A/N: Oh man, I friggin' love this story, man! I mean even though I doubt anyone's reading, I still love writing it. Now I will say that compared to the other chapters prior there is a little less action. You guys are also going to have to wait to see what happens to Captain Falcon and his servant Samus in their battle with the servant King Bowser. But don't let that get you down! This chapter sets up so much chaos in the coming chapters, and references so much that happened in the prior chapters. You guys that are reading literally have no idea what's in store for you in the next two to three chapters. If I could use one word to describe it, I'd call it "EPIC!" Now I will give you guys a fair warning, expect a certain Princess in this chapter to be a little out of character, but it is definitely a necessary evil. I simply hate how this character would be in my story if they didn't act like how I portray her. I needed a character like her in my story! Nintendo made them boring, and I think this version adds a fresh new feeling when writing for them.

Also, I tend to try and get chapters up in a hurry, and I have no beta reader, so expect some errors here and there that I will eventually iron out as I read over it a couple of times. If it gets to be too bad, let me know and I will double or even triple proofread before posting updates as opposed to rushing to get the update up. Just let me know whichever you prefer, alright?

Anyways, I could talk all day about this chapter, and why I love it and enjoyed writing it, but then I'd come off as a narcissist who loves to talk about himself and his story…in which I am and do!

oh, before I forget...

Established Servants and Masters, thus far: Dr. Mario and his "Tank" King Bowser / Captain Falcon and his "Hunter" Samus Aran / Amy Rose and her "Archer" Pit

And this too...

I own nothing from Nintendo. I also happen to own absolutely nothing from the Fate Stay Night Series, and while you don't need to watch that series to understand this story, it still is the driving inspiration of this story.

And last but not least...

Extended Summary: "Bring back the Holy Grail," she shouts and Pit rallies his Angels, "All troops, move out!" / "You, just like the others have a bounty on your head…I will see to it that that bounty is collected," Samus says, charging her cannon. "Have at me!" Bowser beckons. / "Ness, will you fight?" Ness looks up, "I really don't have a choice, do I?" – In an Alternate Universe, many will desire a wish from the Holy Grail, some good, some evil, but only Zelda, Ness, Peach, Captain Falcon, Dr. Mario, Tails and Ganondorf are chosen to compete in the Gauntlet. As chosen Masters they must each summon a Servant to fight for them! Who will be selected as a Servant for each Master? Will they obey their Masters? Many will fight, but in the end, only the strongest will win! May the odds be ever in their favor!

And without further a due...

Bringing Back the Gauntlet

Chapter 2

"Stubborn Kid"

"Who are you, and where are we?" A boy asks; he looks no older than thirteen.

He looks up at the male angel, floating in the sky above him, proceeding to point at him and then gesture to scene around him. A large city, covered in buildings, surrounds them. It is like a concrete jungle, but the buildings are in ruin. One of the buildings in the distance crumbles and falls in a pile of rubble, showing the inevitable decline of the city.

"Who am I?" the angel repeats. "I am but a messenger, but apparently the message has already been sent, by your friend."

"Wait, this is," A boy stammers, looking around at the city that lay in ruin by an unknown apocalypse. "I-it can't be!"

"Oh, but it is, Ness," the angel reveals. "This is very much your home. This is Onett."

"Then Paula," Ness places his hands on his cheeks, shaking his head. "Then the vision, t-the vision she sent me," he says, eyes widening. "It was real!"

"Indeed."

Ness closes his eyes and tries to search for Paula's presence using his telepathy. He searches and searches, but doesn't sense her link anywhere in the abandoned city of Onett. He fears the worse, but it couldn't be true. He reopens his eyes and wipes away a few tears.

"Do not cry, Ness."

Ness' eyes turn white, and his body emits a blue aura as he stares directly at the angel.

"That won't work on me." the angel says. "You can't read my mind even if you wanted to."

Ness' eyes return to their normal dark brown hue. "Don't tell me what I can and cannot do!" Ness wipes another tear away and grits his teeth. "You're an angel, so isn't it your job to save people." he says. "Why am I only one who gets out? Why didn't you save anyone else?" Ness picks up a rock and throws it wildly at the angel; it's a miss. "My friends," he throws one for them, "my family," and one more for them. "Where is Paula?" he screams after not being able to hit the angel.

