And were back for chapter 3! When we left off, our adventurers, Robby and Krystal, had met a young man Named Drake and he had a Goomy with him, named Drake Jr. (Or D.J. for short). What was an initially suspenseful and upsetting encounter mellowed out as Drake explained who he was and why he attacked them. A mysterious Team Arctic was revealed and are surely up to no good? What are they planning? Well… that is for you to find out later. As we resume the three trainers are off to Cavorn Town's pokemon center to heal their friends. Here is chapter 3 everyone!
*Note: Pokémon will speak with () around their text. I will explain why later but I like to think that it would be cool if trainers could understand what they were saying.

Chapter 3: Bountiful Happiness
The three trainers were walking through a thick forest, though they remained on the path. They had been walking for hours now and it was starting to get dark out. They had originally thought that Carvorn was a few miles away a most, but were gravely mistaken. The map they had was still partially folded and they misread the distance: it was not 2 miles, it was 20. When they reached a small clearing, Ace slumped to the ground utterly exhausted. (I can't go another step), he said to no one in particular. The others stopped walking and looked at the Aron. (Get up lazy bones! We can still cover some more distance before it gets too dark). The Aron weakly growled at her. (Easy for you to say, you fat marble. You were carried most of the way. Pampered moron.) The Marill hopped out of her trainer's arms, angry. (Look here! I-), but was interrupted by Robby throwing his pack by a tree stump and falling face-first onto his it next to Ace. "He's right guys. My legs fell like PB&J's, but without the peanut butter or bread." Krystal was about to respond to his stupid analogy, but was stopped when Drake and D.J. sat down by another tree. "He's right, plus there are a lot of large pokemon that roam in this forest after dark. At least that is what I heard." Krystal was about to yell at the both of them for being lazy, but then felt the weakness in her own legs. Sitting down by a third tree, she dug out her sleeping bag and lay it on the ground. It was light blue, with bright pink swirls on the outline of the bag. John saw this in the fading light and started laughing again. "Your must really like food. Your bag looks like a giant bundle of cotton candy!" Krystal frowned and dug through her bag until she found what she wanted: an empty pokeball. Squinting her eyes to see in the fading light, she whipped the ball at Robby and hit him in the side of the head. "What the hell? What was that for?" He asked rubbing his injured head. "For being a jerk. Again. Now toss me back my pokeball. Gently," she added. Robby sighed and tossed the ball back to her landing a few feet in front of her. Bubbles walked over and picked it up, bringing it back to her trainer.
"Thanks." She whispered to her Marill and the blue ball smiled back. Krystal then remembered something. "Hey Drake, you have a sleeping bag?" she asked, listening to the sound of Robby laying his out on the ground. "No I don't." he said flatly. Krystal rummaged through her pack again and pulled out another item: a second sleeping bag. This one was purple and had an image of a black dragon head on the front. "Here." She said tossing it to him. He caught it and started to unroll it. "Why do you have two sleeping bags?" Drake asked her inquisitively. "Well, my mom bought me the blue one, but I got the purple one when some famous trainers went through our town a few years back, Robby missed that day because he was sick. I don't remember their names or anything, but I know there was a man and a woman. The woman gave me that sleeping bag as a gift for showing them around town. Well, goodnight," she said snuggling into her bag and pulled Bubbles in close for additional warmth. Drake could hear the two getting comfortable. Could it be? Mom and dad said they came to this region a few years ago. To meet a professor and an old friend. No that couldn't be right… could it? I will have to question her further tomorrow. But for now, it's time to go to bed. He cuddled his Goomy and fell into a deep sleep, the best one he had in nearly a week.
