Act 2: Ohana means Family

I've had pretty weird(mind my language) shit going on in my life before, like the time when I was twelve and had this weird feeling to follow a senior to somewhere after s,chool ended and it turned out the guy was distracted(why I did not know) and nearly got run over by a speeding car if not for me pulling him back onto the pavement where he was trying to illegally cross the road.

I became his idol the next day. But that's beside the point.

This event-being adopted of all things, by the Sawadas, no less-could top the cake. Well, other than the fact that I was in a fictional world. I mean, I wasn't meant to be even part of Tsunayoshi Sawada's life.

Why was I even here?

Welcome to one of the biggest mysteries of my life.(So far)

~XD~XD~XD~

'This is really dumb,' I thought as looked out of the car's window, scenery flashing by as soon as it came into view.

The Sawadas(including me now, since I'm adopted via paperwork) were on our way to the one and only Namimori Orphanage, to let me pack and pick up the stuff I owned in there(which wasn't much) and bring them back to my new home.

Waraka, bless his soul, decided that I was ready to be released a few days before the week had ended. I was literally going nuts staring at white all day(Nurse Kawasaki turned off the TV saying that it was not good for someone like me to be watching the TV all the time) since I had no form of an occupying time equipment. They didn't want to provide paper nor pencils, so I spent the next few days in bed just lying there and staring at the white ceiling. Waraka saw me lazing off and knew my recovery was fast so he did asked for an earlier timed release.

So here I am, seated next to Tsunayoshi at the backseat, thankful that I wasn't condemned to those toddler car-seater things. I still have my own pride as a fourteen-year-old(I found out that I had indeed turned younger via the mirror in the ward's bathroom) that is unfortunately stuck in many things such as a younger body. And being Tsunayoshi's new sister. And being indirectly part of the Mafia.

I think you get my drift.

Point is, Nana tried to make small conversation and previous attributes of my character from my previous life displayed an un-caring sense to what she said, with my short and curt responses(although it seemed to be much more tuned down due to me being a kid with "innocence" so Nana though I was just plain shy). Iemitsu made things even more awkward by adding in comments of the weird things he'd done at his workplace(I noted he wasn't that discreet about the facts of his other life) and/or just stating a little to-none sense in his remarks.

Nana simply laughed as Tsuna was also, like me, preoccupied with the view outside the window as the man of the household added in his opinions of a certain matter.

Thankfully we reached the orphanage fast. It was at the edge of the town where there was more space for expansion for more housing for the children. The drive had taken twenty-or-so minutes(I couldn't really tell) and you could tell I was really glad to be out of the car when I immediately unbuckled my seatbelt, swung open the car door and leapt onto the grass after it pulled into the small area meant for car parking.

I suppose my other self was kinda claustrophobic.

Nana had too, exited the car-at a much slower pace than I had-and started to make her way to the gate of the orphanage. I trotted behind her, looking back once to catch a glimpse of Iemitsu lifting Tsunayoshi from the car and shut the door of the car behind him.

I was too focused on watching the two males walk over-well Iemitsu was carrying Tsunayoshi so it was one of them walking-to notice that Nana had stopped. I bumped into her, just managing to regain my step to have Nana turn around and pull me in front of her. I came face to face with a familiar looking person.

Those blue eyes that seemed to know everything.

'Lisa?' My mind went numb.

A confused look came into the older-Lisa-lookalike. I realized I spoke that word out loud.

"Lisa? Rell-chan, have you forgotten who I am?" She questioned.

"Oh dear," Nana commented, "I did remember the doctor saying that Rell-chan has a bit of amnesia."

"Ah, I see," The woman nodded in understanding, but the look-sofamilaryetstillnot-she had-comtemplatinglooks-was still half-confused.

"Well then, Rell-chan, I'm Araki Calispsia. To you, I'm Matron Calispsia. Still," she adopted a thoughtful air, "It's the first time I heard you call me that. The other children do call me that, but you insisted on calling me on my full name."

