Arryn woke up the next morning when his cell phone blared a Japanese tune. He answered it and put the phone up to his ear. "Hello?"
Hey, Scarfy!
"Hi, mom," he returned.
How was your night?
"I didn't get laid, that's for sure."
Whaaat? Why?
"God didn't want Panty to take my virginity."
That stinks. Oh well, it's fine. So how much closer are you to getting back to Heaven?
"Halfway there, mom."
That's great! I can't wait until you get back. I love you, Scarfy.
"Love you too, mom." He hung up and put the phone in his pocket before yawning loudly and heading off to the kitchen. "I'm sure they won't mind if I help myself to something in their pantry," he mumbled drowsily. As soon as he opened the pantry, the first breakfast-related item inside was a super sugary breakfast cereal he had heard of on TV called "Pumpkin Flakes: Chocolate Marshmallow Edition." Who eats that stuff? He shut the pantry and opened up the fridge, finding a carton of eggs. "Well, I guess it'll do," he said. He grabbed the eggs and a few strips of bacon and a bag of shredded cheese and began cooking up an omelet and bacon. He cooked the bacon first and cooked it until the bacon was crispy and then started cooking the omelet. Along with putting the cheese in, he crushed up a few strips of bacon and put that into the omelet as well.
By the time he was finished, a certain pair of Angels walked in with tired looks on their faces. "Good morning, you two," Arryn said passively. "Make us breakfast," the two of them ordered at the same time. "For Angels, you two are incredibly rude. You could say please," Arryn grumbled. "What do you want to eat?"
"I want what you're having, baby," Panty said with a smile. "Why are you doing that, Panty? You know you'll never have sex with me." Arryn got to work making Panty's omelet.
"Hey, I ain't giving up!" Stocking walked across the kitchen and pulled the Pumpkin Flakes: Chocolate Marshmallow Edition cereal box and poured herself a bowl, pouring cold milk into the bowl and seating herself at the dining room table.
"Good morning to you too, Stocking," Arryn mumbled. He finished the omelet and set it down at the dining room table. Panty seated herself and pulled out a bottle of Volcanic Hot Sauce and poured it onto the omelet a few times before digging in.
"Hey, the omelet's pretty good, Scarf," the blonde Angel complimented. "Thanks, Panty, I'm glad you like it."
Chuck the green dog…thing….came into the dining room and ate Stocking's breakfast without remorse. Until, that is, that Arryn nailed it to a wall on the opposite side of the room with his scarf in the form of a dagger. His actions made Panty and Stocking raise a brow. "How'd you know that Chuck was immortal?"
Arryn dragged the dagger up Chuck's body and cut him almost entirely in half before wiping the blade and turning it back into a scarf. "I didn't," he answered as he watched Chuck's two halves rejoin.
"I'll get you another bowl of cereal, Stocking." Arryn fixed her another bowl of cereal and then finished his own breakfast. "Alright, I'm out of here," he announced. "Hey, where are you going?"
"Home."
His phone rang and he checked it to find a text message. It read "Stay!"
"What the hell?" He texted back, "Why are you telling me to stay?"
It didn't take long for the response. "You going to question what God wants?"
Arryn groaned and slid the phone back into his pocket before turning back to the Anarchy Sisters. "Apparently God wants me to stay here, for some odd reason." Panty grinned and Stocking simply gave a small smirk.
The Halfblood scratched his head as he heard the front doors to the church open. He took a look into the main room and saw a young man with bangs covering the top half of his face and freckles and a weird metal machine hanging like a backpack over his shoulders. "Who are you?"
The boy jumped in surprise and stuttered, "M-My name's Brief. Is…um…Panty and Stocking here?" Arryn nodded and pointed back into the dining room. Brief thanked him and headed in. "Oi, Geek Boy, what are you doing here?" Panty asked. "I, uh, just wanted to hang out, if that's alright."
Both Panty and Stocking looked at Brief with hints of irritation. Arryn looked at Brief and noticed that the boy's gaze was pointed towards the floor, as if he regretted asking.
"It's fine if you hang out, Brief. We weren't doing anything anyways," Arryn said, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. Panty looked at Arryn with disbelief and he simply answered her expression with a look of disapproval.
"Whatever, it's fine if you hang around," the blonde said. "R-Really?"
"Hey, Brief, do you want anything to eat? You came to visit at such an early hour that it's still breakfast time. I could make you an omelet."
"No, that's alright." Arryn offered him a bright smile and replied, "I insist." He got to work and made the boy an omelet and handed him the plate the food was placed on. "S-So, who are you anyway?"
