The party came to a close with Ricky and Benson leaving to go home. Marx went straight upstairs and into his bedroom, letting Anne and Alyssa do all the cleaning.
Alyssa: "So Marx is just gonna let US do all the cleaning?"
Anne: "I suppose... I think we should just leave him."
Alyssa: "Why, mother?"
Anne: "He did have a strong moment with his friend. It's only fair to let him rest his mind for tonight."
Alyssa: "Oh."
Marx jumped onto his bed and looked at the roof. He began to think about Mayo, and the exam for that academy. He was worrying too much about both, so he stood up and went to the bathroom. As he was going, he seen Will coming up the stairs also heading for the bathroom. The two meet at the bathroom door.
Marx: "Oh, you can go first... I'll wait."
Will went into the bathroom and shut the door behind him in Marx' face. Marx sat by the wall and waited for Will to finish. 4 minutes later, Will came out of the bathroom and saw Marx sitting beside the door.
Marx: "OK, my turn..."
Will: "Hey..."
Marx: "Huh-?"
Will: "Don't think about it too much."
Marx' face opened up as he was watching Will march back downstairs. He knew what Will was talking about and took it in.
Marx in thought: "OK..."
The next morning came by, and Marx didn't go by Mayo's house this time. He didn't feel like it was right to. Every time he felt about her, he'd feel an ache in his heart. It was an annoying pain to him so he tried not to think about her in any way. He and Alyssa left and met up with Benson and Ricky as usual. They got to class and Mrs. Hills took attendance, but Mayo wasn't on time.
Mrs. Hills: "I'll have to check Mayo as tardy again."
Random Boy: "Probably because Marx didn't walk with her today!"
The class began to laugh. Marx didn't react. He was looking straight ahead with a long face. Alyssa began to be concerned about him.
School went by and Marx didn't say anything almost all day. He was in a really bad mood.
Ricky: "Marx... Everything alright?"
Marx: "I dunno..."
Alyssa: "Wanna get something too eat?"
Marx: "Nah."
Benson: "Whoa... Marx doesn't want to eat!? Somethings not right here!"
Ricky: "Meh, just leave him be. It looks like he needs some time to himself."
Ricky was right. Marx wanted to be alone. But suddenly, Marx began to think about what Will told him. It was the first time Will had ever said something to Marx.
Marx: "Guys, it's OK."
Alyssa: "What do you mean?"
Marx: "I'm OK! No need to worry! Besides, I got a lot to look forward too! Like those two guys coming back tomorrow!"
Ricky: "OH YEAH!"
Benson: "Now that will be interesting!"
Alyssa: "I dunno guys... Those two men are really suspicious."
Marx: "Nah, I don't see nothing wrong with them."
Alyssa was still worrying about those two men and how they appeared out of nowhere and how she never heard of the academy before.
The kids reached home and found Anne, Will and another man with them. Marx and Alyssa were surprised to see that it was their grandfather Eziro. Alyssa ran to give him a big hug because they haven't seen him in a long while. Anne told them he moved back into town and he now lived only a few blocks away. Will was displeased with hearing that.
Marx: "Hey, gramps. I gotta ask you something."
Eziro: "What is it squirt."
Marx: "You ever heard of the 'Super Smash Bros Academy'?"
Eziro's face opened. He was surprised to hear that from Marx.
Eziro: "Yes..."
Marx: "GREAT! So you can tell me stuff about it, right?"
Eziro: "Why would you want to know about that place?"
Marx told him that he would soon attend the school. Eziro heard that and began to laugh. Marx never heard him laugh before.
Eziro: "You!? Why you you ever consider yourself going to that school?"
Marx: "Because i'm gonna! And I need to know as much about it as possible."
Eziro: "Boy... You can't possibly enter that school. That place is only for the most elite of fighters. You can't even comprehend the skill gap of the fighters there and yourself."
Eziro let Marx know that it was impossible for him to enter the school on his own. And that's why Will doesn't go well with Eziro; he's a cold man. Not afraid to say anything to anyone if it has to be said.
Marx: "Oh, OK. But then why did those two men come and offer the chance to my class?"
Eziro: "How would I know?"
Marx: "Ugh. Never mind."
Marx went upstairs to his room.
Anne: "Father, you didn't have to be like that toward Marx."
Eziro: "Anne, that boy was talking complete rubbish. He knows nothing about that school and it should stay like that. That academy is a dangerous place, you'd risk your life just going there. That boy can't even fight. He doesn't even know about the use of energy."
Anne: "If that may be, you still didn't have to shut him down like that."
Eziro: "I did what had to be done."
Will: "No. You didn't do anything."
Eziro: "Eh?"
Will didn't say anything more but walk upstairs.
Eziro: "Well that was something else..."
Anne: "What did he mean by that? Was he... Defending Marx?"
Eziro: "Impossible! Your husband hates that boy. And even if he was, why the heck would he?"
Anne: "I... Don't know."
It was late. Alyssa and Anne were asleep and Eziro just left. Marx couldn't sleep. He was thinking about Mayo again.