"As I already said, I am but just a messenger. I was sent to not only retrieve you, but also give you," the angel pauses to search for something on his person. "This!" He tosses Ness a round, red and white capsule. "With it you can save your friends, your family and your precious city."

Ness catches the capsule, looking it over. "This piece of junk," he says under his breath, knowing full well that he was gifted, but not stupid. "This can't fix anything!" he shouts.

"You shouldn't be so quick to judge on appearance alone." he states. "Many would write you off as easy prey, but you alone may prove to be the strongest with what lay locked away in that ball that you now possess." He descends from the sky and lands beside Ness, patting his head. "I wish you the best of luck, Ness."

"Best of luck?" Ness shakes his head, "Best of luck in what?" he asks.

"The Gauntlet," He says. "You and six others have something you each desire, and because of that reason you have been chosen as Masters. In order to obtain what you seek, the road is the same. You must fight in the coming Gauntlet for the Holy Grail; it and only it will grant your deepest desire."

Ness looks at the state of the city, stained in rust, dirt and rubble. "So I can fix this?"

"Indeed you can." the angel says, and points to the Capsule in Ness' hands. "With that, you are now able to summon a servant to fight for you or beside you in the Gauntlet. If you and your Servant are the last one's standing, then and only then will your wish be granted. If you or your servant dies you will forfeit your right to fight for the Holy Grail."

Ness' eyes widen. "I can die?" he asks, shaking his head. "I don't even think I get what's really going on here, and until I know what's what I'm not just going to run around killing people just because you told me to. " He closes his eyes. "And what if I decide not to do it?" he asks him. "What then?"

"No one's forcing you to do anything. I can take you back if you'd like, and if that is what you wish, then so be it." The angel says, "Just know that the state that you return in may not be as favorable as you may believe it to be." He gestures with his hands, bringing Ness' attention back to the world around them. "This is and will forever be Onett's future, unless you change it."

"What should I do, Paula?" Ness thinks to himself, but the answer is simple.

" I really don't have a choice, do I?" Ness looks up into the sky. "I can't let this happen, especially when there's a chance I can stop it from happening, right?"

The angel looks at the capsule in Ness' hand. "Ness, will you fight?" he asks. "Will you summon Caster and fight in the Gauntlet?"

"Caster?" Ness looks down at the capsule. "Okay, I will." he says, nodding.

"The moment you summon him," the angel pauses, and locks eyes with Ness as he looks up at him, "you will not be able to leave this place until the battle is won." he finishes, implying that that would be the point of no return.

Ness gets the message, "Okay!" he says, nodding once more.

Ness awakens to a loud boom; it echoes from somewhere fairly close in the city. He didn't remember falling asleep. He had wanted to stay up all night, keeping a look out on top of the roof of an apartment building. He knew Onett like the back of his hand. That helped him decide that this was the best place to set up camp with the supplies he managed to scavenge. The slightly higher ground would aid him in easily spotting any of the other Masters if they ever came for him, and the fact that it wasn't the tallest building in the vicinity, made it possible that it'd draw less attention as opposed to the other more favorable locations. He didn't need the unnecessary attention and didn't want to take any chances being caught off guard if anyone tried to attack him. He also didn't want to fight if he didn't have to and was prepared to wait here as long as he had to before engaging the others.

He hears another loud bang, and it is closer. He looks east and sees an explosion, followed by another out in the distance. There's a battle going on nearby and whoever was fighting had a plethora of missiles at their disposal. His eyes widen. A missiles is flying in his direction! He takes cover behind an old air conditioner and the missile barely misses the apartment and blows a nearby by rooftop to smithereens! He looks at the building, watching it crumble; he now knew he was wrong to assume he was safe here. He had known the city was going to turn into a war zone at some point, but didn't expect it to be so soon. He had to keep moving before he found himself in the middle of it.

