6ix chapter 3

As promised, here's the next chapter. Not much in the way of action, but there needs to be some story before we can do anything fun. Next time for sure.

Disclaimer: I don't own Fate/Kalied Linear Prisma Illya or Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Strikers. No money is being made from this, its only for fun, etc.

After a very long chat, going over the entire day in as much detail as they could, Chrono and Hayate finally put the finishing touches on the official report regarding the gadget drones and the strange tremor.

"I understand your situation." Chrono said finally, "Though you're technically at fault for the tremor, the scale and mitigating circumstances are enough for me. The matter won't be pursued any further."

"Thank you very much." Irisviel bowed her head.

"However, the description of your world does present us with a small problem." Hayate continued, "I'm afraid that we can't determine from which world you originate. We can try to put in a request to search through the non-administrated worlds, but the time and manpower required, and the number of people in similar situations means that we can't promise it'll be resolved quickly."

"At minimum, it'll be several months before we can find your world and return you and your children there." Chrono nodded at Hayate's assessment, "So we'll need to do something for you in the meantime."

Behind them, the doors opened, and the small girl with light blue hair floated in, levitating a moderately large stack of paper in front of her.

"Please fill out these forms." She smiled, "For both yourselves and your children."

"Until you've been safely returned to your world, you'll be officially recognized as refugees on Mid-Childa." Chrono explained, "Once the paperwork is filed, we'll work on locating someplace for you to stay."

"I'll reach out to a friend at the Saint Church. She'll help you find some work while you're here." Hayate smiled, "You don't have to worry. It won't take too long for everything to be in order."

"What about Illya?" Bazett asked while filling out her own form.

"She'll be kept aboard the ship until she's stable enough to transport to an ordinary hospital." Chrono answered, "You'll be allowed to remain until she's transferred. With Shamal caring for her, I'm sure it won't be too long before she's ready to be moved."

"I appreciate all of your help." Irisviel bowed, and Bazett joined her.

"Just doing our job." He chuckled, accepting their completed paperwork from them, "Anyway, let's go see the others. We still need their paperwork, after all."

"I can't thank you enough." Iri said for the umpteenth time since meeting them both.

Chrono smiled, standing and walking back down the hall towards the infirmary with the others just behind him. Illya and the girls were still sleeping peacefully, though Caren, Rin, and Luvia were awake and talking softly across the room.

"We've heard about your situation." Chrono told them, handing each of them the paperwork, "Until we can find a way to take you back to your world, we'll be placing you on Mid-Childa."

"Well, that seems reasonable." Luvia huffed, and Rin slapped the back of her head.

"I think what she meant was thank you for going through all of the trouble." Rin smiled. "Isn't that right, Caren?"

"Yeah, I guess…" She shrugged, not even looking up from her paperwork, much to Rin's displeasure.

"We can't do too much until they're stable enough to move." Hayate replied, "But if you'd like, we should have a few empty rooms you can rest in until then."

"I'll stay here, if you don't mind." Irisviel said, sitting in the chair beside Illya's bed while everyone else followed Hayate and Chrono out into the hallway.

When Miyu finally regained consciousness, her body felt lighter than it had in awhile. After she'd forcefully installed the Saber card, it wasn't outside the realm of possibility for her to die, but since she wasn't dead, something must've happened.

Slowly, she sat up in the comfortable bed. The wounds she'd taken fighting off those robots had completely healed, and she was no longer wearing Saber's armor, not that she'd been expecting to.

"You're awake!" a familiar voice sighed from just to her right, and she turned her head. Illya's mother was smiling back at her, "I'm glad." She said softly, "You've been asleep for two days."

"Where are we?" Miyu asked before she thought of a more important question, "What happened to Illya!?"

"Calm down." Irisviel said, putting a hand on her shoulder to stop her from getting out of bed, "Illya's fine. She was rescued in time."

"Thank god…" she whispered, "And what about Kuro?"

"She's fine too." Caren said, walking into the room, "Surprisingly, the ones who kidnapped her managed to save her life before they ran off. She's not even suffering a little bit, it's so boring..."

"Why would they...?" Miyu frowned without acknowledging Caren's heartless comment, and Irisviel shrugged her shoulders.

