When it came to love, Fleur thought she knew it all.

Boys fell in love with her almost all the time. A few of them she had even felt affection for. She had dated and even bedded a boy or two in her time. She had kissed confident smooth talking boys who could charm the birds out of the trees and quiet, shy boys who barely knew what to say to her. There were boys who bored her and boys who were interesting. She had met them all and none had managed to inspire the feelings her mother's romance novels had talked about. Love at first sight was a myth as far as she was concerned and that was final.

Or at least, that was what she had believed it to be.

But then, in her final year at Beaubatons, she met HER.

It was perhaps ironic that had the Tri-Wizard tournament never happened, they would probably have never met. Fleur had been considering working for the French Ministry, or maybe working for the French Wizarding bank. She wasn't really sure what she wanted to do with her life to be honest.

SHE was considering being a healer or possibly a researcher for a big potions company. She was focused and determined and was often ignored. SHE was also a good few years younger than Fleur, not a problem for an older witch, but certainly one for one of her age.

And if they hadn't collided in the Hogwarts hallways, Fleur on her way to classes with Madame Maxime and SHE had been on her way to Charms.

They crashed and although Fleur intended to give the other girls a piece of her mind, she hadn't anticipated being suddenly drawn to HER beautiful brown eyes. Or the way those eyes made her want to stare into them for an eternity. And she certainly hadn't meant to blurt out what she blurted out.

"Will you go to the ball with me?" Fleur blurted out, surprising even herself. The other girl blushed furiously, before giving her a whispered yes in reply and, still blushing, she rushed to her next class.

Fleur thought she knew about love. And then she met Su Li and learnt that she really didn't know anything about love at all.