Ace slowly opened his eyes, yawned and looked around. His trainer was sleeping soundly not ten feet away. The thought crossed his mind to go rudely wake him up, but Robby let him rest when he wanted, so he at least deserved to sleep. He stretched his sore limbs and stood up. Bubbles was still asleep and so was the new, unknown Goomy. He walked around the small campsite, sniffing anything strange he came across, including Krystal's shoes, but nearly vomited at the smell of them. (How can humans stand the smell of these things? They are nasty!) (I agree, they are pretty smelly! Tee hee.) A giggling female voice behind him made him jump in surprise. He turned around expecting to see Bubbles, but was quite surprised when a small, quadrupedal, rodent looked back at him. It was light blue, with darker blue spots on her body. She also had an oversized front fang, whiskers, and a horn sticking out of her head. (Agh! Where the hell did you come from?) The small rodent stopped smiling for a moment. (It's not nice to say bad words. It makes you look silly. I came from the forest around you. I have been watching you strange people all night.) But then her smile returned. (You know, that kinda makes you sound like a stalker, or a creeper, whichever you prefer.) The little pokemon was annoyed at the comment. (I wasn't stalking you. I was watching out for you! I was making sure no big pokemon came and stole your stuff while you slept. It was my duty!) She sounded protective when she said it, but Ace wasn't interested. (Whatever. I need to get my stupid trainer up anyway.) The Aron walked over to Robby and nudged him awake, not too hard, but enough to shake him from his slumber. After groggily opening his eyes and looking at Ace, he spotted another pokemon sitting next to him. Reaching into his pack he pulled out his pokedex and pointed it at the pokemon and let it do its job. Nidoran. The Poison Pin Pokemon. Height: 1'4". Weight: 15.4 lbs. Nidoran has barbs that secrete a powerful poison. They are thought to have developed as protection for this small-bodied pokemon. When enraged, it releases a horrible toxin from its horn. This pokemon is a pure poison type. This one is female. Its known moves are: Growl and Scratch. Robby closed the pokedex. "So Ace, who is this? A new girlfriend perhaps?" Ace became angry and tackled Robby in a headlong charge, knocking him to the ground. "Totally…worth…it." He said, still struggling with his breathing. (And I let you sleep in, you ass. Last time I let you have a good night sleep.) Ace said in a huff, turning and walking away to get the others up as well. (That wasn't nice, apologize this instant!) The Nidoran huffed in anger. Ace was just about to respond, but Robby interrupted her. "No, it's alright, I deserved it." The blue rodent let out a squeal and turned around. (y-you understood me?) She said in shock. "Yea, sorry to surprise you like that. I can understand you guys if you talk loud enough. So, why are you here and not running abound in the forest?" She cocked her head and looked at the trainer with interest. (Well, I was following you for a while. See I don't see many humans around here so you peaked my curiosity. Anyway, when you made camp here, I was worried for you, so I stayed up all night making sure no one stole your things.)
Robby opened his mouth to respond, but was cut off when Ace yelled across the campsite as he nudged Krystal and Bubbles awake. (Ha! I knew it. Stalker! Stalker! Stalker!) He said, laughing at his own joke as Robby looked at him curiously and sighed. "Ignore him. He is always like this. So why didn't you run away when I woke up?" (Well… I often get bored around here, with there being nothing to do. But you three looked like fun people. So I was wondering: Can I come with you?) The question surprised Robby. Around him, life resumed for another day. Drake and Krystal were up now and stretching their limbs with their pokemon (except for D.J. as he had no limbs to speak of). "Um… I would love to take you along, but I know if I did I would make comments about you and Ace, and I don't think my body could take many more of those." The Nidoran stared at the ground, looking depressed. Robby could see this and quickly spoke up. "But that isn't to say that one of the other won't take you." The Nidoran's head perked up at this. He asked Drake, but he shook his head no. This put the Nidoran on the verge of tears. Quickly he asked Krystal as well. When she noticed the small pokemon, she squealed with delight and tossed her nearest pokeball at her. It shook once, then twice, finally three times. Then the ball stopped shaking and dinged loudly, letting everyone knew it was caught. She looked at her pokedex to see that another slot in her 'Party' menu had been filled up. She squealed again and release the Nidoran. She looked at her trainer happily. "Now," she said, petting it on the head. "We need a name for you. Hmmm… How about Guinevere, or just Gwen for short." The little rodent smiled and nodded her head vigorously. As the three trainers picked up their campsite, Gwen introduced herself to the other two pokemon that she saw. They sat back down and ate a light breakfast, snack bars for the trainers and a small dish of pokemon food for the others. Gwen happily ate with the others, but Ace had an annoyed look on his face. Robby looked up from his snack bar and notice the Aron was not eating. "Sorry, bud. That is all we have left for food till we get to Cavorn Town and restock our supplies." Ace merely grunted and went back to his small meal. After they had finished eating breakfast, they stood up and continued their walk to Cavorn.