"I have no idea, but as long as my girls are safe, I won't complain."

"I somehow doubt it was out of the goodness of their hearts." Caren said to herself, but neither Miyu nor Irisviel seemed to care. What mattered was that Kuro was alive. Whatever ulterior motives they might have would be dealt with when it comes up.

Miyu eventually managed to get out of bed to check on her friends, despite Iri's attempt to stop her. Kuro was sleeping peacefully, seemingly no worse for wear after her abduction. More surprisingly, her mana levels were entirely normal. They must have some sort of treatment for Kuro's condition that wasn't known on their world.

Illya was the one she was more anguished to see, but her bed was closed off by curtains. Eventually, after a lot of pleading, she convinced Irisviel to let her see her friend.

She didn't seem to have changed since the forest, but it was comforting to at least see her skin regain a bit of color, and her breathing was normal. Breathing a sigh of relief, she closed the curtain again.

"I'm glad." She finally smiled, sitting at the foot of her bed, "I was so worried I..."

"I imagine you were." Irisviel smiled back, but then her expression turned cold, "That being the case, that does not excuse your reckless behavior."

"But, they were kidnapped, and-" Miyu tried to say quickly, but Iri cleared her throat.

"I understand why you did it." She said carefully, but her expression didn't soften in the slightest, "But that does not excuse you. Tell me, what would you have done if you were also taken? Or what if you were successful? You had no plan going in. Even if you'd saved Illya and Kuro, they still might've died because you had no way to save them."

"..." Miyu stood in silence, waiting for scolding to continue, but Iri just sighed.

"I know that you meant well, but think about how Illya would feel if something happened to you. After everything she went through to bring you back… Losing you might break her. So please look after yourself."

"...Okay." Miyu nodded, and Irisviel finally smiled.

"Good. Then let's go." She said, "Then I think it's about time for us to show you around."

"But, I want to wait for-" Miyu started to say, but Irisviel shook her head.

"Illya's in good hands. She probably won't wake up for a few more days. You, on the other hand, haven't eaten in two days. Now, come along or I'll have to drag you with me."

Miyu shuddered at the cold voice and went with her willingly. The hallway looked like something out of one of Illya's anime, but Irisviel seemed to have adjusted to it perfectly, easily finding her way through the halls like she'd been doing it all her life. After a few minutes, they walked into what looked like a cafeteria.

"You can have whatever you like." Irisviel smiled while they waited in line.

"Miyu, you're awake?" someone said from their right, and Miyu breathed a sigh of relief. Turning, she saw that both Rin and Luvia were perfectly fine, each carrying a tray of food.

"Yes." she bowed, "I'm sorry to have worried you."

"I'm supposed to worry about you." Luvia smiled, "However, you and I are going to have to have a talk about you running off like that. Honestly, it's a wonder you didn't get yourself killed!"

"I'm very sorry…" She apologized again, and Luvia sighed.

"Well, you're safe now, so that's all that matters."

"Come on, Luvia. We were supposed to meet with Shario, remember?" Rin reminded her.

"Yes, I'm aware." Luvia replied, "Well, we'll talk some other time, Miyu, alright?"

"Yes ma'am." Miyu nodded, watching them carry their food out of the cafeteria.

"Sorry to bother you." Rin said as she and Luvia entered into Shario's lab. Shario herself was working on several devices when they walked in, and she looked up.

"Hey, you guys found me okay." She smiled, getting up from her work station and stretching, "Sorry to have to make you come during lunch, but it's basically the only time I've really got to chat."

Gesturing to the nearby table, both Rin and Luvia set their tray down and took a seat. "It's no trouble." Luvia replied, "We were the ones to ask for a meeting, after all. It's only fair that we accommodate your schedule."

"I appreciate your understanding." Shario smiled, sipping a cup of tea, "So, to what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I've heard a few people around the ship mention that you were in charge of building and repairing devices, correct?" Rin asked, and Shario nodded.

"That's right." Shario nodded, and Rin slipped a hand into her pocket. From within, she removed the tattered remains of two golden stars.

