*Editing in Maths* Hi. This is the last chapter yeah. I kinda just slapped this on here. Fish just couldn't post it up, her life is tooooo busy now! Hopefully she can keep beta reading my work...Oh well, enjoy!

Okay. So he really didn't expect to be hit by lightning. But he was anyway. And he didn't expect to be hit by lightning and lose his staff. But it happened anyway.

All the way down he keeps cursing the rhyme that pops into his mind. 'Jack be nimble, Jack be quick'. And to all irony Jack thought over the last line as he came past a burning tree; the spirit likes the idea of jumping over a candle-stick instead of shooting over a burning tree without the wind to aid his landing any day (even if jumping over candle-sticks sounded pointless in every way).

The fire that Jack always strictly avoids, though just speeding past it, he could feel himself melting from the burning heat. The guardian turns around just to catch a glimpse of the stormy, almost black sea below him. Jack opens his mouth to let out a cry, only to be cut off as the water below engulfs him.

Not good. Not good! Why is Jack's staff here and not with Jack, where ever the winter spirit was. Tooth hugs the wooden staff tightly while fluttering around. Her feathers ruffle as lightning and thunder, crack and rumble. "Jack!" she squeaks, "Jack! Where are you!?"

The Queen flies towards a burning forest, frantically looking around, hoping he wasn't trapped in there. "Jack?" she calls again zipping around in distraught. Toothiana groans in frustration then freezes as she hears a cry for help.

Her wings buzz faster than ever as they carry her towards the noise. She spots white hair and doesn't think twice when she sees him going under. Diving after him, she immediately freezes, the water is freezing! She looks around to find Jack; she spots his white hair once more and descends into the icy depths.

The boy seems to be unconscious. The thought drives Tooth to swim faster. Her small hands reach out to Jack, she grabs hold of his hood and tugs on it...Her strength fails her, but she tries again. Her need for oxygen grows but she can't give up, she needs Jack to reach the surface as well.

With a sharp pull, she raises herself and the boy slightly. Toothiana's eye sight slowly became fuzzier. She couldn't breathe! Her slowly dulling eyes move towards the surface of the water, and then begin close...

The last thing she felt was the fabric of Jack's hood slip from her fingers.

Beep.

Beep

Beep

Jack groans as he opens his eyes then instantly regrets the decision and snaps them shut. Soft beeping can be heard, it's slow pattern is oddly soothing to the teen, though the smell of where ever he is, smells very sterile...Where is he anyway? He thinks and settles, thinking quite calmly that he died and went to heaven. He shifts slightly then an alarm went off over the calm beeping. His brows furrow when he hears a door to his right (or was that his left?) slam open.

"Jack!"

A thick accent reaches his ears, North? Did he die too? How long was I out for?

"Jack, you are awake!" The Russian man cheers. Jack pulls the covers up, trying to drown (nice choice of words aye?) out the noise. North laughs, "Okay, I get idea. I will be back with others and food." Jack flinches. Is it possible the man could close doors without slamming them? He smirks at his thoughts.

A few minutes pass, Jack sighs and continues to listen to the soft beeps.

Beep-Beep

Beep

Beep-Beep

Beep

The teen raises a brow when another set of beeping joins. A strange wave of relief washes over him for some odd reason. These new beeps were loud and quick paced, it's strange, and they still soothed him nonetheless.

Jack raises a brow when he hears a soft mumble. He strains his ear to hear if anything else is said...But after a few minutes his ears catch nothing. Huffing, he decides to open his eyes again; he needs to open them sometime today.

He opens the right eye after the left one and scans the room silently. He takes in the white walls and floors. Blue travels towards the beeping sounds, then towards the wire and clip attached on his numb middle finger on his left hand. Jack blinks and stares at everything for a few minutes, then reacts, violently. He jerks his body to the opposite side of the bed, almost falling to the ground. He pulls the wire attached to the heart monitor by the clip attached to his finger, jolting it forward slightly. The bed rattles in protest as he thrashes, he was panicking. His wild eyes flicker across the room, then freeze.

He looks upon a curled up Toothiana on the bed not too far from his. She's under three, maybe four blankets, her face smothering in the large pillow. Jack raises a brow in slight confusion and then trails his eyes to the machine, similar to his, next to her bed. Her heart rate was way faster than his, which was normal. Relief washes over him once more as he falls back, after propping his own large pillow against the bed frame.

"...Jack"

The winter spirit flinches then glances across the room back at Toothiana. He almost falls off the bed when his eyes met with vibrant violet. "Tooth"

She closes her eyes and curls up more. "Shh, I don't want North to come back in here..." Tooth whispers, pushing half of her face in the pillow. Jack only nods and swallow loudly. After a few minutes of silence, Toothiana opens her eyes once more and stares at Jack, who was now looking around the room in boredom. She clears her throat then looks down at her hands in front of her face. She blinks her bright irises twice, and then shoots up with a yelp.

"W-what's wrong!?" Jack snaps his head at Tooth with a worried expression. He watches her toss the covers in a swift motion then search with frantic eyes.

"The-the Tooth!" she squeaks.

Jack opens then closes his mouth. He thought something was wrong, like seriously wrong. A missing tooth could be found...right? Toothiana rips her covers off and pushes off the large pillows. She lets out a loud exhausted noise as she found the tiny tooth resting on her bed. She clutches it to her chest and closed her eyes, "Thank goodness..."

"I bring food!" North booms as he slams the door open. Tooth almost falls forward and Jack almost falls off the bed. "Ah Toothie, you are awake!"

The Fairy grumbles, "Would be either way..." Jack snickers at the girl.

North laughs then sets a plate of food down on Jack's bedside table. "North..." The man turns and looks down at Tooth with a raised brow.

"Yes?"