Another flashback appeared in my head and I saw my other self communicating with Matron Calispisa, other children with blanked out faces in the orphanage calling her "Matron Lisa".

I blinked, and the images stopped.

"Now, if I'm correct, you're here to collect your belongings?" Matron Calispisa asked, and she unlatched the gate, letting us in.

I quickly ran up and pushed open the front door, toeing off my shoes and heading in the general direction where my subconscious was pulling me to. Making a left , I found myself staring at a door with a tag on it, and scrawled(rather neatly, I noted) on it was my name. Surprisingly enough it was written in English, and not in Japanese. I pushed the door open, and walked inside.

The room had four beds, shelves next to each one of them. Only one shelf was filled with some books in them. Desks were pushed to one corner of the wall, where the sunlight was shining in through a window. I then noted that I might've been the only inhabitant of this room. Heading towards the bed next to the shelf with items in it, my consciousness suddenly told me to open up the chest at the edge of the bed. Following my curiosity, I did open the chest, only to find a dark purple bag with a letter settled on top of it. I quickly snatched the letter, pocketing it into the pair of slacks I was wearing. Then I slowly heaved up the bag from the chest, but it was quickly snatched up from my arms.

I looked up to see who it was, and Iemitsu was standing there, grinning.

"I can't have you handling the heavy stuff, Rellatia-chan. Let 'tou-san do it for yah!"

I nodded slowly, then turned to look at the other people who had just entered the room. Matron Calispisa was at the door, watching us, while Nana dragged a reluctant Tsunayoshi towards us.

"That's the bag full of your items you previously packed in before, dear," Matron Calispisa commented with a smile.

"Alright then! So we're done here?" Nana cheerfully asked.

Matron Calispisa seemed to contemplate about something.

"Ah., that's right. I have something for you, Rell-chan. Would you be a dear and lead your parents to the front?" The woman, after saying this, turned around and exited the room.

I looked at my new family, and they all looked back at me expectedly.

"Follow me then," I mumbled, walking out of the room.

Once we were out, Matron Calispisa ran up to us.

"Thank god I was able to make it in time. Here, this is something your biological mother left for you."

She revealed a small white jewellery box to which she opened it and took out its contents.

It was a necklace.

An emerald triangular charm hung off it, and when Matron Calispisa moved forwards to me, it caught the sun's rays and a brilliant green colour shone off it.

Behind me, gasps of surprise were heard.

Matron Calispisa gestured for me to come towards her, and she opened the clasp, brought both ends of the string behind my neck, and attached them back. Taking a step back to admire the charm, she gave me a gentle smile. Then she handed me the jewellery box.

I stood there, stoned for a moment, and then turned around to see my new family behind me.

Nana hid a smile behind a hand, and Iemitsu gave a goofy grin. Tsunayoshi took a step foward and reached out towards the charm in curiousity. But he suddenly drew back his hand.

"A-ano... C-can I t-touch t-that?" He stumbled over his words, fidgeting in the spot he stood.

I almost aww'd at the sight, but I bit my tongue and nodded.

Tsunayoshi lifted the green charm and stared at it, seemingly mesmerized by its colour.

"Pretty..." He unknowingly breathed out, eyes lit with childish wonder before looking at me staring at him. His face turned red, and he squeaked, swiveling about to run off but I latched onto his hand quickly.

I tugged the hand I was holding, which made him face me with a scared expression-as if I was some sort of monster out to eat him. I met his eyes.

"It's okay," I spoke up, and for the first time since I came here, I smiled sincerely.

"Besides, Tsuna-kun is my new older brother, right?" I asked, looking at Tsunayoshi with a slight tilt of my head.

Tsunayoshi's blush didn't die down as he replied with a small, "U-un."

I looked back at the adults.

So these are my new parents, huh?

~XD~XD~XD~

Settling into the house wasn't that hard. We got back and Na-no, Mom-had tugged my hand and dragged me up the stairs of the Sawada home, leading me to a door. A nameplate hug on it, and scrawled rather nicely on it was Tsuna's and my name.

