Beast Boy ran out to the hallway, and turned right, then left, and then he ran straight into a blue cloaked girl in the middle of the walk way. Raven stood in the hall, looking tired and disheveled, and she growled at Beast Boy when he ran into her from behind. But even after this, things weren't going to be weird between them. Beast Boy wouldn't let things be weird.
"Come on Rae!" He said while passing her, turning the slightest to make sure she was coming. She looked a little surprised, but then the corners of her mouth went up in the slightest, barely noticeable. She pulled her hood down over her eyes more, and delicately flew into the air. Beast Boy was suddenly shocked at the somewhat playful look Raven had on her face, though he kept on semi-running while looking at her.
She suddenly zoomed passed him, knocking him off his feet. "Hey, not cool!" She stopped quickly at the end of the hall to give a small smile, like she was saying 'gotcha back'. Just before she flew off again, Beast Boy laughed, and turned into a Peregrine Falcon, the fastest on earth. He hurled into the air, aiming straight for Raven.
She jumped a little, and without expression, flew straight down the next hall. He followed her, turning sharp corners like crazy. They were almost to the meeting room when Beast Boy unexpectedly caught up to her from behind and grabbed the top of her hood, bringing it forward over her eyes. He squawked in laughter while racing ahead of her. Raven was not smiling anymore while she fought to get her hood out of her eyes. When she did, she saw the meeting room doors just 20 feet away. Fifteen feet. Ten. Beast Boy turned in midflight to squawk back at her, not looking where he was going. She smiled at him.
'Why is she smiling like that? I'm the one winni-' Beast Boy let out one last squawk before slamming into the metal doors of the meeting room. He immediately shifted into his original human form. "Ughh…"
Raven stopped and floated to the floor with the smallest smile on her face. She tried to keep a straight face while stepping right next to him and walking through the door that slid open with that famous black entity.
Beast Boy wasn't sure why he did it. Most likely in the heat of the game, he kind of lost it and just wanted to win. He wanted to get in the meeting room first. Just as Raven began to walk in, he grabbed her ankle tried to pull it out from under her. She suddenly turned, falling backwards and landing on top of Beast Boy in an attempt to steady herself. There they were for just a second. Face to face once again.
Raven's hand was pressing against Beast Boy's chest, her other on the floor. Beast Boy had tried to grab her before she fell, and had the side of her waist in his one hand. Beast Boy's other hand was against Raven's back, holding her to his chest. Raven looked shocked, and no one could say that Beast Boy didn't look the same.
"…Hey Raven." Beast boy said, still holding her to him. "…Yeah…" Raven whispered. "When we were in the hall earlier-" Beast Boy was cut short by a whistling man-computer coming down the hall. Raven pushed off of Beast Boy while he got off the ground. At the last second, they were off the floor when Cyborg turned the corner.
"Beast Boy decided to finish the game he had started with Raven. He dizzily shifted into a mouse, and ran past her feet and into the middle of the room, where he shape shifted back into himself. "I win! Oh yeah, it's my birthday! It's my birthday!" He yelled noisily as he did the running man in the middle of the meeting room.
"It's my bir-" "Don't get used to it. Birthdays only come once a year." Raven said, going to sit on the couch. "Hehe…" Beast Boy laughed nervously scratching the back of his head. "But you have to admit, that was pretty awesome." He smiled.
"Like I said, don't get used to it." Raven said. She didn't seem as angry as usual. In fact the look on her face was a bit… playful. It was so unusual for Raven, but Beast Boy's breath caught in his throat at the sight of her. Were they feeling the same things? He wasn't sure...
"Oh, are we to celebrate the time of birth!?" Starfire screeched happily, flying into the meeting room. "No, Star, it's one of those 'figure of speech' things." Beast boy laughed. Starfire seemed disappointed and went over to sit on one side of Raven.
Subconsciously, Beast Boy went over to Raven and plopped down on the couch right next to her. She lifted a questioning eyebrow at him, and he remembered that she might be uncomfortable being so close to him. He gave a little apologetic look, and then scooted away.
Beast Boy saw Ravens head go down a little bit, and her face looked slightly red. Her hair hung in her face muffling the quiet words she said next, "You didn't have to move over." Beast Boy's eyes widened and his face turned deep crimson. "Oh, okay." He said, trying to get his heart rate under control. He slid closer to her, with their thighs barely touching. He could hear Robin running down the hall to the meeting room.
Robin burst into the room and ran to the super computer they had in the meeting room. Beast Boy saw Cyborg glance over at him sitting next to Raven, look between both of them, and then he gave Beast Boy a curious look. Beast Boy shrugged, knowing his face was burning red and looked over to Robin who was messing with the computer and coordinates, while Cyborg's stare burnt through the side of his head.
-
The blush on Ravens face was evident. What was she doing, telling Beast Boy to scoot closer to her? What did that accomplish for her? And why did she have the feeling the green boy next to her was just as red as she was about it?! Quickly, Raven took a glance. Big mistake.
Their eyes met, and Raven felt Beast Boy's thigh snuggle closer to hers.
Something behind Raven flew into a wall. Her eyes went wide and she immediately broke the stare. "Raven! Why are you just throwin' things!? You almost took out my x-box!" Cyborg cried, running to the back of the room where a chair had been thrown toward the fragile didn't say a word, but instead her blush increased and she lowered her eyes to the ground in shame. Raven looked beside her to see that, suddenly, Beast Boy was not so happy.
"Cyborg, how many times have we told you to put your x-box in YOUR ROOM!" Beast Boy burst out. "What do you mean 'we told you'?! You're the one who's always playin' it!" Cyborg retorted.
"We don't have time for this! We need to be across town ASAP!" Robin yelled his orders, and everyone rushed into action. Raven, of course was already ready to go. But suddenly Beast Boy tapped her on the shoulder.