Ness grabs his bat, and searches for his backpack, but he can't find it. He writes it off as a loss, valuing his life more and sprints to a door leading to the stairwell. Another explosion goes off, coming from another building and it sends debris flying in all directions. He ducks down and protects his head from the debris on the way to the door. When he reaches the door, he doesn't bother with the door knob. He tackles the door, groaning in pain as his shoulder hits it. The rusty door gives easily, swinging open with enough force to put a hole in the wall behind it. He looks down several flights of stairs and he sees a small girl dressed in a dirty red raincoat. She looks up at him, startled by the sound of Ness busting through the door. He can see her pink, cherry blossom hair, but he can't make out her face; it is hidden by her hood. She is holding a familiar blue backpack. She looks at the bag and then back up at Ness. Ness' eyes widen, and turn white as he tries to read her mind. She whimpers, and all Ness can see in her mind is a brick wall; it blocks him from seeing her thoughts. Ness gives up and his eyes return normal as she puts his backpack on her back and takes off down the stairs.

"Hey!" Ness shouts, and the building shakes. "That's mine!" he calls out again, grabbing onto the banister to his left, leaning on it and looking down at her.

The banister gives, and crumbles under Ness' weight. Ness falls and is sent crashing into the flight of stairs below him. "I need to be more careful." He groans and reaches out to his bat, but it rolls down a couple of more stairs ahead of him. The building shakes again and Ness dizzily gets to his feet, gingerly stepping down the stairs and making his way toward the bat. He sees two bats at first, but he shakes his head, and the two become one. He reaches down and grabs it and when he looks down and off to the left he can see the girl look up at him from three flights down. Ness looks at the bat and then at her, and this causes her to continue her descent down the stairs.

"Wait, I'm not going to hurt you," he continues to pursue her down the stairs. "I just want my bag back!"

Ness chases the girl down several more flights of stairs, and it feels as if the building is about come down around them at any minute. She reaches the ground floor, and looks back at him once more before heading out the double doors that lead to the street. Ness jumps down the last flight of stairs and sprints out the door after her.

When Ness exits the apartment building, he immediately hears a loud crash behind him as the second and third floor collapse into the first, sealing the entrance back into the apartment building. Ness holds his heart and catches his breath for a moment. He knows he is lucky to be alive, but he could take time to rejoice later. He had to find the thief that stole his backpack. He looks down the street and ducks as he sees another explosion. The explosion sends a car airborne and it flies down the street and slams into the side of a building.

"Oh man," looks left, "Oh man," then right. "Where did she go?"

Ness looks up, and shouts, "Whoah!" Three fighter jets go soaring through the sky. "People are using airplanes!" His eyes widen. "How am I supposed to take down an airplane?"

Ness didn't need anyone to answer that question, because he already knew the answer. The planes were heading in the direction of the city where the missiles were coming from, and he knew that the place where these jets were going had to be the last place he wanted to be.

Ness blinks, not really knowing what to make of all of this. He shakes his head, looking down the street at a traffic jam suspended in time with the pile up of old and rusty cars littering the city streets. He spots the thief, weaving through the cars with his backpack still on her back. He takes off after her. As the chase ensues, he would occasionally lose sight of her, debating whether or not he should give up, but then out of nowhere she would appear once again. The pursuit continues for 3 blocks until he sees her run into a drug store, but Ness is determined to catch her and retrieve his bag.

The door to the Onett Drug Store is swung ajar, causing the three old bells to jingle above the door. Ness doesn't see any sign of the thief. He tries to see if he can sense her using his telepathy, but it works to no avail. And this time, he couldn't even sense her blocking him out; it's as if she vanished without a trace. He relaxes and leans over to place his hands on his knees, catching his breath. He gets up soon after and looks around the store recalling how everything looked in the Onett that he remembered. He remembers the shop owner, Pops use to work here and he can picture him smiling warmly, greeting him.

"Welcome to Onett's Drug Store." He greets Ness, causing Ness to sadly smile back at where he imagined the old man would be standing behind the counter.

"I'm going to fix this, Pops." Ness gestures around the store, "all of this," his voice cracks. "I promise." He then scratches his head, realizing where he is. "I mean, after I borrow a couple of things."

