'is grade and they basically gave her almost the same schedule as Yumi, except she had a couple of different classes due to some of her classes already being too full.
At the very least though Yumi could keep an eye on Kagome most of the time.
After the first couple of days Yumi found it nice to have someone else her own age to have in class who knew about her secret life and just excepted it. She didn't have to hide anything from her or be so guarded about what she was up to. Usually Kagome just stuck with her and the gang so it wasn't very hard to consider her a friend. Kagome also knew what it was like to have a double life and having to be careful about a lot of stuff that she said so she was already good at making up excuses for things and just going with what the others said.
All in all things were going pretty smoothly, of course that is until the next Xana attack happened.
Alright so after a long absence from this story, how did I do? What were some of your thoughts? Please review and let me know what you think!