"Is there anything you can do to fix these?" Luvia asked as Rin slid them across the table towards her. Picking up the first one, she immediately used her magic to launch a thorough scan of the device.

Their components and composition were completely foreign to her. Even the intention of the devices couldn't be properly determined. What she could tell was that they'd been burned out by an enormous burst of magic. Their cores, while intact, were entirely inactive. The surrounding areas were nearly a total loss. Even if she had the means to, the configurations were bizarre, unlike any other device she'd ever seen.

"...These are devices from your world?" Shario asked, placing it down on the table.

"That's correct. They were given to us by the grand marshal of the mage's association." Luvia nodded.

Sighing, she shook her head, "I'm sorry, but a device like this is well outside my expertise. The frame damage is a relatively simple fix, but the internal components are completely destroyed. I can't attempt to create duplicate parts without knowing what they were like undamaged."

"I see." Rin sighed, "Well, thank you for taking a look at them."

A thought occurred to Shario a moment later as Rin reached for the broken devices.

"Could you leave them here with me for a bit?" She asked, "With a bit of work, Master Sergeant Reinforce and I might be able to come up with something that'll do some good. I can't make any promises, of course, but we can always take a look."

"We'd appreciate it." Luvia bowed, as did Rin.

Looking up at the sky, Gilgamesh couldn't help but sigh.

"Well, this certainly isn't their world." He said, casually looking around the mountain where he'd landed. The geography was completely different, and the overwhelming amount of magic was a far cry from the world of those people. Even though he'd never seen it with his own eyes, that much was clear.

"Not like it makes a difference." He shrugged, hopping to his feet, "But it sure is a pain. Now I have to track my card down all over again." Without turning around, he added, "And you, Ainsworth?"

"..." The doll that used his card didn't respond, and despite following him for several days, she suddenly turned and walked away.

"Wonderful." He grinned, walking away from her as well, "Finders keepers, Imposter."

This world was a large place, but in the end, he'd find his treasures.

At least it wouldn't be boring.

The first thing that Illya felt when she regained consciousness was that her entire body ached. Her muscles were stiff, and she could barely move them.

"Her condition's improved greatly over the past couple days." someone said from a short distance away, "We're expecting her to wake any day now."

"I'm relieved to hear that." Her mother replied, "Please, let me know if there's been any change."

"Of course. And how is Kuro doing?"

"She's resting back at our room." Irisviel replied, "She seems to be having a hard time adjusting to everything, though."

"I'm not surprised." She replied, "After everything that happened, I would've been more surprised if she didn't. I'll ask Nanoha if she could spare one of the forwards for an afternoon. She should be able to help her adjust a bit better."

"Thank you." Irisviel sighed, "Could you watch Illya for a little bit? I need to step out and get some air."

"Sure."

'Who is that?' Illya asked, trying to figure out who exactly was talking to her mother, but before she could make any sense of it, someone poked her cheek.

"How long are you going to pretend to be asleep?" A much more familiar voice said, continuing to poke her, "Trying to hide from your mom?"

"I'm not!" Illya said quickly, opening her eye and glaring at Caren, "I just… What happened?"

"You almost died." Caren responded bluntly, "It was quite fun to watch. It looked like you were suffering quite a bit. It's a shame that your injuries were mostly internal, though..."

"Caren…" The voice that was talking to her mother said from the door, and Illya turned away from Caren. The one walking towards her was an unfamiliar woman with short blonde hair and wearing a white coat almost identical to Caren's.

"Hey, Shamal." Caren replied casually despite the cold tone, "She woke up."

"I noticed." Shamal replied, glaring at Caren, "Now, if you'd be so kind as to let the others know, I need to check on my patient."

"I suppose I might as well." Caren sighed, getting to her feet and stretching, "It's not as if this is much fun anymore…"

As soon as Caren left, Shamal sat in the seat she'd just vacated.

"Goodness, that woman is a disgrace…" She sighed, smiling at Illya, "I'm glad you're finally awake. Your friends and family have been worried about you for quite some time."

"What happened?" Illya asked, "Where am I?"

"Well, I suppose we should start with you're not on your world." Shamal said after a few moments, "We're on the world of Mid-Childa, at the headquarters of Riot Force 6, Long Arch. You've been unconscious for nearly two weeks."