Ness looks to his left, surveying the goods. Something blue on the floor and in the aisle catches his interest; it's his backpack. He heads into the aisle. He looks around, suspiciously before nudging it with his bat. Nothing jumps out so he sets down his baseball bat and picks up the bag. He shakes it and it still feels as if his belongings are still inside. He unzips the bag and finds his can opener along with a couple of old cans of tuna and pork and beans. However, these items weren't nearly as important as what he was really searching for.

"Where is it?" he asks, panicking.

His hand touches something round. He sighs in relief and pulls out the same red and white capsule that the angel had given to him. He was almost certain that she had stolen the capsule from him, but she didn't. Ness quickly zips his backpack and places it on his back. He then reaches for his baseball bat. As soon as he grabs it, he is lifted airborne as a surge of energy tears through the door of the Drug store, tearing it off its hinges and sending glass and items flying everywhere. Ness flies across the store from the impact of the blast. He is then surrounded in mid-flight by a blue aura and he lands in the refrigerated goods, colliding with a glass door. The glass shatters on impact and he crushes the canned sodas inside.

The blue aura surrounding him disappears and he checks himself for any damage. Besides being soaked in soda, there isn't a scratch on him. He sighs once again and rings the miscellaneous soda mixture from his shirt. "That could've been worse." He admits.

At the front of the store he sees a handsome swordsman with blue hair and blue eyes. Then behind him enters a blonde haired woman wearing a crown and a dress. Ness immediately ducks low to the ground and takes cover behind the five aisles of goods separating him from the front of the store.

"This is bad," He whispers. "Really, really bad!" He closes his eyes, trying to establish a telepathic link with the swordsman's mind. Ness' body emits a blue aura, and his eyes open, revealing them to be white once again. He then raises his fingers to his head, concentrating but he get's nothing. "I can't read him at all!" he whispers, remembering his run in with the angel whose mind he also was unable to read.

He tries to read the mind of the woman dressed like a princess…

A blonde haired girl no older than seven looks up at a bearded man wearing a crown. She is crying her eyes out as the he scolds her. "Peach, you need to behave more like royalty!" He throws up his hands. "Well look at you," and Peach looks down at her dress, "You're covered in mud!"

Peach is now thirteen and is seen staring at her reflection in a mirror. She is wearing a beautiful pink dress with a ridiculously big crown on her head and a king's cloak over her shoulders. She twirls in the dress and faces a brown haired girl who is about the same age as her.

"Daisy!" Peach calls out, "Look at me, look at me!" She places a hand on her hip, and one through her hair, batting her eye lashes. "I'm a Princess!"

Daisy claps her hands, and they begin to dance around the room. The celebration doesn't last long, because they hear someone coming. Daisy quickly helps Peach take off the cloak and crown and they make a hasty escape.

Peach is now sitting on a throne, crowned as a Princess. Two men respectively dressed in green and red hats and shirts under blue coveralls bow as guards who look like little mushroom men wheel away a massive gorilla locked in a cage. She thanks the men for saving her from the ferocious Donkey Kong, referring to the two men as plumbers named Mario and Luigi. The plumbers take their leave as King Bowser approaches her throne. He bows to her and offers her gifts. She curtsies and is flattered, but she still refuses to marry him when he proposes to her.

Princess Peach is then seen in a cage, sobbing as she hangs from a ceiling. King Bowser chuckles from his thrown, sipping his wine, and bidding his time. His loyal subjects, turtles who also walk on two legs, approach the thrown showing off various tuxedos and dresses for the upcoming wedding.

King Bowser looks up at Princess Peach, "What do ye tink of this one, sweetheart?" he asks for what seems like the hundredth time. However, Princess Peach doesn't respond. She simply just sinks back into a corner of the cage, and curls into a ball as her sobbing continues.

The scene changes once again and Princess Peach is handed an emblem with a symbol of a dragon on it. She looks at the angel who hands it to her, seemingly confused.

"Princess Peach, the Emblem you possess will summon Saber, the fiercest of all swordsmen." He pauses, looking on as she hugs the emblem to her chest and looks back at him with a look of uncertainty. "Will you fight?" he asks.