They had walked another seven miles and the sun was high in the sky. They were wearing the same clothes that they had worn yesterday and were starting to smell a bit. Bubbles, Ace, Gwen and D.J. had been retuned hours ago to conserve their energy. They could see some of the taller buildings through the trees. All three sighed in relief. "Finally!" Crystal shouted, the two boys beside her simply nodded in agreement. Krystal started running while Robby and Drake were forced to break into a sprint just to keep up. They sprinted down a hill, but at the bottom were three kids standing in the way. Krystal had to dig her feet into the path just to stop herself. The other two weren't so lucky. They went careening into the bushes at full speed, crashing and rolling through the brush. Krystal laughed and retuned her attention to the kids in the path. "Are you trainers?" she asked. They said yes. Krystal offered to have three, separate single battles. The other three agreed. She told her traveling companions when they eventually crawled out of the bushes. Then nodded in agreement as well, dusting the dirt of their clothes. Krystal and one of the girls stepped forward and raised their pokeballs. "This is a one-on-one match. The victor is the last one standing." The girl said. They both threw their pokemon out at the same time. Gwen appeared on Krystal's side and a small green caterpillar-like pokemon, with a yellow underbelly and a red Y-shaped antenna on its head appeared across from her. "Come on, Caterpie." She said. The Caterpie looked fiercely at Gwen, ready for a fight. "Alright, Gewn. Start off with growl." (I'd be delighted to!) She said happily then growled menacingly at the Caterpie, making it more hesitant to attack. "String shot, Caterpie." The other trainer yelled. It responded by shooting a white, silky stream at Gwen, aiming to trap it where it was. "Jump!" was all Krystal had to say. With much quicker speed than anticipated, the Nidoran leaped over the stream of silk and landed on the ground, unhindered. "Scratch it, Gwen!" She ran up to the little bug and hit it in the face with her sharp claws, sending him across the dirt. After a moment, the Caterpie struggled back to its feet, but Gwen was right on top of it. "Again!" Krystal yelled. The small rodent scratched the little guy till again and again until he was laying, unmoving on the ground. (Yippie! We won our first battle!) Gwen said, running into her trainer's arms. The winnings were automatically transferred to her via the pokedex. Next it was Drake's turn. He faired just as well against a small weed pokemon called a Bellsprout, tackling it into submission. Ace had a little trouble defeating a Zubat, because it was so much faster, but eventually, he was able to lure it in and take it out to claim victory. After all the funds were collected, Robby and the others thanked the three other trainers for the battle, shook hands, and then moved on toward Cavorn Town.
An hour of walking, the entered the outskirts of Cavorn town. The buildings were mostly made of rock and stone, either free-standing or carved out of the hillside. They smelled delicious food nearby and Robby wanted to go eat, but Krystal had other plans. "You can eat later. First tend to your pokemon. Do you know nothing?" she asked rhetorically. After asking a shopkeeper for directions, they found themselves in front of a moderately large building with a square red roof with a white pokeball on the front. Entering the building, they could see that it wasn't that busy: there were about six or so other people inside, not including the staff. "Um, excuse me." Robby said as he approached the counter. The lady behind it looked up. She was wearing a pink and white dress, her pink hair was looped on each side of her head, and had white socks with pink shoes. She smiled. "Hi! I'm Nurse Joy. How can I help you three today?" She asked in a pleasant tone. "Can you heal our pokemon?" Drake asked before anyone else could answer. "Certainly! Just place you pokemon in this tray here and I will look at them right away." They placed the balls on the tray and turned to leave. "Um, Nurse Joy, is there anything to do in this town? I have never been here before." Robby asked. Drake shrugged and Krystal sweat dropped. Wow, he is an even bigger idiot than I originally thought. She said to herself. "You must have never been to this part of the region before. There is a gym here. I am not sure of the rules; you will have to ask someone else about that. I can tell you, however that Terry specializes in Ground types. Please excuse me. I need to heal your pokemon if they are to be in any more battles." With that, she walked into an adjacent room.
