Nation's Child

Chapter 3

It had been a week since the last world meeting, and at the end of the month, the warm September days were coming to a close as the chilly nights of October were preparing to make it's appearance. The leaves were turning as the orange color of the month took over most of the earth and people were dragging out their heavy coats, if they haven't already, fall had officially arrived.

Over in Austria, Roderich's household was oddly quiet for once, the soothing tone of Austria's piano filling the corridors, as Hungary went about her normal chores.

There Prussian that resided there, always disturbing the silence, was out at the moment. Roderich and him were at each others throats, again. While this wasn't unusual, it left the household with a lonely feel when the lively white haired man stormed out, either heading to his brother's house, by privet plane, in Germany, to annoy him, or to a bar that was close by.

Hungary knew they would make up, being lovers for some time now, they always did, but that didn't help the current sadness that she felt while finishing dusting the paintings on the wall. It seemed Austria was feeling the same, if the soft notes of his music was anything to go by.

Walking down the hall, feather duster in hand, her brown heels clicking on the tile floor, she came up behind Austria, who sat at the Grand Piano.

"Austria, if you miss him that much, why don't you go and bring him back?," Elizabeta put a comforting hand on his shoulder.

Resting his fingers on the keys, Roderich replied,"No, when he wants to talk like a civilized adult, he can come back on his own,"

Sliding the seat back, making Hungary take a step back, her hand falling to her side, he stood up. " Is dinner ready?," he questioned, wanting to change the subject.

"Almost, I was just getting ready to set the table," turning around she walked back out the door, intent on heading to the dinning room. She stopped at the doorway when she heard Austria's voice. "If it makes you feel any better, I'll call him after we eat, to make sure he's fine," his back to her, looking out the large clear windows, he pushed his glasses up, a light red dusting on his cheeks. A smile touching her lips, all she said was, "Thank you," before disappearing down the hall. Roderich was glad to calm Hungary's nerves, she had been acting not her self for a couple of days, but that wasn't the only reason for him to call Gilbert, he had something important to discuss with the man. Austria sighed, letting a hand fall to his stomach, before turning and following Hungary to the dinning room.

True to his word Austria did call Prussia and the conversation did nothing to calm him. After the phone rang a few times, Roderich heard the gruff voice of his lover, meaning the harsh tone of the cell had woken Gilbert up from a nap.

"Where are you, Elizabeta is getting worried," Austria was worried to, but he would never admit it, and neither would Prussia, they both had to much pried, conversations like that were reserved for privet occasions.

"Pft, I'm over at West's house," he replied hotly, still mad over the fight, even if he couldn't remember what it was they were fighting about, all he knew was that he wasn't proven right. " Ludwig and Feli are already getting gender neutral colored furniture for their kids room and they had some how roped the awesome me into helping," Even if the Italian was only five weeks along , he's been so excited with the thought of a little baby that him and Germany made he couldn't stop talking about it.

"There's something I need too tell you, it's very important to both our futures, so I need you to listen," Austria tried to say.

"Can't you tell me tomorrow, it's getting late, I'll just bunk at Germany's for the night,"

Austria sighed, he had been trying to tell Gilbert the news all week but somehow the Prussian kept on managing to change the subject before Roderich could muster up enough courage to get the words out of his mouth.

"That's fine," Austria grounded out, lie, not only did he want to tell Gilbert he carrying his child, but Roderich had gotten use to the warmth of the buffer man wrapped around his back, the bed felt cold without the Prussian beside him.

After hanging up, Roderich slumped onto the bed, placing the phone and his glasses on the night stand, he rubbed his temples with his thumb and forefinger. Laying down he rolled over to Gilbert's side of the bed, and snuggled up in the chilly covers, his mind reeling with how he was going to tell Prussia he was pregnant.

Short chapter is short, but I've rewritten this chapter I don't know how many times, and I'm finished with it. I've never written Austria and Prussia before so I don't know how well I captured their personality, but hopefully I'll get better at it in the future. :)

Jillzy17: I'm glad you like it, and no the guys will not be giving "natural birth", they will most likely be having C-sections, the two girls will be the only one's giving "natural birth".

Amy Kitty Katz: Yeah! Three of my favorite Hetalia pairings, so of course they were going to be in the story.