Princess Peach is then seen looking down at the blue haired male as he bows to her, swearing an oath to serve, he opens his mouth to speak, but is unable to as Ness pulls himself from Princess Peach's mind, causing her to become lightheaded and lean on the store counter.

"Oh, man. Oh, man." Ness whispers. "This is really happening." He tries to calm down. "Princess Peach is a master and this Saber guy's bad news." He gulps. "He's her servant!"

"Master?" the blue haired man approaches Princess Peach and asks, "Are you alright?"

"My head," she whispers, massaging her temples with her finger tips. "It hurts, Saber."

"What manner of foul sorcery?" Saber readies his sword, looking around the store. "Alright you little bastard, I know that you're still alive in here!" He frowns, losing his patience. "I was holding back on my last attack, pitying a Master who walks around so freely without a servant in sight. It's almost like dangling a piece of meat in front of a starving lion. I figured I'd spare you, just this once, but you have no honor. Attack my Master? In. My. Presence? Have you no honor? It matters not. I will hold back no more!" He begins to walk around store, stepping on stale chips and broken glass, causing crunching and cracking sounds to echo throughout the store. "Come out, come out wherever you are coward!"

Princess Peach regains her composure and is at his side, "Saber, are you absolutely sure you saw him come in here?" she asks.

The swordsman that she refers to as Saber brushes away a strand of his blue hair. "I'm positive the coward fled in here, Princess." Saber sniffs the air. "I can still smell his stench!"

Ness' eyes widen. He breathes in his hands and sniffs, causing himself to quietly dry heave from the smell.

"Oh man." Ness whispers. "That's terrible."

"Will you really kill him, Saber?" Peach asks Saber, causing him to look at her.

"Would that be unpleasing to you, Master?" he asks. "I vowed to live and die by your orders."

Princess Peach places a hand on Saber's shoulder and runs it along his chest plate as she circles around him. This same hand dances along his neck and jawbone. His jaw tightens as he feels her run her hand through his unruly hair. "In war," She licks her lips. "We must prepare ourselves for the casualties that might occur." Ness' eyes widen. "Servant or not, his well being is of no concern to us."

Saber closes his eyes. "Then so be it."

Princess Peach adjusts Saber's tiara. She then removes her hand from his hair and raises the back of her hand to her lips. She laughs haughtily. "Prepare yourself to be obliterated you little urchin child!" She shouts at the top of her lungs.

A bottle breaks in the back of the store, and Saber looks in that direction. He walks forward, and stops as he sees Ness walk out from the fifth aisle. He is carrying bottles of alcohol in his arms. He smiles at Princess Peach and Saber. "Yo!" He greets them and lays the bottles on the ground. "I hope you're thirsty, because I'm not old enough to drink yet!"

Saber looks at Princess Peach and she shrugs back at him. While he is distracted, Ness picks up a bottle and tosses it at Princess Peach. Saber catches it before it reaches her with his offhand and pops off the cap. He tilts the bottle at him, acknowledging the gesture. "You bring gifts. A coward, but a wise one." He smiles and takes a sip, relishing the taste of the whiskey. He then throws the bottle off to the side. "I appreciate the drink. For that, I'll make your death a quick one."

Ness sticks out his tongue. "Okay!" Ness shouts back at him, sarcastically, and Saber has no choice but to ready his sword as Ness throws two more bottles his way. Princess Peach steps back, and Saber slices the air in the form of an X. Both of the bottles shatter, leaving alcohol on the floor. Saber has little time to gloat, because Ness decides to throw three more his way. Saber slices away at them with his sword once again, and wipes his face as more of the alcohol gets on him.

"This is the last one I swear!" Ness shouts, chucking the last of the bottles.

"You're beginning to try my patience little boy!" Saber charges forward, and makes short work of the bottle, slicing it in half. He closes the distance, "You just threw your last bottle!" he shouts.

Ness rolls his eyes and raises his hands out in front of him. "Okay!" He closes his eyes. "PK Fire!" He shouts.

