The Living Hell

Chapter 3:

Two weeks had past since I moved Forks, I had talked to Edward for the first week, we got a long like hot chocolate on a cold day, but I found myself falling for him the more time I spent with him,, and I couldn't. So I spent the past week avoiding him, I sat with Angela and Jessica at lunch, Edward, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie and Emmett would look over at me. I dreamt of Edward at night and slapped myself with cold water in the morning, hoping to get rid of the memories and dreams and more importantly, my feelings.

Groaning as I walked into the cafeteria, I seen Edward at my table with Jessica and Angela. He was talking to them, Angela looked shocked and Jessica looked like she was about to have a heart attack. I got my lunch and instead of sitting with Jessica and Angela, I steered to the back table and sat on my own. I ate my salad, looking at Edward out of the corner of my eye. He stood, walking to where I was sitting, gazing down at he table to avoid him I heard the chair open and someone sit down.

"Bella," Edward said.

I glanced up and he was looking down at me seriously. "Edward," I sighed. "I can't." I said. I really do care about him and this just proves he cares about me.

He grabbed my hand. It was cold, ice cold. "Bella, stop avoiding me.'

I met his gaze. "Edward," I whispered. Looking around before I continued. "I kill vampires and you're a vampire" I sighed. "Why are we even discussing this? I should've killed you when I seen you."

"But you didn't," he simply replied, looking sheepishly down at the table.

I sighed. "Don't get me wrong, I do like you. But..."

He looked up at me, a glint in his eye. "Then give me a chance."

"I can't." I looked at him, feeling a pang in my chest. I pulled my hand out from underneath his and looked away. Instantly missing how his hand felt against mine.

He stood up and walked away and my heart sunk a little further. The rest of the day passed in a blur and I sat in Bio, we were doing blood samples, I forgot. I watched as everyone pricked their finger. Looking down at my vial, I inched back. Edward wasn't in Bio today, probably because everyone was pricking their fingers. I pulled my newly sanitized dagger out of my holster and held it above the vial, I made an incision on my finger and let my blood pour inti the vial, slipped my dagger into it's holster and took it up to the teacher. When I sat back down I felt a sharp pain along my thigh, realizing I didn't secure it properly. My breath hitched in the back of my throat, grabbing my things I ran out of the classroom. I was running along the parking lot, blood gushing from my leg, I lifted my skirt to see a wound that would definitely need stitches. I gave myself stitches all the time but didn't have my med bag with me. I seen Edward walking across the parking lot. He stiffened, straightening his spine, looked over at me, eyes wide and black. In a dash he was right in front of me, just before I feinted.

When I came to, I opened my eyes to a strange room. I looked around rapidly. Edward was in the corner, furthest from me, eyes still black, with hunger. "Edward," I moaned groggily.

"Bella," he looked up at me. "What happened?"

"I didn't holster my dagger properly," I sat up, realizing I was just in an oversize shit that came mid-thigh. I bit my lip, pulling up the hem to count 24 clean stitches along my thigh. I sighed. "I could've done my own stitches."

At that moment a pale, blonde hair man walked into the room, smiling, his eyes a golden colour. "But that wouldn't be necessary when there's a perfectly capable doctor," he said to me.

"Bella, this is Carlisle-my adoptive father," Edward said. "The one who turned us."

I was confused and groggy. "You're a doctor?" I asked Carlisle. "But what about the blood?"

He smiled. "I understand your confusion but I have more compassion than to give into selfish instincts. I'd rather help people than drink from a human. Supressing an instinct to do what I love."

My whole body radiated with shock. "Wow, that'd take a great deal of self-restraint, it's admirable."

"I'm glad you think so, Bella," he replied courteously. "So Edward and my family have told me much about you and the deal you offer us. It's very generous but I can promise you, neither I or my family will harm a human."

"Alice can see the future, she'd stop it,' I told him.

At that Alice came dancing in the room. "Bella!" she crowed. Skipping up to me and hugging me. "It's so great to see you! Mmm you do smell delicious!"

"Alice," Edward scolded, rising from his chair to step in front of her.