Robby turned to the others. "A gym here? Cool! Ace and I can take it on and get our first badge." Drake gave him a confused look and Krystal started laughing at him. "Wow, you are stupid. Ace wouldn't last ten seconds in that gym. You need another pokemon to give you a marginally fighting chance." Robby looked annoyed. "How can you say for certain? He is strong, and although a handful, he will win." Krystal smiled and laughed again. "Drake, you might want to explain this to him. I is so dense!" She said laughing and walking off. "Look at you pokedex. Look at the Pokémon section and select Ace. Then look at the Strengths and Weaknesses chart. You see it?" Robby nodded, following each step Drake gave him. "Well, see how it says Immune, Not very effective (NVE), Normal, and Super effective (SE)?" Robby nodded again and Drake continued his explanation. "Immune means that move can't touch that specific pokemon, NVE moves won't do a lot to the pokemon, Normal means those moves do normal damage, and super effective moves are extremely potent against it. There are pokemon that resist moves and ones that double resist them. On the other hand, some pokemon are weak or incredibly weak to certain moves. Ace is a rock and steel type, which means any ground-type moves will be incredibly strong against him." Robby had a look of shock on his face as he looked at the type chart. Drake put a hand on his shoulder. "You need another pokemon so you aren't utterly defeated. Plus, I don't think she," pointing to the still giggling Krystal, "will ever let you live it down." Robby looked down at the floor solemnly and stood like that till Nurse Joy came back with their pokemon. Taking their balls back, Robby asked if there were any places to catch pokemon and train around here. The nurse smiled and gave them directions to a small clearing with a pond that could possibly hold pokemon that they wanted. The trainers nodded and left the center.
They had been wandering around the clearing for nearly an hour, and still not a single pokemon in sight. It was nearing dinner time and Krystal was starting to get hungry. "Come on guys, give up. There isn't anything here." The two boys ignored her and kept searching. She stomped her foot in frustration. "Are you just going to ignore me then?" The merely nodded. "Fine! Then I'm going back myself to ger me and my pokemon some food, not to mention booking us a room, since you two were in too big of a rush to do it earlier. Stupid." She turned and headed towards the direction of the pokemon center. After she was out of earshot, Robby spoke up. "Hey, if you don't want to be here, you are free to go back. You don't have to stick with me." Drake kept searching in silence. Robby shrugged, continuing his search. They both heard some rustling in a nearby tree and let out their pokemon. The looked up, squinting in the dying light. Drake saw a shadow jump to another tree and took off after it. Robby wanted to follow, but decided against it. After all, if Drake spotted it first, it would be rude of him to try to capture it. He looked down at Ace who was looking at the wonderful nature around him. "Neat isn't it?" Robby said, trying to strike up a conversation. Ace broke from his wonderment and gave Robby an annoyed look. (Mind your own business, moron.) The armored pokemon started to walk off in the direction of a cluster of trees, Robby walking behind him. They walked silently for a few minutes when Robby opened his mouth. "Why do I get the feeling that you don't like me that much?" Ace ignored him. "Aw come on, can you give me an answer?" Robby asked insistently. (No. Kindly fuck off.) Ace said and continue walking. He was annoyed by his trainer's constant questions. Deep in thought, he wandered about, walking here and there. All along, Robby walked behind him. Ace was so enthralled with the nature around him that he failed to notice a vine stretched tightly across the ground. As he tripped over it, something pushed him from behind and sent him sprawling into a mud puddle. Robby soon followed, landing next to Ace in the mud, also failing to notice the vine. They sat up looking around and at the top of the hill they spotted their assailant: an Eevee.
It was laughing madly. "Hahahahaha that is the funniest thing all day!" The Eevee said, laughing so hard, it clutched its sides. The Aron, however, did not look pleased. (Come here you asshole! I will make you pay dearly!) He said running up the hill as fast as his little legs could carry him. The small, brown, foxlike pokemon's expression turned from happy to shocked then terrified as it realized the angry pokemon was not going to back down. It ducked and rolled to the side as Ace surrounded himself in a red aura and lunged at it. Ace missed, but sailed through the air and hit a tree, splitting it in two. He turned toward the offender and growling at it, making it nervous, as it backed up a few steps. He ran into it and sent it into the mud puddle that they were in not a minute before. It landed with a thud and skidded through the puddle, soaking its fur in mud. Ace ran back down the hill and to the edge of the puddle, where he started slapping mud in the Eevee's face. (Stop! Please, I'm sorry! Please!) It cried. Ace lunged at the brown fur ball again, preparing to tackle it into submission, when it was absorbed in a beam of red light. Ace skidded to a stop as he realized what happened. The ball shook for a few seconds, then stood still. Robby picked it up and pulled the pokedex out of his pack. Eevee. The Evolution Pokémon. Height: 0'11". Weight: 14.5 lbs. Eevee has an unstable genetic makeup that suddenly mutates due to the environment in which it lives. Radiation from various stones causes this Pokémon to evolve. This pokemon is a pure normal type. This one is female. Its known moves are: Tackle, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, and Baby-Doll Eyes. He released the pokemon. She looked at her surroundings and then at Robby curiously, but when she caught sight of Ace, she ran and hid behind the nearest tree. "Hey, you can come out now. He won't hurt you, he was just overly upset, that's all." Ace glared at him, but he ignored it. She poked her head out from her hiding place. (Are you sure?) Robby nodded, but then looked at Ace to see if he would stay by Robby's word. He grumbled something, that Robby was pretty sure were profanities, but reluctantly nodded his head. She slowly walked up to Robby and looked at him. He seemed nice enough and didn't get angry at her pranks although the pokemon beside him did. Robby broke the silence. "What is your name?" he asked. The Eevee looked at him in utter shock. (Wait, you could understand me before!?) Robby nodded again and smiled at her. "Yea, it's a gift that I have. Not sure how I got it though." (Oh. Wow! Finally someone I can talk to! My name is Grace by the way.) Robby picked her up and she snuggled into his arms. "What a lovely name. Let's get you cleaned up. Both of you. Come on, Ace. Let's get back. I'm sure their worried about us." They started walking in the direction of the pokemon center.