The air around Ness heats up and the trail of alcohol on the floor between him and Saber ignites. Saber stops in his tracks. "What is this black magic?" He asks and the fire spreads and takes him, engulfing him in flames. Ness admires the scene and takes off his baseball cap and wipes a bit of sweat off his brow.

"Saber!" Princess Peach places her hands on her cheeks. "What have you done to my Saber you little urchin!" She shouts.

Ness frowns, raising his hands once more. "PK Freeze!" He shouts, summoning a ball of sporadic ice shards.

The unstable looking ball of ice quickly makes its way toward Princess Peach who looks on in horror. She is helpless to defend herself, but a sword arrives in front of her and deflects it. The sword belongs to that of a man now covered in flames. The flames disperse, revealing an unscathed Saber as the ice shards fall from his sword and hit the floor below.

"How dare you," Saber whispers. "How dare you attempt to hit a fair maiden?" He shouts. "Have you no honor?"

Ness points at Princess Peach. "That thing over there ain't no fair maiden…that's an ugly old hag and you know it!" He defends, sticking out his tongue.

"What did you call me?" Princess Peach demands. She stomps her feet. "Ohhh he makes me so mad!" She shouts. "Kill him! Kill him!"

Saber readies his sword with a frown on his face. "Fret not." He charges at Ness with his sword ready to strike. "My Falchion will cut out his tongue!"

Ness' eyes widen and he immediately sucks his tongue back in his mouth. "PK Thunder!" He shouts and a ball of thunder rises out from behind him. The small ball of psychic energy is pathetic in size and slow in speed. With little to no effort, Saber strikes at it with his sword. The ball flies back into Ness and knocks him back into one of the shelves. The shelf topples over and Ness is covered in stale assorted cereal. Ness looks up and sees not one, but two swordsmen approaching him.

"C'mon I'll take ya both on!" He mutters in his dazed stupor. "C'mon!"

Ness tries to rise to his feet, but winces and falls backward. The two swordsmen become one and Saber points a sword at his chest. "At my Master's request, I could kill you now like the dog you are, but that would be an unfitting end." He tilts his head to the side and looks at the red gems attached Ness' wrist. "End this charade and summon your servant." Saber spits to his left and smirks. "You may be clever and elusive, but you are not the warrior I was summoned to fight."

Ness looks down at his wrist, and he remembers the Angel's explanation, "It will be difficult to control these warriors of yours without these gems attached to your wrists. You each will gain three. Use all three and your warrior will no longer obey. Use them sparingly, and only when necessary."

Ness covers his wrist, and shakes his head. "No!" He shouts. "PK!" Ness shouts and Saber kicks him in the gut. "PK!" Ness coughs out once again, struggling to get to his knees, but Saber hits him back down with the blunt side of his sword.

"Enough!" Saber shouts. "You will summon your servant to fight for you!" He aims his sword at Ness' heart. "Playtime is over! You will insult my honor no longer!"

Ness looks up at Saber, and it looks as if his left eye is swollen shut. He coughs and a little bit of blood trails down the side of his mouth. He knows he is finished, and looks down at his wrist again. On Ness' wrist he has gems, but unlike Princess Peach, Ness only has two. He closes his eyes and frowns in frustration.

"You have until the count of 5 to summon your servant." He hears Saber shout. "1!"

"What should I do, Paula?" Ness whispers.

"2!"

"Do you have a death wish, kid?" Princess Peach asks Ness. "My Saber is going to kill you if you don't hurry and summon your servant!" She says. "Gee, you sure are stubborn, kid!" She laughs, twirling a strand of hair on her index finger.

"3!" Saber shouts.

Ness shakes his head. He remembers what happened when he first summoned Caster. The angel had lied to him 48 hours prior. The capsule he gave him was useless. 24 hours before the war for the grail, and he couldn't even summon his darn servant. He tried everything from "Abracadabra" to "Open Sesame" with no avail. The stupid red and white ball wouldn't open or summon whatever a "Caster" was supposed to be.

