Chapter 3: Your Move
The more Matt tried driving home the point that he and Alexa were just having a normal conversation, the more he continued to get teased for it.
"And here I thought my debut night would go off without a hitch." Matthew said facepalming. Dean shrugged.
"It could be worse." He said. "You could hog tie The Undertaker with a bunch of dudes in black masks and then a bombing could occur the next day, then get released." Dean laughed. Matt snickered.
"That guy was an idiot with the promo he cut the week after...can't even remember his name." Matt remarked. Dash sniggered.
"I think that's the point." He said. Seth scratched his head.
"What was up with Alexa flirting with you anyway?" He questioned. Scott looked up.
"Rumour has it that her and Murphy's relationship is on the rocks. Maybe that could be it." Scott said with a mouthful of his hamburger.
"Seems like probable cause." Matt said raising an eyebrow. Dash shrugged.
"Who knows. With Alexa, hearts can be broken quick. If you turn out to be lucky...I'd be worried about having Murphy ticked off at you." He remarked. Dean nodded.
"That's true, but you gotta remember he hasn't been doing jack on 205 live. He lost to Cedric the other day." Dean said. Matt slammed his fist on the table.
"Can you guy's cut it out and get me some water?" He said as he was trying to down his Ghost wings. Seth facepalmed.
"Here we go again." He groaned.
Days Later….
Starting to work more live events in simple contests against people like Mojo Rawley, Apollo Crews, and his new rival in Elias, Matthew started to gain more respect amongst those on the Raw roster.
Before his scheduled Raw debut match against Elias in Little Rock Arkansas, Matt recieved a phone call from Candice.
"This is Storm?" Matthew said answering the phone.
"Hey Matty." Candice said. Matt took notice in her excited tone.
"You sound excited...and stop calling me Matty." He laughed. "What's up? I'm out in 5 minutes."
"Just wanted to let you know something. Apparently the rumours about Murphy and Alexa's breakup are on the verge of being true!" Candice said. Matt scoffed.
"And you're telling me this now before I gotta bash Elias' head in?" He said. Candice laughed on the other hand. Matt swore he could hear Johnny yelling at his TV on the other end about the Cleveland football game.
"Just figured you needed some motivation." Candice teased before hanging up the phone.
Matthew looked in the mirror and frowned. Though he wasn't wearing face paint, he took notice in the small scar the was above his left eye. Though still slightly fresh after he lost to Lars Sullivan 3 months ago in a No Holds Barred match, he earned Lars' respect following that fight.
"Yo Matt!" Dean shouted. "You ready?"
Matthew looked up as he put on his leather jacket.
"Ready." He said.
Stepping out into the arena as his new theme music, "Black Sheep" by Saliva pounded through the arena speakers, he smirked as he walked down to the ring to face Elias once again.
Giving the fans high fives all around, Matthew soaked in the crowds energy as he leaned against the ring ropes.
"This is what it's all about!" He yelled as he stretched out his arms as if he was embracing the energy. Turning around to step into the ring. Matthew was greeted instead by Elias' guitar right to his skull.
Matt's bell was rung severely, and he tasted blood in his mouth. Falling down onto the canvas, he could hear the crowd jeering angrily at Elias as he gloated over his fallen form. Matt removed his jacket and tried sitting himself up in the corner, but the pounding ache in his head and the ringing in his ears held him down as he pressed his head against the middle rope.
Sensing the ref grab his hands, Matthew stood himself up, ignoring the pain for a brief moment.
"Can you fight?" He asked. Matt nodded repeatedly, though he didn't hear what the referee had said. Rubbing his eyes and spitting the blood out of his mouth, he tried to focus.
It returned the second the bell rang.
Fully ignoring all the pain he was feeling, Matthew charged at Eliad and clotheslined him so hard, he turned The Drifter inside out.
Matthew screamed angrily at the crowd, who loved every second of his rage. Without any shred of mercy, Storm grabbed Elias and planted him once more with "Crimson Dawn".
Storm covered. 1..2..3. The debut match was ended as quickly as it began.
Matthew leaned against the ropes, his face scratched from the guitar wood, but he paid no attention to it as he raised his fist in the air as his music played over the speakers. Michael Cole took note Matthew's ability to tolerate extreme pain. Corey added that it looked like he flew into a blood rage.
Matthew didn't care. Looking back at his fallen enemy, he scoffed as he walked out and backstage, not speaking to anyone.
Grabbing a towel full of ice, Matt sat down and buried his face in it to numb the pain. It started working, but his thoughts were broken when he was approached by some other superstars, the Authors of Pain.
"Hey fellas." Matt said as he stared at the floor.
"That was rough." Akam commented.
"How you holding up?" Rezar asked. Matt snickered.
"Other than feeling like I'm being stung by hornets, I'm fuckin' peachy." Matthew said. Rezar raised an eyebrow.
"Drake's got some more ice coming on the way for you. Doesn't look like a concussion though." He noted. Matthew scratched his head.
"I can only assume I'm facing that bastard at Extreme Rules right?" Matt groaned as he leaned back.
"We'll find out. See you later M." Akam said as he and Rezar trudged off to head to their match. Matthew shook his head and stood up and regained his senses. The ache in his skull was wearing off, but what caught him off guard was Alexa walking by towards her locker room.
As if she didn't notice the small scratches on his face, she winked at him before walking away. Any other guy would have fainted.
But Matthew knew better.
She made her move the other night. Now it was his turn.
And done! Hope you guys liked this chapter, I'll see you all in the next one