"I wasn't going to do anything. Plus if I tried anything, she'd kill me, even injured," she mused.

I smiled. "I'm glad you don't underestimate my abilities."

My leg was bruised all along the outside of my cut. I stood up, stopped to wheeze a little. "So I haven't strained or broken any ligaments?" I asked Carlisle.

He smiled. "Everything is fine. You should be alright to continue your training in a week or so, but you'll want to bandage it and change them every so often." I nodded.

A woman with chestnut brown hair walked in, she had a heart shaped face, kind golden eyes and pale skin, with a lovely smile. Everything about her screamed "mum". "You must be Bella!" she said, coming up to hug me.

"Bella this is my mother-Esme-for all intents and purposes," he chuckled slightly.

"It's good to meet you," I told her. Being in a house with this many vampires set me on edge and I found my thumb inching towards my dagger strapped to my hip. I knew it was still there because I could feel it against my skin.

"Bella," Alice said, looking at me exasperated. "I know you're going to give us some excuse to go home but please stay!"

Jasper stood in the doorway. "Alice, she's on edge, leave the girl be. Being in a room with this many vampires makes her uncomfortable. I don't have to read minds to guess it's because of us."

I groaned. "Can't anything be left a secret around yous?" I grumbled, causing Edward to laugh.

"Come on, let us give Bela some privacy," Esme said, looking at me fondly and with understanding written clear on her face.

They all left the room, except Edward. "I know you trust me," he said.

I snapped. "How would you know that?"

He smiled. "Because if you didn't feel safe around me you wouldn't have let yourself feint in front of me."

I held my head high. "A girl can't help who she feints around."

He chuckled. "True but you called my name "

"I don't remember?" I told him, confused

He walked up to me, taking my hand in his. "I let Alice dress you in my shirt," he said, looking slightly embarrassed.

I smirked. "Didn't wanna see an unconscious girl naked, huh?"

He laughed. "I wanted to give you privacy," he said then brought his face to my ear. "But if you're offering." He whispered the last part.

I couldn't help but giggle as I looked up at him. He was smiling. Not long later he drove me home and I went to bed, dreaming of him, I woke up, gasping, it was still dark, from the glow of the moon I could slightly make out Edward's features.

"Edward?" I asked and he stepped forward looking embarrassed. "What are you doing here?"

He smiled shyly. "I like to watch you sleep." He sat on the end of my bed looking at me.

I blushed, I was still wearing his shirt from earlier today, it smelt like him, and it gave me a guilty pleasure. I sat up, and he seemed to be fully aware of what I was wearing, his eyes travelling down from my face to my body. His eyes lingered to where I had the buttons undone to my belly button. I sat up on the edge of my bed, wanting to be closer to him, his eyes made their way back to mine and his face went serious. "I want to try something. Don't move "

My breath hitched in my throat as he brought his face down to mine. His lips brushed mine, ever so softly. He pulled back and smiled. The shock left me after a second. I wound my fingers through his hair, pulling his face to mine and kissed him, harder. I felt his tongue slide against my bottom lip, his hands gripped my waist as he pulled me up, I wrapped legs around his waist as he walked over to the bed, pinning me on it, him lying on top of me, kissing me like I was oxygen. A growl erupted from his throat and I realized what was happening. I was kissing a vampire. What the hell? I pushed him back as he sprung back and hit the opposite wall. He looked down ashamed. "Y-you can't do that," I said, my voice unsteady.

"I can't ever lose control around you," he said. The realization of what he meant hit me, he lost control and the venom they produced when feeding was just in his mouth as he was kissing me.

I sighed, still wanting to kiss him. He moved towards the window. "Don't leave," I surprised myself by saying, and I really meant it.

He looked up at me shocked. "Really?"

I petted the spot on my bed next to me and he slowly walked over and sat down next to me. I lied down and he did the same. Against my better judgement, I scooted closer to him, draping my leg over his and cuddled him, falling to sleep to him chuckling, wrapping his arm around me to rest on my ass and I cuddled in closer. Darkness filling my dreams.
