Mornings were Harry's favourite time of day. He wasn't a morning person, really – he would much rather stay in bed till noon than head off to the Ministry at eight o'clock – but that didn't change the fact that mornings were something he looked forward to. Or maybe it wasn't really the mornings. Maybe it was the waking up. Yes, it was definitely the waking up, because waking up meant opening his eyes sleepily and smiling as his gaze fell upon his husband sleeping peacefully next to him. To Harry, one of the most beautiful sights in the world was a quietly dozing Draco, his expression peaceful as he emanated an almost ethereal grace and beauty. Mornings were even better if they included drowsy kisses. The feel of Draco's soft lips moving against Harry's own as they both woke up slowly and gently was often the best part of Harry's already wonderful mornings.

"Dad! Father! I got it I got it I got it I got it!"

The bedroom door burst open unceremoniously and Scorpius James, having freshly turned eleven a few days ago, dashed into the room, tripping slightly over the expensive carpet Draco had insisted on putting in. He was followed closely by Lily Narcissa, who was pouting and running as fast as her little legs could carry her so as to keep up with her big brother.

"It's not fair! It's not fair! Why does he get his first?" she cried.

Draco jerked awake, nearly bashing his head on the metal bedframe. "What in Salazar's name is the matter?" he grumbled.

"I've got my Hogwarts letter!" Scorpius cried, waving an envelope directly in front of Harry's face so quickly that Harry couldn't even make out what was written on it. "I'm going to Hogwarts, just like you!"

"That's wonderful, Scorp," Harry smiled, trying to transfer some semblance of calm to him before he brought the house down. Meanwhile, Lily had jumped onto the bed and landed squarely on Draco's knee. Draco practically howled.

"Lily!" he scolded reproachfully. "Be careful!"

Satisfied with Harry's reaction, Scorpius turned his attention to Draco. "Father, Father, look! I've finally got it!"

"You've known you were going to get it for a decade," Draco sighed, still very much drowsy and therefore still persistently grumpy.

"Oh come on," Harry grinned. "Don't pretend you didn't act like an arrogant, pompous, overly excited brat when you got yours for the first time."

Draco shot him a glare. Harry responded by leaning over to kiss him. Although Draco fought to keep his expression stern, he couldn't hide the fact that the irritation had practically melted right off his face.

"It's no fair!" Lily exclaimed, ignoring the moment her parents were currently sharing. "I want to go too! Why haven't I gotten my letter yet?"

"You'll get yours in three years," Draco assured her.

"Three years?" she wailed. "But that's too long from now!"

"Time will fly by very quickly," Harry replied reassuringly, reaching over pull her into his arms. "Don't you worry. You'll be off before you know it."

Lily sniffled forlornly.

"Don't worry, Lily," Scorpius piped up. "I'll write you every week and tell you everything that's going on. It'll almost be as if you're there, too."

Lily chirped up slightly at that. "Every week?" she asked.

"Every week," Scorpius promised.

Lily looked considerably more cheerful now. She jumped off the bed again. "Race you downstairs! First one down picks the cartoon!" She bolted away, Scorpius rushing after her.

"Cartoons," muttered Draco. "Muggle televisions. Bah."

"Careful," Harry cautioned. "You're starting to sound like an old man."

Draco rolled his eyes, then smirked. "How long do you think they'll be preoccupied?" he asked, a mischievous twinkle in his grey eyes.

Harry chuckled and pulled Draco towards him. "Long enough."

And so Harry resumed his tradition of wonderful mornings.
