Author's Note: Okay I am so sorry about not uploading this story since July. I did loose me muse for this story a while ago but now it's back yay! I hope you like this chapter I tried to make this one a little interesting and sorry if Jane and Lisbon seem a little out of character, I just needed them to be to make this chapter work. So without further interruption here's chapter three!

Disclaimer: I don't own TM.

Lisbon didn't know how to answer the question, of course it would have been easier just to say yes and explain to her daughter everything that had happened with Jane and herself. Although she could never make things so easy for herself no matter how hard she tried.

Avoiding her daughters eye contact she got off the floor and left the room.

Sydney watched her leave, she wasn't surprised. Sydney had grown used to unanswered questions in her life and she had a feeling that most of the things she wondered would never have an answer. It's what you get when you live with a Mother so damaged that she can't share her biggest secret with her own flesh and blood.

Sydney continued to lay on the floor once her Mother left, the tears began to fall again but quickly left when Harley came trotting into the room.

"Harley!" Sydney smiled sitting herself up against her bed waiting for the Black Lab to walk over to her.

The dog was the one thing that Sydney could always count on to be there for her. She had her friends who were there, plus her Mother but for some reason Harley was what she depended on the most.

Harley walked over and laid her head on Sydney's lap while the girl pet her. The same thoughts ran though the girls head every time her Father was brought into her life. She wondered what her life could have been if he was around. Could he be a millionaire? Was he alive? Did he have a family? Did he love her Mother? Did he love her? Sydney pondered the last thought for a while longer than the rest. Did her Father even know about her?

Sydney woke up on the floor snuggled next to Harley. She lifted her head to look at the alarm clock it was 11 at night. Deciding that she was hungry Sydney got up and walked the the stairs and into the kitchen.

"You're awake." Lisbon said standing in the doorway of the kitchen startling Sydney so much that she dropped the ice cream she was eating in front of the freezer.

"Uh huh." Sydney said avoiding her Mother's eyes, picking up the container from the floor and shoving it back into the freezer.

"We need to talk." Lisbon said sitting down at the kitchen table.

"I don't." Sydney said a new flush of anger running through her body.

"Please." Lisbon pleaded at her daughter.

"Goodnight." Sydney said leaving the room and heading back up the stairs and into her bedroom.

Lisbon looked around the empty kitchen. It was all her fault once again, she brought her hands to her head and ran them through her hair until she heard a cry coming from her room. Reluctantly Lisbon got up from her seat and walked into her room where Logan was standing up in the pack-in-play with tears running down his face.

"Hey sweetie." Lisbon said as she approached the boys side.

"Mama?" Logan asked tears still streaming from his eyes.

"No, honey it's not Mama." Lisbon answered the boy as she began to reach for him but he ran to the other side of the play pen.

"Mama! Mama!" Logan continued to scream.

"Logan it's okay, come here." Lisbon spoke trying to somewhat calm the toddler.

"Mama!" Logan yelled again.

"Damn it." Lisbon mumbled under her breath as she picked up the screaming and kicking toddler. Rubbing the boys back and rocking him back and forth didn't calm him anymore, he just grew angrier and continued to kick and scream.

"What are you doing to him!" Sydney yelled as she walked into her Mother's room with a blanket wrapped around herself.

"He just want's his Mother." Lisbon spoke, while running her hand up and down the boys back.

"Just put him to sleep, call someone who knows about babies." Sydney offered, angered that she had just fallen asleep only to wake up moments later to a screaming kid.

"Calling someone isn't going to help Sid." Lisbon responded.

"Have you tried it?" Sydney continued as she walked into the room to sit on the bed.

"No, but I've got experience in the baby department." Lisbon said remembering when Sydney was only a few months old and never slept through the night.

"So it wouldn't hurt. I mean Wayne has Ben call him." Sydney offered.

"No, it's almost midnight, I'm not going to call him." Lisbon said still trying to make Logan stop crying.

"Then call Jane, maybe he can hypnotize Logan to sleep or whatever he does." Sydney said walking over to the night stand where she knew her Mother's phone would be charging. Before Lisbon could say another word, Sydney had dialed Jane's number.

"Lisbon what do you want it's the middle of the night." Jane spoke into the phone rubbing his eyes to get the sleep out of them.

"Actually it's Sydney, my Mother is to stubborn to ask for help so I'm doing it." Sydney began as Lisbon was trying to grab the phone out of her daughters hand.

"Ask my help for what?" Jane answered intrigued.

"Logan wants his Mom and he can't sleep, is there anything you can do to help?" Sydney asked hopefully .

"Are you asking me to hypnotize him?" Jane jokingly spoke, not realizing it was exactly what Sydney was hoping he would say.

"Actually that would be fantastic can you been here in like 10 minutes?"Sydney said walking away from her Mom who was trying to pry the cell phone from her daughter's hands.

"I'll be there but I'm not going to hypnotize Logan." Jane said pulling the covers from his body and stepping out of bed.

"Okay thanks." Sydney said hanging up the phone not waiting from Jane's response.

Sydney placed the phone back on her Mother's night stand and turned to leave the room.

"Where do you think you are going?" Lisbon said still trying to calm down Logan.

"Back to bed, I've got school in the morning." Sydney answered leaving the room.

Lisbon couldn't argue with her about that, Sydney did need her sleep for school since it was already hard enough to get her out of bed on a non school day.

Lisbon walked down stairs with Logan, she was upset with Sydney about calling Jane but she was so tired and frustrated that all her common sense had left her mind.

"Lisbon." Jane said as the front door opened to revel a disheveled Lisbon, but Jane couldn't help but smile, she looked hot. Her hair is a messy ponytail, tear stains on her old T-shirt plus a baby on her hip that was screaming bloody murder.

"Let me take him." Jane said, his fatherly instincts had suddenly had come to surface after many years.

"Here." Lisbon said pushing the boy into Jane's arms. "I've tried everything, I gave him warm milk and tried rocking him but all he wants is his parents." Lisbon said running her hands through her hair and down her face.

"Jane, I don't know what's wrong with me. When Sydney was a baby and she would wake up and cry at night I could make her fall right back to sleep but Logan he won't, I feel so bad I can't do anything for him." Lisbon said signaling Jane to follow her to her room where Logan was sleeping.

"Lisbon, it's not your fault. He misses his Mom and Dad the best we can do is try and calm him down enough to let him fall back asleep." Jane said surprised that Lisbon was so open about her personal life.

Jane put Logan in his pack-in-play and sat down on the chair that was next to the bed. The only thing that came to his mind was to sing, that had always made Charlotte fall to sleep after a rough night. He began to sing the only lullaby he could remember and after a few minutes Logan was no longer screaming or crying but was falling asleep, he looked over at Lisbon's bed to her asleep also. Suddenly feeling awkward he left his boss's room and headed for the front door.

As he walked down the hallway to leading to the stairs and then to the front door something caught his eye, it was a black and gray rectangular piece of paper that was hanging out from a book. He didn't think is action all the way through until it was too late. The book he pulled out was the Baby Name Book, he opened to book to where the paper had book marked it. There was writing all over the book, names circled and crossed out. He looked at the paper it was a sonogram picture and from name circled on the page he assumed it was of Sydney. Flipping over the sonogram picture he read the writing on the back of it, taken November 12th 1997, due June 27th 1998.

Jane couldn't believe what he was reading, he remembered having slept with Teresa Lisbon sometime during the fall of '97, but he never thought that, if his math was correct, Sydney could have been his daughter.