Toothiana purses her lips, and then picks up her pillows. She adjusts them then looks back at North, "...What happened?"

"You gave us heart-attack," Father Christmas speaks, his stern voice makes Jack bite his lip. "Toothiana...Jack," He sits on the Fairy's bed, next to her, "We thought we lost both of you..." North sighs, his eyes lower to the ground in sorrow, "I will tell more details later, at dinner we will have with others!" He grunts out as he shifts off the bed then leaves, before Jack can ask why not tell them now, leaving the two teens in an odd and uncomfortable silence...

"...Jack?"

The teen looks at the Fairy and blinks at her, "Yeah?" he asks. Toothiana goes to speak but then stops herself and shakes her head, making Jack even more curious.

"Never mind, don't worry about it." But Jack did.

...

"I guess I owe everyone an apology?"

"Ya think?"

"Bunny."

Toothiana smoothes her feathers and lowers her gaze, only to snap them back up, towards Jack. "I should say sorry too..." The boy muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. The Fairy was about to decline his need to, but North cut her off.

"Both of you do not need to say nothing," Jack straightens up and looks at North with a risen brow. Toothiana keeps her gaze on Jack, studying silently. "Jack, Tooth. You both have a lesson to learn."

"And that is?" Jack asks timidly. Toothiana looks down then at North, awaiting his answer, and the Guardians of Fun and Memories both hoped that the elder would answer.

With a sigh and a rub of his forehead, then man spoke. "You both need to learn how to rely on others."

Toothiana's mind twists and turns as she remembered what the small boy from before said to her, it made her burst out for no apparent reason, scaring the others at the table. "You guys should help me!"

Jack's eyes snap at Tooth, his eyes wide. "What?" The boy squeaks out for the rest of the men.

The Queen blinks then slouches in her chair, shyly picking at her feathers, "You guys should help me collect teeth the next time a storm hits...You know, so we don't have to worry..." She mutters, slightly embarrassed by her actions earlier.

"We?" Bunnymund smirks at the Queen, making her blush and smooth her feathers down.

"Hey! I worry too..." She lowers her voice and sits back, acting shy once more.

"So what made you think this was a good idea?" Jack asks.

Tooth looks at Jack then to the others, "Jack gave me the idea."

The teen rose a brow, his eyes gazing, calculating when he had said such a-"Not our Jack, another Jack..." The Queen corrected herself.

Bunny snorted, "Now it makes sense." Jack glared at the Pooka who was smirking at him.

North let out a laugh and nodded enthusiastically. "Da! It is settled then!" The Guardians all gave the old man questioning looks as he continued, "The next time there is storm, we help collect the teeth," He gave Tooth and Jack both stern gazes. "And no more of this near death things."

It made the two nod, getting North's message crystal clear.

...

Jack didn't mean to do it...

Okay that was a lie. He kind of, maybe, possibly made a snow storm in his town on purpose...But that was so he could talk to her!

The winter teen sat next to the silent Queen sheepishly. He thought it'd be easy to talk to her, seeing as he had two weeks to think of a few questions about the night of the storm...But no. Jack drew a massive blank when he and the Queen sought refuge in a small cave Jack used to sleep in, though it's not like he would ever tell her that.

"Are you sure you can't stop this?" Toothiana smoothed her feathers down as the wind lightly blew inside the shelter, ruffling her plumage.

Jack felt bad for lying, telling Tooth that the storm was created by Mother Nature, which meant he wasn't able to change it. The teen shook his head and ruffled his hair, trying to think of what to say or ask.

Toothiana glanced at Jack, watching him act like a fish out of water. The teen's actions made her furrow her feathered brows...Was he ill? Did something catch his tongue? She studied him with a hard gaze then snapped her head back to staring at the mouth of the cave instead of the one beside her.

Jack looked at her having felt eyes on him. He pursed his lips then opened them again...He must look like a fish out of water. The teen readjusted his kneeling position and sat cross-legged, balancing his staff on his legs. Biting his tongue, Jack spoke up, "That was some night huh?" and he almost slapped himself for the choice in conversation starters.

The Queen's feathers bristled then she simply nodded, not really wanting to talk about it, but Jack did, so he kept going. "I think I'll give my dive a four out ten, I did pretty good if I say so myself, cos I hardly dive and the last time I did-"

"I get, Jack" Tooth grumbled, making the teen blink at her. She gazed up at him and furrowed her feather brows. "I know that I messed up, so go on and rub it in my face!" She stood up while she spoke, "I don't even care if you tell everyone! That a Guardian, protector of all children nearly drowned one because of her stubbornness!"

Toothiana stormed off deeper into the cave, leaving Jack dumbfounded...What just happened?

The teen rubbed his face and looked outside of the cave, trying to sort out his thoughts of what he did wrong. He bit the inside of his cheek then stood up and turned, following the Queen deeper into their shelter.

What he found made him hesitant in his steps.

Toothiana sat cross-legged, facing the wall. The teen didn't know whether or not to go up and apologise or sit quietly next to her...

He did both.

Jack sat down, crossed legged, behind her. He faced the mouth of the cave once more and sighed, careful not to touch her feathered back with his own clothed one. "Sorry..."

"Stop stealing my lines Jack. I'm the one who should be apologising"

Jack almost turned, but then decided against it. "No, I should be the one. I shouldn't have gone after you like that. I should've put my trust in you like you put yours in me last Easter..." He lowered his head and gripped onto his staff. "I'm sorry..."

After a small sigh from the Queen, he couldn't help but smile at what she said next. "...I'll accept your apology when you've accepted mine."

"Then I guess we won't be on good terms for a while..."

"And why not?"

Jack scooted next to Tooth, resting his back against the cave wall and smiled at her. "Because I was thinking the same thing."

And the Queen only laughed.
