"The 37-year-old Fujiki Mstuhamu was arrested moments ago," April O'Neil's voice proudly projected through the TV screen, absorbed by all in the wide, rectangular room. "He has been unmasked as the elusive bomber shaking the foundations of the city over the last few weeks. After a great deal of time and dedication, the NYPD were able-"

"GAAAAHHHHH!"

Karai turned her head so the shards of broken plasma screen didn't catch her in the face. Yaka had turned as well and Karai caught the quiver in his face. He had been the one in charge of the operation... it had been his job to control Fukiji. Karai suddenly found herself grateful that she had not been in charge. Yaka, however... he had been hoping for this chance...

"Master Shredder!" Yaka cried out as a gloved hand pinched into his shoulder. The Shredder released a thin blade from his gauntlet, allowing it to pierce beneath Yaka's clavicle. The pain brought Yaka to his knees in front of their unmasked master. Karai put herself back at attention, posture straight and eyes forward. Even so, through her peripheral, she could see the Shredder's veins puffed with the same red rage as his scars, staring down upon his solider.

"I allowed my vendetta to cloud my judgement in formulating our newest attack." he growled. Karai flicked her gaze away when he turned his head to her. "Something on your mind, Karai."

"My lord," Karai jumped at the chance, none of the hope springing to her face. "It was my recommendation-"

Shredder stopped her with a raise of her other hand. His wrath was back on Yaka now. "For my judgement, I take the blame. But the shame of defeat-" he bore his blade farther beneath Yaka's skin. "Rests with you, Yaka."

"Master-" Yaka attempted to speak.

"The Foot Clan has no room for such shame." Shredder pulled back his glove... only to plow the entire thing through his chest in the next instant. Karai's own chest grew tight., but she stayed as she was. She had seen the Shredder kill before; none enough to warrant a reaction from her. But then, none had ever been one of their own. Yaka fell to the floor, blood spilling across the carpet. Shredder stepped over his body, toward Karai. He laid out an expectant hand and from the side, he received a rag. He paused in front of Karai, taking his time in cleaning the dark red blades. Karai felt the fear off the soldiers behind her. They would spread word through the ranks and loyalty to the Shredder would grow, become more compact.

But there could've been other ways- Karai halted herself. There was no questioning the Shredder. Not even for Yaka?

She gave him a moment to finish, and herself the seconds to gain composure. "Your orders... Master Shredder?"

His tone told her he was pleased with her choice of words. He inhaled deeply. "We are aware of who was behind Fukiji's capture. I grow tired of these circles we run around each other."

Leonardo. And why would he be the first for Karai to think about? It wasn't just him that blocked Shredder's control of this city. It was the four of them, their monkey mechanic friend, O'Neil, and Emma... a bother in Japan and a bother now. They were all obstacles. Leonardo however... he was her one defiance of the Shredder. He lived... and she couldn't help but feel relieved somehow. If Master Shredder were to ever learn the truth-

"New York has been our battleground for too long," Shredder observed after his ominous pause. "It is time that we change that."

Yeah it's short, but I tend to divide my chapters by POV, so there you go. Thoughts on moving forward with Karai and Leo? I know they're a familiar pairing, but I might have a few twists and turns to give them.
