Meeting

All the guards, besides for the ones holding Inuyasha at bay, knelt down and said; "My queen, we have with us a suspicious looking hanyou who was caught wandering outside the castle."

Kikyou dismissed the demon and turned to face them.

When she saw him, her eyes widened in shock.

"I... Inuyasha?"

She quickly composed herself. "Release him." She said.

"But-" The guard started to protest. She shot him a cold glance.

The guard bowed his head to hide his seething as he gave the command. "Let him go."

Inuyasha felt their arms leave his as the guard from the back undid the chains. It fell to the ground with a loud metallic clank.

"Kikyou..." He began.

She held up her hand to stop him. "Not here. We shall have our conversation elsewhere."

Kikyou stood up and nimbly decended the stairs. She passed Inuyasha without looking at him and motioned for them to follow her.

Needless to say that everyone in the room stared at and started to chatter about them as the guards dragged him out of the room after Kikyou.

They entered a large room that had vast red and gold furnishings occupying every corner. There were large paintings on parallel sides of the walls, right above the fireplace and a large lighting above. In the center of the room were seats and a mahogany table in the middle.

Kikyou asked him to sit on one of the chairs while she sat on the one opposite to him.

The guards were opposed to her request that they leave the two of them alone, but had to comply since the queen's orders were to be obeyed no matter how absurd they may be.

Once the guards left the room, an awkward silence fell between them.

"Inuyasha," Kikyou spoke first, she had her hands on her lap and was completely composed. "Why have you come here?"

Inuyasha crossed his arms. He didn't know how to speak to her. Part of him felt repulsed while the other just wanted to hold her.

"I need you're help." He grinded his teeth. Inuyasha didn't want to breach the subject that he wanted most to ask compared to the others disappearances. They both knew it was better to stay in a safer territory.

"I presume that the situation is serious then." She nodded, leaving the words 'You're companions are not with you, so something bad must have happened, enough for you to risk going here' hanging in the air.

Inuyasha fisted his hands. "The other's were taken."

"Taken?" She didn't sound the least bit surprised and that irked him. "To where? And by whom?"

"A demon." He answered.

"Ah, I see." She nodded. "And that demon is...?"

"I don't know!" Inuyasha slammed his fist on the table. "If I'd known I wouldn't be here!"

"Calm down, Inuyasha." Kikyou said in a firm and stoic tone. "I understand that the situation is... dire. However I cannot provide any assistance without any information."

"That's also why I'm here, to get information." Inuyasha retorted.

"From me?" She sounded somewhat surprised, then hesitantly added; "... or from Sesshomaru?"

It felt like she dropped a bomb. Inuyasha winced, but tried not to lose his temper. Kagome and the others were more important.

He was about to answer when he felt a static pain at the side of his neck. He clutched it and tried to ignore the pain. It was then that he briefly remembered his conversation with Kaede.

"Inuyasha, there be another thing." Kaede said as he was about to leave.

"Hn?" His mind was already strewn with the possible things that he could say to Kikyou that he only half-listened to the older woman.

"Listen ye idiot." Kaede scolded him. "Tis' may be important."

"Okay, okay, what is it?" He said impatiently.

"Ye have a mark at the side of yer neck. Tis' in the shape of two snakes coiled together. I don't know what tis' means but tis' looks like a curse mark." Kaede said. "You be careful, ya hear?"

Inuyasha scoffed. "Keh, I don't feel different, so it's probably nothing."

"Let's hope so." Kaede warned one last time before he took off.

'It's that damn mark.' He cursed under his breath.

"Inuyasha? What's wrong?" Kikyou asked as she stood up and went over to him. She sat next to him and gently pried his hand off the side of his neck.

Inuyasha saw the shock in her eyes. The pain stopped then.

"That... mark..." She whispered more to herself than to him. "Then the one who..." Her voice trailed off.

Inuyasha swiftly turned to her and said in a harsh voice; "You know something, don't you?"

She didn't answer but met his gaze. He could see that she was thinking deeply about something and he wanted to know what it was. She then promptly stood up and started to put distance between them.

"Goddamit Kikyou!" Inuyasha followed her as she backed away from him. He roughly grabbed her wrist.

