Chapter 3/Drabble 3 The Death of Alternate Trunks

Everything was going right, he thought as he destroyed Gero's lab and returned to the future. Smiling, Trunks greeted his mother before taking the papers to her.

A few weeks passed before she gave him a remote, designed to shut down 17 and 18.

Finally, his timeline could be free.

He snuck up on the two of them and pressed the button. Seventeen fell limp, deactivated, while Eighteen glared angrily.

"You little brat-" She cried, but then he pressed the button again. Eighteen fell limp, too. He destroyed them.

Smiling in satisfaction, he returned home. It was night time. After wishing his mother good night and saying he would be back after seeing them again for the final time, he headed out to the time machine to program it to head to the past. He hoped they had done all right.

"It should be ready to go." He muttered, before he suddenly heard a noise. What was that?

Looking around, the Saiyan noticed a shadow around the side of his house, before a strange, green figure appeared in full view. It was covered in black spots and possessed a strange, needle-shaped tail, while also having a strange appearance to an insect. It had red eyes that were surveying him in interest before it moved closer, saying nothing.

"No..." He whispered, "There cannot be more of you!"

The thing laughed under its breath as it approached his time machine. With horror, he realized...it wanted his time machine. Well, it wasn't going to get it without a fight. He unsheathed his sword, preparing to fight.

"Stand back, foolish boy. Do not resist me."

"You won't take this! I won't let you go to the past!" He yelled while charging at the creature. It dodged him before knocking the blade out of his hands. Stunned, he only had a second to react before the creature's tail was around his throat, dragging him up in the air as he helplessly flailed.

"I'll end your misery, stupid boy."

He was losing air fast.

'No, I can't die now! Mom, Gohan, the others...I have to fight-'

His neck snapped and Trunks was no more. The Saiyan race was no more.

Cell dropped the corpse before hopping into the time machine and turning into his larval form and it disappeared, taking the machine with it.

Bulma heard the sound of the machine going off and went outside. It was then that she noticed the limp form lying on the ground and her eyes widened. "Trunks! Trunks, open your eyes!"

Her son didn't move, or open his eyes. He was dead.

Tears ran down her face and shortly after that, she couldn't take it anymore and took her own life. She couldn't live without Trunks.

Still, the world knew peace, as Babidi passed over Earth, deciding no warriors were present to fight and taking Buu elsewhere.