"You two will be sharing rooms, alright?" She told me, as Dad dumped my bag on the floor.

"... 'ka-san, 'tou-san, can I unpack my things myself?" I asked.

Somehow, Mom started sparkling and Dad had a red tinge on his face.

"Hai hai, Rell-chan! We'll leave you alone. Come down soon though, I've made snacks~" Mom sang, and pushed the bumbling idiot of my new father out.

I started opening up my bag, but then I remembered the letter.

Taking it out of my pocket, I started reading its contents.

'Dear future me,

How have you been so far? I guess you've gotten adopted, since you're reading this. Either that or you're bored.

Well either way, I really don't have much to say, except this one advice. Trust your instincts, no matter what. They've saved our lives many times, so you'd better know it. I can't say how it feels though.

I hope that you heed this simple advice.

-past you'

I blinked in astonishment. Despite being so young, my other self knew how to write such a detailed letter-save for the fact it was scrawled a bit messily. Was I a prodigy? Probably.

I shook it off, unpacking my stuff and figuring out where each thing to go. Mom was kind enough to leave a part of the cardboard sectioned off for me.

Soon I finished, sitting down with a thump, surveying my new room. It looked a bit similar to the one I saw reading the manga of Reborn!, but there were a few slight differences, like how there wasn't a desk, TV, etc.

Looking back down on the floor, I spotted the same jewelry box that held the necklace I was currently wearing. I picked it up and wondered if there was anything left inside.

I shook it once. No sound.

I shook it again, this time with force that made the lid fly off and something spill out. My eyes widened as a piece of folded paper landed on the ground. Curiousity got the better of me and I snatched it up, unfolding it.

'Dear Rellatia,'

I froze when I read that. The words were written in English, which was strange. This was Japan, and the letter I read earlier was written in Japanese. Who wrote this to me? My eyes scanned the paper again.

'Dear Rellatia,

Hello, my child. I see you've found this letter. It probably means you've come of age and learnt English as well. Let me introduce myself. I am your biological mother, Reiko Yew.'

My heart nearly stopped.

'Surprised, huh? I do hope you're doing well though. How is your family? Whatever the case, I hope you love them well.

I guess you want to know why I left you at an orphanage, and I shall tell you why.

You see, our family's line is full of a bad medical history. Weak hearts, cancer are common in our bloodline. For I, it was cancer. Lung cancer. When I had given birth to you, the doctor announced that I have less than two years to live. It seems like giving birth to you took a toll on my life, but I still wouldn't have it any other way. You are precious to me, and I hope you realize that.

Unfortunately, since my health was declining, I had to give you away, send you to my hometown's orphanage, to hope that you'll be adopted by a nice and loving family.

You may want to know about your biological father as well, I should think. Sadly, he was deceased about three months before your birth due to an accident. I shall not go into detail of it, for this is a sensitive subject to me.

My only gift to you is the necklace in the box you found this letter in. As you get older, pass it on to the eldest child of the next generation. This necklace has been passed down through our line, and shouldn't be sold off. Its worth more than you'd think it would ever be. Someone will definitely come along and make you realize that.

As you grow, remember to never yield. That is something you need to know.

I-'

"Rell-chan! Don't take your time up there or your 'tou-san will eat up all the snacks!" A feminine voice shouted from below, breaking my concentration off from the letter. An indignant ,"Hey!" was heard. I then realized it was Mom and shouted a, "Hai! I'm heading down soon!" and stuffed the letter into my pocket before standing up and walking outside to join my new family.

'-love you, my little princess.'

A/N: A thousand apologises for not updating at all, i feel so guilty now orz

Life happened with procrastination mixed in it xp

The reason why Rell's biological mom calls her "princess" is cuz there is a 'tia' added to the back of her name, which in Greek may mean "Princess" or "Goddess".

I hope my writing was up to standard umu

Thanks to TheParadoxicalOxymoron, belladu57, balabalenceh for reviewing, and a others for favouriting and following!