The door to room 203 opened and two figure walked in. Drake and Krystal turned to see who had entered their room. The muddy Eevee jumped out of Robby's arms and ran up to the other pokemon relaxing around the room, introducing herself to everyone else, forgetting all about what took place twenty minutes earlier. Robby walked up to the others, caked in mud. "Whats's up you two? Do anything interesting while I was gone?" Robby asked. Krystal was the first one to answer. "Well, since you took so long, we had to bring some food up to the room, since the dining room was closing. You look and smell like a swamp." She looked down to the happy Eevee talking with the others. "I see you didn't suck enough not to capture another Pokemon. What is her name?" Grace looked up and barked something at Krystal before returning to the others. "It's Grace. She told me herself." Robby said. "She is cute, but she would look even better with a bath. That goes for you and Ace as well." She walked over to Gwen and started to pet her. Krystal had on green pajama pants with a Chikorita pattern and a green long-sleeved, fuzzy, green sweater. Robby shrugged and turned toward Drake, who was wearing a purple t-shirt and boxers. "You catch anything?" he asked. "Yes. In the corner. His name is Shadow and he will help me on my journey. He didn't say anything, but I have a feeling. The strange thing is, after I chased him for about fifteen minutes, he climbed down and looked at me for a moment. Then he hopped up to me and extended his hand. It was kind of weird, but a friend's a friend, right?" Robby noticed something move in the corner of the room. He looked over to see a light blue frog with white bubbles around his neck. When Robby noticed him he nodded and entered his pokeball. "Sorry about that. He doesn't say much." Drake said, forcing Robby to look back at him. "All pokemon have different personalities, just like people. I still learning to run with it." He said, looking at Grace, then at Ace. "Come on, you two. Time to get you cleaned up." Robby said, gesturing to the bathroom. All three entered and shut the door. Drake and Krystal got into their separate beds and turned off the lights. The door opened a few minutes later and Robby walked in, followed by two much cleaner pokemon. Robby almost made it to the bed, but tripped over a rambunctious Grace, and fell flat on his face. Laughter broke out in the room, as everyone who was not already asleep poked fun at his predicament. "Ya, ya. Laugh it up. What do you guys want to do tomorrow?" he asked, climbing into his own bed. The Eevee jumped up on next to him, but Ace, realizing that he might break the bed, laid on the floor, next to him. Through giggles Krystal spoke. "I was thinking about doing some training to prepare for the gym. Drake, what about you?" Drake cleared his throat. "Yea, that sounds good to me. Goodnight you guys." The others said goodnight as well and closed their eyes. Tomorrow was going to be a long day.
Sorry, that took me a while to write. How did you like it? Each of them now have two pokemon under their belt and they are just getting started. How do you think their training session tomorrow will be? It looked like that at the end of the day, Ace respected Robby more, or just thought he was slightly less of a complete moron. But I could be wrong. What do you guys and girls think about the characters, battle scenes, or anything else for that matter? Let me know if you want a list of characters and their pokemon (and names) if you get confused and I will post it at the beginning of the chapter. And as always, feel free to ask questions, follow, PM me, rate, review, or whatever strikes your fancy. Aggron Prime out. Peace!