"Oh right, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Arryn Enju. You can call me Scarf, if you want, though. It's a pleasure to meet you, Brief." Brief nodded. "Likewise." He ate his omelet with a small smile. "So how do you know Brief, Panty and Stocking?" the Halfblood asked.
"We met him in Daten City High while we were searching for a Ghost that was in the school," Stocking explained. "He told us he could help us search for the Ghost."
"Yeah, but then he turned out to be a complete waste of time," Panty added with a full mouth. "He hardly did anything to help. He just keeps getting into trouble when he tries to help."
He narrowed his eyes at Panty when he realized how much her words were hurting the poor boy. "Better than no help at all. What do the people you're trying to help USUALLY do, Panty? Do they try to help?"
"No, but-"
"No buts! Stocking said that Brief offered to try and help you and he put himself in danger doing so. Being around you two has proven to be dangerous and he knows it, yet he still visits you. Despite how useless he may be to you or how much danger he gets himself in, he still wants to help in whatever way he can, which is much more than the people you fuck does for you when you're fighting Ghosts, Panty."
"Why are you lecturing me?"
"I don't know, maybe it pisses me off to see you disrespect people who want to help." Chuck came up onto the table and farted and Arryn stabbed him in the head with a kitchen knife and pinned him to the table. "Calm down, Arryn," Stocking said. "Yeah, it's fine. I don't mind it, really," Brief said. "Brief, why on Earth would you-" he began before stopping and looking between Panty and Brief. "Ah, I see, I see. Panty, Stocking, I'm heading out to the bookstore. I'll be back."
"Wait, what about God's order?" Stocking asked.
Arryn thought for a moment and grinned. "Well, all God texted was 'Stay', and that could be interpreted a number of ways. He could have asked me to just stay with the two of you. If that's the case, I'll just have to take one of you along."
Stocking sighed and got up and volunteered to go with him. "You'd better buy me something sweet," she said. "Sure, that's fine." After Stocking and Arryn left the church, Panty scoffed. "Man, who does he think he is? Hey, Geek Boy, we're leaving too." This caught Brief's attention instantly. "R-Really? Why?"
"No real reason," she answered.
With no further answers, Panty exited the church and Brief quickly followed. Gemini was missing. "They took the motorcycle, huh?" She hopped into the driver's seat of See Through and Brief climbed into the passenger seat. She drove the car out into the city.
Elsewhere…
Scanty and Kneesocks strolled through Daten City with sour expressions on their faces. "We got in trouble with Corset again," Scanty mumbled. "All because of that scarf-wearing menace," Kneesocks added. "Not to mention those damn Angels as well."
The Demon Sisters were clearly irked over their recent defeat. However, they were focusing, currently, on a little bit of shopping. Most of it was already completed, despite the early hour. They always liked to have things done early to make way for their assignments later. Just another rule of theirs.
They were on their way to their final stop, the bookstore. "You're looking for a book titled 'Trial of the Reject', correct, dear sister?" Scanty asked for verification. Kneesocks nodded her head as the bookstore came into view.
Inside the Bookstore…
Arryn and Stocking were already there were browsing through the shelves. "So, Arryn, what book are you looking for?" Stocking asked. "It's called 'Trial of the Reject'. The lady at the counter told me there's only one copy left in the store. I need to find it." The gothic Angel asked, "Have any idea what it's about?"
"Yes, but I won't tell you. You'll just have to read it for yourself," he answered.
At the store entrance, the Demon Sisters entered and Kneesocks asked the lady at the counter if they had a copy of 'Trial of the Reject' and she told them they had one copy left. "You'd best hurry if you want it, though, there's a customer that's already looking for it." Filled with an urgent desire to beat whoever was looking for it to the punch, Kneesocks dashed through the bookstore searching for the book.
Eventually, the book came into sight and she felt her spirits lift. However, the moment she grabbed the book by the spine, Arryn grabbed the book by the opposite end.
Arryn and Stocking reunited with the Demon Sisters quite quickly. Stocking and the Demon Sisters appeared irritated, but Arryn smiled casually at the Demon Sisters as if nothing had happened the day before. "Hello. I didn't expect to see you two again so soon."
Author's Note:
Hey guys. This chapter was written pretty quickly, unlike the others. I was surprised that I was able to do it so fast. I think it might be because there was a distinct lack of a fight scene in this one. I was never really good at writing for action scenes, so I imagine the reason for this chapter's quick writing was due to that reason.
Also, quick note, Arryn's irritation towards Panty's treatment of Brief represents how I usually felt during most of Brief's appearances in the show, as most of those occurrences were accompanied by Panty mistreating the boy who loves her so much. It always irritated me how Brief's desire to help was never appreciated one bit.
Anyways, thanks for reading. Comment and tell me your opinion on the story and I'll be sure to send you my response as soon as possible.