"Two weeks?" Illya frowned, before she sat up as the event of the last battle came back to her, "Miyu!"

"Calm down." Shamal said, placing a hand on her shoulder, "She's fine. All of your friends made it through just fine. Aside from a few scrapes and bruises, they weren't hurt. But never mind that. How are you feeling? Are you in any pain?"

"Not really…" Illya said, shaking her head, "It's a bit tough to move, but it doesn't hurt."

"That's to be expected." Shamal nodded, making a few notes on a clipboard, "You'll probably be back to normal before long."

"That's good." Illya sighed, laying back in the bed again. Across the room, the door flew open, and something tackled Illya to the bed, accompanied with the sound of crying.

"Idiot!" Miyu shouted, softly pounding on her chest, "How could you do something so stupid!?"

"Well, it's not like I had much of a choice…" Illya said pitifully in her defense, but Miyu either didn't hear or didn't care. She kept pounding on her chest while the rest of the group rushed in after her.

Despite Shamal's words, Illya's heart skipped a beat with each of them, until she finally realized that they were all together. They were all safe. They were all alive.

Against her will, tears started to leak out of her eyes.

"I'm glad you're alright, Illya." Rin smiled, and Luvia nodded in agreement.

"However, that doesn't excuse what you did." Luvia said sternly, and all of the adults nodded in agreement.

Shamal cleared her throat, "Though the circumstances might not have allowed for much time to think, that final attack was unbelievably reckless. It's nothing short of a miracle that you survived at all."

"All of us get that you wanted to save Miyu, but did you really think that anyone would be happy with that?" Rin added, "If Miyu had been taken we might've been able to drag that old bastard into helping, and saved her that way, but even he couldn't have done anything if you'd gotten yourself killed."

"I'm sorry…" Illya said softly, and Irisviel put a hand on her head.

"I won't say not to try and save your friends, but promise me that you'll be sure to take your own safety into consideration in the future." She said, pulling Illya into a hug, "I don't ever want to have to see my baby like that ever again."

"...I promise…" Illya replied tearfully, and everyone smiled in response.

"Good." Rin said as soon as Irisviel let her go, and she threw her arms around Illya as well, "Welcome back, kid."

While the rest were tearfully reuniting, three people were standing back.

"Well, I don't have to ask why she's not crying over this, but what about you?" Bazett asked, jerking her head at Caren before glancing at Kuro who was still half-hiding behind the curtain, "Shouldn't you be joining in this little hug fest?"

"I would…" She answered, touching the wall beside her, and it started to crack, "But it wouldn't be good for me to put her back in the hospital."

"Still can't control your strength?" Bazett asked, and Kuro nodded slowly, "Still, at least be sure that you talk to her."

"...Yeah, I will." Kuro sighed.

The next day, after a few more tests and another night's rest, Illya finally got the all clear from Shamal to leave the infirmary.

"Easy." Her mom said softly, helping her get to her feet unsteadily.

"Thanks, Mama." Illya replied, "But what now?"

"Well, now that you're better, we'll be transferring to a civilian shelter while they try and track down our world." Irisviel answered, "Caren, Bazett, Rin and Luvia have already moved over, so it's just me, you, Kuro, and Miyu who'll be going today."

"Speaking of, I was worried I'd miss you." Someone said from the doorway, and Irisviel smiled even though Illya didn't recognize the woman at all.

"Commander Yagami. I'd like to thank you again for all your help." she bowed, "I won't forget this."

"You don't have to keep thanking me." Hayate said with a smile, "It's my job, after all. Still, I'm glad that everything turned out alright. I'm sorry to have to inconvenience you like this, but I don't really have the authority to have move you up the list. But I promise I'll see what I can do to get you back to your world as soon as possible."

"Thank you." Irisviel smiled.

"Well, allow me to escort you to the helicopter." She smiled, looking down at Illya, "After all, I haven't had a chance to speak with you, Illya."

Things get a bit more fun next time, with plenty of fighting. Not going to make any promises as to when that'll be, but the next chapter done, so it'll be up eventually. As always, review to your heart's content.