In a last attempt to pry the darn thing open, Ness squeezes it with all his might from all sides. He even goes as far as to press the button on the front. His fingers turn red from the amount of force he is applying, but nothing happens and he screams out in frustration. A tear forms in his eyes and he throws the ball with all of his might at the wall of the apartment building he had taken shelter in. The ball hits the wall with enough force that it pops open and a beam of light erupts from it.

"Holy sticks!" Ness shouts as he shields his eyes from the light.

When he reopens his eyes a large gray alien being stands before him, and Ness immediately grabs his baseball bat from his backpack. "Alien!" He closes his eyes and emits a battle cry. He takes a swing with all his might. The hit never connects and Ness reopens his eyes. The alien looks down at him, tilting his head to the side. "I-I can't move!" Ness shouts kicking his feet and looking down. "Hey! Hey! Put me down!" Ness shouts, swinging his bat as he twirls in mid-air. "I'm getting dizzy!"

The alien allows him to fall to the floor on his face. Ness rises to his feet and his eyes widen as he feels his mind being invaded by the being standing before him. Within a matter of moments the Alien was in his head accessing all of Ness' precious memories and secrets. There was nothing Ness could do to stop him. The alien now knew everything there was to know about him. Ness feels violated, and as he stands to wipe a bit of blood from his nose he frowns at the alien.

"You didn't even ask permission!" He exhales sharply. "You can't just go surfing through people's heads like that without asking!"

"Why, do you?"

Ness opens his mouth to speak, but can't think of a rebuttal.

"Who is the one called Paula?" The Alien asks him.

Ness blushes.

"Answer me."

Ness scratches his head. "She's my friend." His eyes widen soon after. "Don't you dare tell anyone!"

The Alien stares at him almost as if bored. "I will wait for her orders." He crosses his arms. "I, Caster will be her servant."

"What!?" Ness points at his wrist. "Excuse Mr. Extraterrestrial, but it doesn't work that way. I've got the gem thingies on my wrist, and I spent 2 days trying to summon you!"

"Impossible!"

"Impossible?" Ness asks. "What's impossible?"

"You are not worthy of being Mewtwo's Master." Mewtwo points his hand at Ness. "You will make yourself useful. You will find me a suitable Master. You will find me the one they call Paula." His hand glows purple and plethora energy shoots out and wraps around Ness' neck, lifting him off his feet."

"I-impossible!" Ness chokes out. "Paula isn't alive." Tears begin to form in his eyes. "I'm trying to save her. She died trying to save me!"

"Then you are useless to me." Mewtwo's eyes narrow. "You will soon join her."

Ness shakes his head from these past thoughts.

"4!"

His face looks pale as he looks at his wrist and the missing gem. He looks up at Saber and then back down at his wrist. He only had two gems left. Caster wouldn't help him. Hell, he hadn't even offered to come to his aid at all throughout the entire fight thus far, so he really wouldn't be thrilled if he forced him to help him by using a gem. He couldn't risk wasting another gem, considering he'd probably need to use another one to prevent Caster from killing him afterward. His hands were tied and he was in a tight spot and was unsure of what to do.

"What should I do, Paula?" He whispers.

End of Chapter

A/N: I loved writing this chapter! I'll tell you why in a moment, but first let me go ahead and apologize once again for this chapter not continuing where the Samus vs King Bowser fight left off. I'm not sure if it makes sense yet, but a lot of these events are happening at the same time, prologue aside. So for the next few chapters I will be switching between these characters until they meet up at the same timeline, or else there will be time paradoxes.

And now let me just say that Ness' side of the story in this chapter is so bad ass. If you haven't noticed, I have a man crush on Ness; he is literally my go to character when playing Super Smash Bros. Hell, it probably shows in my writing. He is such an interesting character and I hope you guys enjoy the way how he is depicted in this story. He is sort of an experiment. How can a Master win the Grail without a Servant he can rely on and actually tried to kill him! I get goose bumps just thinking about it. I will say though, his chances in winning the grail WILL NOT be decided by how I feel about him in anyway.

Anyways, the next 2-3 chapters will literally ALL BE ACTION PACKED. And I'm not kidding. It's go time, and these servants and their masters are going to beat the crap out of each other.

If you don't believe me, wait and see in Chapter 3.
