Sorry for the late update everybuggy! I've more been in a drawing mood lately :D
I started using this new shading technique thing when I draw my turtles (specifically Donnie) and just haven't been into writing much :/
I apologise and I shall try to work harder :P
WARNING: TCEST! Don't like it? DONT READ IT!
DISCLAIMER: I do no own the turtles. If I did, there would be so much more Donnie
Every time his foot touched the ground, the sound of leaves, wrappers and other types of waste crinkling followed. Judging by the slightly cold bite from the wind and the leaves scattered along the ground, it was mid autumn. Donatello hadn't been to the surface in months. Shell, he didn't even know what month it actually was! The only thing he had been occupied with was watching over his father as the colder weather threatened to break through his immune system.
It was always the cold that brought out the worst health in his father. His older, frail body just wasn't able to cope with the harsher living conditions that winter provided them, and with that steadily approaching, Don was sure that his father would fall ill once again. It got worse every year, and he could visibly see the worry and stress this brought to his brothers.
None of them knew what to do in order to help their sick father. That was one of the many things Don hated about his decision, he couldn't relieve their worries... He could sneak into the lair and secretly put in some books based on illnesses for his brothers to read, or place the proper medications for his father in with the rest of the stash...But anything beyond that was out of his capability. He just couldn't be around them...
The last three years had done nothing to alleviate the stabbing pain in his heart, in fact, the distance from the family and friends that used to make life worth living made it that horrid pain grow. Grow until it consumed his entire body, making everything around him a dull shade of grey... If it wasn't for the fear of the future, Don would have already ended it... But because of what he'd seen in that future... He simply couldn't...
heh... He couldn't leave them... But he couldn't be near them either... Not even when they needed him...
How selfish was that?...
Donatello angrily shook his head, clearing it of those morbid thoughts. There was no point in dwelling on something he couldn't change. Instead he should be worrying about finding the proper equipment for the newest security update. His old lair's security had been starting to dwindle and with the foot clan's activity still at large, he couldn't risk them going after his family once again...
His once bright chocolate, but now dull and lifeless coffee, brown eyes roamed the area, careful to watch out for any wiring and/or somewhat intact computers. He needed some new motherboards so that he could recreate one to specifically fit the needs of the security system. Finally, he caught sight of a slightly banged up laptop thrown in a large pile of game consoles.
With a small smile for the little victory, Donnie made his way over to it, his stride purposeful and precise. He just wanted to grab the thing and leave. Something just didn't seem right... It was like someone was-
"You should have seen your face! It looked like you just walked in on the shredder wearing thong! It was soooooooo funny!"
The sound of his youngest brother's voice rang through the once silent night in the junkyard, filling the purple loving terrapin with dread. No... There was no way that they could have know that he was going to be here... They hadn't even said anything about coming out to the junkyard in the first damn place! This couldn't be happening!
Just before his brothers could walk around the corner and see him, Donnie darted behind one of the smaller junk piles, crouching low as he struggled to control his ragged breathing. He needed to stay silent, so that they wouldn't notice his presence.
Over the past few years, Donnie had gotten a lot better at his stealth skills, since he had to sneak into his old lair on multiple occasions to help out his family. But while he was confident that his skills could surpass them most of the time, he had a feeling that his oldest brother, the most serious of them all, would notice something. Leo always seemed to be paranoid when it came to the surface world. It was the one thing he could always count on when it came to the blue branded terrapin.
"Seriously Mikey? Uhhhg, now I have that image in my head." He heard Leo complain, a hint of amusement tainting his voice. His smooth... Deep... Loving voice...
"Dun' worry 'bout it Leo. I got 'im" Raph's deep, slightly rough voice flowed through the air like wind, accompanied by the sound of a hand hitting flesh.
"Owwwwwww!" Mikey's childish and playful tone brightened up everything, taking a bit of the grey from his vision. The sound of his whine just made Donnie want to hold him close until that pout became a loving smile... But he couldn't... Not now... Not ever...
Tears prickled his eyes as he tried so desperately to keep that emotionless wall up, trying to tune out the sound of the turtle's laughter... His family's laughter... In a vain attempt to control himself, Don pressed his hand against a sharpened piece of scrap metal, waiting for the sting of the blade sinking into his flesh. The feeling of his own blood flowing out of his body seemed to take the emotions with it... Making him feel lighter... More relaxed.
However, he did not have time to contemplate why he was feeling like that, when a sense of dread washed over him. Each of his brothers had been taught to detect the smell of blood, and with Don's blood now spilled, in a few minutes his position would be given away... Shell!
With a deep but silent inhale of breath, Donnie assessed his surroundings. There were enough shadows around him to give him the proper amount of coverage until he could get behind the next pile of junk, from there he could work his way to the exit without being seen. He hoped...
Closing his eyes to regain all of the composer he may have lost, Donatello listened for when his brothers seemed the farthest and the most distracted before easing back into the shadows, his eyes watching for when he could see them. Once the were in his line of sight, Don could then just wait for the right time to move and get out of the mess without any incidences.
There was only one problem with that plan though...
Where the shell was Leo?
Before Donnie could let his coffee brown eyes look for his eldest brother, the bite of cold steel touching the more sensitive flesh of his neck froze him in his tracks. While he had been planning his escape, Leo had already picked up on his presence and gotten Raph and Mikey to distract Donnie with their talking. Why hadn't he thought of that! They had done it so many times with other enemies before! Stupid!
"Stand up slowly, and walk into the light." Leo stern and commanding voice sent shivers down his spine, making his toes curl... Why couldn't he just be normal? Why couldn't he just think of his brothers as brothers?! It was honestly getting ridiculous!
Why couldn't he just have one day of peace? One day!
Well, there ya' go :D
Please review! I would like some feedback :D