Marx: "This feeling... What is it. Every time I think about her, I get a aching feeling inside. I hate it..."
Then suddenly, Marx' door slowly opened. Marx turned on his light to see that it was Will standing at his bed. Marx didn't know what to say.
Will: "Put on your tracksuit. And come outside with me."
Marx: "Oh-OK!"
Will: "And be quit."
Marx: "Oh... Sorry."
Marx and Will went outside to their front yard. It was almost midnight and Will was surprised to catch Marx still awake.
Marx: "What are we doing out here this late?"
Will took a seat on the grass.
Will: "Sit down."
Marx: "Huh? Why?"
Will: "Just sit down."
Marx sat down.
Marx: "What do you want exactly?"
Will: "How do you know about the academy?"
Marx: "There are two guys from there who might pick a few of us to see if were eligible to enter."
Will: "You can't possibly make it."
Marx: "Wow, thanks..."
Will: "Because you have no idea what energy use is."
Marx: "Energy? What the heck is that?"
Will: "Exactly."
Marx: "Why, is it important or something?"
Will: "Yes. VERY."
Marx: "OK..."
Will: "Energy is basically our life source. We can use it, and abuse it in many different ways. Now for fighting, it can be used and manipulated to enhance your combat abilities in many different ways.
Marx: "How exactly can you fight with your energy?"
Will: "Simple: you have to just release it."
Marx: "Release it? Like from your body? How!?"
Will: "That's the tricky part. Learning how to use your energy in ways of combat are difficult, and mastering your own energy is even more difficult."
Marx: "But I don't know ANYTHING about energy. Or even my own!"
Will: "I'll show you a few things. For starters, let me show you how to release your energy."
Marx: "OK!"
Will stood up and took a firm stance.
Will: "To release your energy, you first have to learn energy control. To control your energy is another difficult task but i'll show you anyways."
Marx: "Alright!"
Will: "Now, you can release your energy in different ways."
Will released a pinch of his energy from the palm of his hands, and what came out was a small energy sphere. Marx was amazed and could feel it. Will didn't put any effort into it so it felt nice and warm.
Marx: "That. Was. Awesome."
Will: "That was me transmuting my energy into what could be an energy attack. You could use your energy in certain ways only your body can take. Remember that!"
Marx: "Got it. But how does energy help you become stronger?"
Will: "Oh, that. Now all you have to do is focus on releasing your energy from your whole body. Doing that releases your aura around you."
Marx: "What can your aura do?"
Will: "To put it simple, it could boost your physical abilities like your overall strength or agility while released. And in other ways, you can change the limits of your regular body with it with great energy control."
Marx: "Whoa..."
Will finally released his energy to Marx. Will took a deep breath in and slowly out and his aura exploded out of his body, sending Marx flying. Marx caught himself and was amazed by what he just seen.
Marx: "THAT'S SO AWESOME!"
Will: "Remember a few things though: not everybody can use their energy like this. It's extremely difficult. And when using, never unleash all of it at once, it's still your life source your manipulating and too much power your body can handle. The consequences of it are life threatening!"
Marx: "Ohhh..."
Will in thought: "I don't think I should've told him... But if he want's to know everything about energy, he needs to know everything."
Marx: "I think I got it."
Will: "Huh-?"
Marx: "Yeah, just focus on what I have inside me, and release a little bit of it over my body. Right?"
Will: "Uh... Yes? But I did say I it was difficult. You can't possibly release your energy on the get-go. I'ts IMPOSSIBLE!"
As Will finished speaking, Marx crossed his legs, closed his eyes like he was meditating and began to try to get a feel of what energy he could have inside of him. He was struggling and breaking sweats. Will was confused on what he was doing, but suddenly sparks broke across Marx' body, and slowly, a field of energy with little electrical discharges began to rise over Marx and it was clear and visible. Will was speechless. For a second, Marx fully released a pinch of it for a little bit but then it all vanished. Marx was shaken up by the effort he put into letting out his energy. He gave a faint smile right as he collapsed onto the ground, conscious but out of breath.
Will: "How... Did you do that?"
Marx: "What can I say? I guess... I'm a... Fast learner?"
Will: "Incredible. But those electrical discharges. Just what was that?"
Marx: "Wait, that wasn't my energy?"
Will: "I can't say. Maybe it was. But that's different from regular energy. And yours had a different feeling to it too..."
Marx: "Whaddya mean? What kind of feeling?"
Will: "That's the thing... I couldn't feel your energy at ALL."
Marx: "Whoa..."
Will: "Your different."
Marx: "I take it as that's a bad thing?"
Will didn't say anything to that.
Marx: "Man, this was fun. You really stuffed my brain with all that energy stuff."
Will: "You have school in the morning."
Marx: "Oh yeah! I sure am tired from all that!"
Marx ran into house, but stopped and looked back at Will.
Marx: "And um... Thanks."
Will's face opened up.
Will: "Remember, speak of this to no one. Anne and Alyssa especially."
Marx nodded in agreement.