Then he saw them. The multiple bruises and bite marks on her wrist, it was only a glimpse but he could tell that there were more.

"So that's how it is." Inuyasha had his other hand balled into a fist at his side so that it was almost drawing blood, and his bangs covered his eyes.

Kikyou felt afraid then, he shouldn't have seen those. The aura he was emitting was a very violent one, it felt like he could snap at any moment.

Kikyou swallowed and said. "We're married. It's to be expected."

Inuyasha chuckled slightly and tightened his grip on her wrist; she flinched but thought it best not to attempt pulling away. "Haha, I thought Sesshomaru was against having half-breed children."

"Inuyasha... it hurts." She faltered, her voice pained.

"You say that, but doesn't it hurt too when he bites and hits you or do you enjoy those things?"

She slapped him hard across the face with her free hand.

He didn't let her go and he barely noticed that his cheek was red. Inuyasha looked at Kikyou with an expression that was completely unreadable.

Kikyou realized the error of what she had done as she suddenly found herself hurled painfully to the ground.

The wind was knocked out of her and it took her a while to notice that Inuyasha had her pinned down. She also saw the purple marks at the sides of his face.

She thought that it wasn't possible for him to lose control, even if he was very mad. Kikyou could tell that he had kept his emotions bottled up inside since the marriage (in other words, he was unstable at the moment) and now she was seeing the full force of it. Except, like she had thought, he wouldn't be able to lose control with the tessaiga in his possession. A realization came to her then.

Slowly, she raised both her hands to gingerly hold his face. He remained passive, like a lion ready to pounce on a deer.

"Inuyasha, listen carefully." Kikyou tried to sound calm despite feeling otherwise. "You are under the control of the mark on your neck. It is amplifying your hate and desperation and making you act upon it. Do not do anything you will regret later on."

Inuyasha laughed then. "But I've wanted to do this for a long time now." He nuzzled her neck. "And I don't hate you, I love you."

The urge to push, kick and scream was great, but Kikyou knew that if she did that then the guards would burst in and yes, she would be saved, but to find them in a very intimate position will not only cause conflict among the demons and put her authority into question, but will make things worse between her and Sesshomaru. He would kill Inuyasha, which would be an easier feat now that he was in Sesshomaru's territory.

Kikyou held him. She could zap him right now, but her powers were weak now, and even if she did, he could continue to move without feeling pain in his body and the resulting noise would draw attention.

She decided to try again. "Inuyasha," She held his head. "Don't do this. We can't."

Inuyasha yanked away, straightened himself up and growled. "And Sesshomaru can?"

'He's my husband.' Was what she wanted to say. He knew that and so he spoke first.

"Ah, that's right, you're together." His features darkened. "Why, Kikyou?"

She turned away from him. "I can't answer that."

He rolled off her and laid beside her. He covered his face with his hands.

Kikyou sighed with relief and pulled herself upright. 'That was close.' She thought.

"Kikyou..." She heard Inuyasha call her name and turned to face him.

She was suddenly pulled forward and their lips met.

Kikyou was bewildered and her entire body stiffened. He let her go and licked his lips. "At least I stole something from that bastard."

Then Inuyasha fell to his side, unconscious.

Kikyou held her lips, face red and breathing shallow. She closed her eyes and wondered about what she should do. She looked at Inuyasha and said outloud (knowing that she couldn't hear him), "You're making this very difficult for me."

Kikyou stood up and called for the guards.

When they arrived, she told them to put Inuyasha in a guest room.

They did so without question, but they did give her odd looks. She supposed they must have noticed her slightly messed up appearance, which she forgot to correct.

No matter, it would have to wait for when he wakes up. They have many things to discuss.

Kikyou went to the door, but not before glancing briefly at where they have been and thinking of what could have happened.

And also about what he did.

She shook her head. There was no use holding on to what was. The past can't be changed and decisions have already been made.

That has always been the case.

For the both of them.

With that, Kikyou left the room without looking back.

So yeah, sorry for any mistakes made in spellings and grammars. Also would like to point this out before some else does, some places and things may seem OP(out of place) in the story and its time frame, but hey, it's a fanfiction ^~^
