Let the new chapters take flight.
Flight Three: Innocenceā¦.
Yuna and Kanda walked across the courtyard and into the building in silence. Kanda tried his best to ignore the girl but found it difficult since Yuna kept looking him over.
"Mind telling me what you're doing?" Kanda asked as he stopped in his tracks and looked toward Yuna.
Yuna also stopped and held her suitcase in front of her. "I'm making sure that you're someone I can trust." she said. "After all, you did just try to attack me with your sword."
"That was because Gatekeeper labeled you as an Akuma." Kanda said, turning fully towards Yuna now. "Besides, I could ask you the same thing."
"Ask me what?" Yuna asked, tilting her head a bit.
"About whether I can trust you or not." Kanda said. "From my standpoint, you're the one that's suspicious."
"I never said that I thought you were suspicious." Yuna said. "All I said was that I was wondering if I could trust you or not."
"That's basically saying that you think I'm the suspicious one." Kanda said. "And why am I even talking to you about all of this?"
"Because maybe you think you can really trust me?" Yuna said, giving Kanda a small smile.
"When Moyashi gets taller," Kanda said, clicking his tongue.
He then turned back around and continued on his way. Yuna tried to follow him.
"Please wait!" she said but was stopped by someone putting their hand on her shoulder.
"I wouldn't worry about him too much," Lenalee said as Yuna turned to look at her. "He prefers to be alone and really doesn't like it when people follow him."
"Oh," Yuna said, looking towards where Kanda disappeared in before looking at Lenalee. "Well, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. My name is Yuna Koumori. What's yours?"
"I'm Lenalee. It's nice to meet you too, Yuna." Lenalee said with a smile as she held her clipboard close to her chest. "So, shall I give you a tour of the place?"
"If it's not too much trouble," Yuna said a bit sheepishly.
"Not at all," Lenalee said, turning and walking down a direction. "If you'll just follow me."
"Alright," Yuna said as she followed after Lenalee.
"What's this corridor for?" Yuna asked as she pointed to a somewhat dark and scary looking corridor.
"I'll let my brother answer that," Lenalee said as she kept on walking.
Yuna blinked to this before following after her.
"Where is your brother anyway?" Yuna asked.
"You'll see him in a bit," Lenalee said as she turned a corner and stopped.
"Really?" Yuna asked, turning the corner as well before having a hand be held out to her.
"Hello, I am Komui Lee. Chief of the Science Division." Komui said with a smile, his mug in hand.
"Speaking of the devil." Lenalee said.
"It's very nice to meet you," Yuna said as she took Komui's hand and shook it.
"On behalf of the staff, I'd like to welcome you." Komui said as he turned around and lead Lenalee and Yuna down a flight of stairs. "And sorry about the trouble earlier, what a pain it must have been."
"Again, don't look at us!" most of the department exclaimed.
"No, it was quite alright." Yuna said with a smile.
"My, aren't you a sweet girl." Koumi said as he walked into a room and turned on the light, revealing it to be an examination room of sorts. "Now, if you would be so kind as to come over here and show me your Innocence."
"Huh?" Yuna said, blinking a few times before looking towards Komui.
"It's standard procedure to see all of the newcomer's Innocence around here." Komui said as he took a sip of his coffee. "So could you please show me your Innocence?"
"Well, if it's a ruleā¦." Yuna said, sounding unsure of the situation.
She put down her suitcase and took off her trench coat, revealing a black tank top underneath. She then set her coat on top of her suitcase and went over to where Komui was. She stood in front of him and turned around to reveal a pair of black bat wing tattoos with a cross in the middle. She then covered her ears and let out a breath.
"Innocence, activate." she said.
Within the next moment, the wing tattoos became real and burst out of her back, making her hunch over a little. Komui and Lenalee watched this in awe as Yuna regained her posture.
"My, my, never would have expected this." Komui said. "It seems you're a parasitic type."
"Isn't that the type where the Innocence is a part of you?" Yuna asked, somewhat yelling.
"That's correct," Komui said as he looked over the newly formed wings. "And you don't have to shout, Yuna. I can hear you just fine."
"Sorry about that," Yuna said, "but Master Cross told me to have my ears covered whenever I have my Innocence activated."
"Really? Why?" Lenalee asked.
"He says it would be bad for everyone within the area if I didn't cover them." Yuna said with a smile. "To be honest, I don't know what he means by that."
"Well, I'm sure he has a reason for ordering you to do that." Komui said as he put his mug down and went over to a table.
"I'm sure he does too," Yuna said, looking over at Komui before paling at what she saw.
"Now," Komui said as he pulled out his "examination" tools, "let's see if we can find that reason, shall we? Lenalee, will you get the anesthesia?"
"W-w-what's that for?" Yuna asked, shaking a bit in fear of what was going to happen next.
"Don't worry, this is standard procedure as well." Komui said with a somewhat evil looking smile. "Now hold still."
A small whimper escaped Yuna's lips as Komui drew closer to her and her Innocence.
"Somebody save me!"
And...another one becomes afraid of showing their broken Innocence to Komui.
