As Emma slept, she dreamt.
Regina moved toward so fast, it seemed as if she flew, a purple cloud of hate and venom spewing from her. Her beautiful face was twisted in fury, and she had a murderous glint in her eyes. When she spoke, her voice was harsh and full of malice.
"I want MY SON" she spat.
Emma jerked backwards, falling over a tree that had been ripped out of the ground hastily and tossed aside. Her eyes darted around her, taking in the scenery. A part of her realized that this was not really happening, but she had an uneasy feeling that this was more than a dream. That this was something that was entirely possible.
It looked like the woods right outside of Storybrooke, but she knew better than to assume anything. For all she knew, she could be back in the Enchanted Forest. Instead she focused on the woman crouching down at her, their faces separated by a few inches.
Regina reached out and grasped Emma's face and hissed "Henry is MINE."
Emma strained to pull her face away, but that only prompted Regina to squeeze harder. She bent her face to her ear and whispered "You will pay with everything and everyone you love. Do not underestimate me." On the last word she roughly released Emma's face and turned and strode away. Emma was left trying to regain her breath and slow her heart down. The first thought in her head after all was said and done was Henry.
She stood on shaking legs, steadying herself against the damp bark of the tree she had fallen over. She needed to find her way back to him. But if she was in a dream, wouldn't she just wake up? She focused her energies on waking up, but after a few moments had gone by, she realized that it wasn't going to happen.
From somewhere behind her she heard a faint whispering of her name. She turned quickly, looking for the source, but found herself surrounded by nothing but forest, the dark pressing in on her.
"Emma."
She spun around again. In the far distance she saw a light, a hazy blue color. It was soon joined by another, a little closer. And then another, and another. Soon, there was a string of blue lights, and when the closest one popped up about 10 feet away from her, she could see what it was. It was a flickering blue flame floating inches above the ground.
She walked slowly towards them, hesitant to get closer to them. When she got close to it, it disappeared, and the next flame grew brighter. With each flame disappearing the voice seemed to be coming from nowhere and everywhere at the same time.
"Emma!" She ran forward, panting slightly, pushing her way through weeds and tall grass that seems to tangle around her, tripping her with every step.
"Emma!" The voice was louder, sharper, yet she couldn't decipher if it was male or female.
"Emma!" The floating blue flames were disappearing fast. She broke through a ring of trees to a small clearing. At the center of it was a stone well.
I know where I am. A single blue flame floated above the wall. She stepped forward slowly her eyes darting along the edge of the trees, preparing herself for whatever might come at her.
She stepped up to the well and peered into it, seeing nothing but blackness. The flame extinguished, there was one last "Emma!," and she was plunging into the darkness of the well, tumbling like Alice down the rabbit hole. The wind bit at her face and she braced herself as she approached the bottom.
The last thought through her head as she fell was Neal.
