It had been 3 months since Jack and Jane were wedded. They moved into Jane's home and fixed it up just enough for a wedded couple just starting out. One morning, Jane woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and the sunlight hitting the window. Jane turned on her side and shook Jack awake. "Time to get up love." Jane said, shaking Jack some more. "Shame. I could just lay here and look at your beauty forever." Jack murmured sleepily, caressing Jane's cheek.
"None of that. You have a job interview, remember?" Jane reminded, resting a hand on Jack'e chest.
"Not before I make you breakfast." Jack said, kissing Jane.
"Very well. Some eggs and bacon sounds lovely." Jane said, throwing off the covers. As Jane sat up, she suddenly gasped and held her head. "What is it?" Jack asked, sitting up at her side, looking concerned. "My head is just spinning like a top is all. It'll go away though." Jane assured. "Are you sure you don't need to see the doctor?" Jack asked, still worried. "Trust me, Jack, I'm fine. Let's go eat." Jane said, getting out of bed. But the moment Jane stood up, she felt the wave of nausea again and felt bile rising into her throat. She hurried into the bathroom and closed the door behind her but Jack opened it up and found his wife hovering over the small toilet vomiting. After she was done, Jane wiped her mouth and then faced Jack. "Breakfast can wait. You are going to see the doctor." Jack insisted. "Jack, it's nothing. It's just a dizzy spell." "Let the doctor be the judge of that, my love. Come on, let's get your coat and I'll take you." Later, Jack took Jane to the doctor's while he went for his job interview. Jane talked to the doctor and listed all her symptoms and after an examination, the doctor returned to Jane with a chart. "Congratulations, Mrs. Banks, you are pregnant." He announced. Jane could hardly believe it as her eyes welled up with tears of happiness. "Are you sure?"
"You are 2 months along, it seems." "Oh, thank you, thank you." Jane couldn't wait to tell Jack. She knew he was going to be twice as happy as she was. They always wanted a child for the past month and now it was finally happening. The doctor escorted Jane out of the office where Jack was waiting. "Is she alright, doctor?" Jack asked, after kissing Jane on the forehead.
"She is fine, Jack, you just take good care of her." The doctor replied. "That I will, sir." Once the doctor returned back into his office, Jack turned to Jane. "Anything?"
"It's a surprise. I'll tell you at home." Jack and Jane went back home. After Jack closed the door, Jane grabbed his hand. "Why don't we go to the parlor where I can tell you?" Jane led Jack into the parlor and they both sat down on the sofa. Jane took Jack's hands and faced him. "Jack, I have some important news to tell you about myself."
"You're not sick, are you?" Jack asked, worriedly.
"No. No. Nothing like that. It's just well let's just say our home is going to be a little bit bigger from now on."
Jack still didn't understand till Jane grabbed his hand and placed it on her belly. Jack looked at her belly then at her.
"You mean we're-"
Jane nodded. Jack lifted Jane off the ground and twirled her around making her giggle. "Jack, dear, put me down."
"Oh, right. I'm sorry."
Jack looked down at Jane's belly then touched Jane's face.
"A baby. Our dream is coming true."
"Our dream."
The two shared a kiss with Jack's hand resting against Jane's belly.
