Mio Zio! Chapter Three

Disclaimer: I do not own Repo! The Genetic Opera or its affiliated characters. I do however own my OC: Isabel Leóm.

Isabel reluctantly hung on to Luigi's hand as they walked along the darkened streets just outside of the Largos' mansion. Her zio, Pavi, would have been taking her trick-or-treating himself, but he told her that he had business to attend to. Naturally, Isabel was upset but it was not like her to cry and carry on. She knew it would only upset her uncle more.

No, she simply silently accepted the fact that he could not join her and hoped that Luigi was not too angry with her.

"Hurry up, brat!" Luigi barked. "The sooner we get done, the sooner we can go home."

Isabel sighed sadly but nodded obediently all the same. "Sí, mio zio."

With Luigi dragging her along, they finally reached the first house. "Trick or-a treat!" Isabel exclaimed with a grin.

"Oh, well look at you! I simply adore your angel costume," the woman smiled and placed several large candy bars into her bag. "Happy Halloween, darling."

The very moment the candy bars hit the bottom of the bag, Luigi rolled his eyes in irritation and grabbed Isabel's arm. "Come on!" he snarled.

Isabel's face scrunched up in displeasure as Luigi continued to rush her and yell after each house. But she knew better than to complain. She had seen what her other uncle sometimes did to the Genterns when he was angry. . . and it frightened her. At a very young age, she had learned not to cry, at least not around him.

At the end of the block of houses, they reached an especially done-up building. Skeletons and gravestones littered the front porch and several ghoulish creatures lay in wait there. Isabel's eyes widened and she hugged Luigi's leg, too frightened to go any further.

Luigi pried her off of him frustratedly. "Get your candy so we can go already!"

Still, the little child would not budge. Angrily, Luigi stomped up to the very front of the house and grabbed a fist full of candy. He was about to walk back down the steps when Isabel screamed as a man with a chainsaw came out of the garage. Forgetting everything else, she hid behind Luigi with tears streaming down her face.

"Mio zio, l'uomo cattivo sta per farmi del male!" she cried.

"Hey, what's the big idea?" Luigi yelled. "Now I'll never hear the end of it from this brat!"

The man turned off the chainsaw and lifted up his mask. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Mr. Largo. I-I didn't know it was you. . . It was a Halloween prank, that's all."

"Does it look I'm laughing?" Luigi glared, hands flexing. He was halfway threatened to take out his knife but he knew he'd only hear grief from his sister. He could hear her now: "Luigi, what were you thinking?! It's bad publicity!"

As if her still being addicted to Zydrate wasn't bad publicity, he inwardly scoffed.

"I-I'm really s-sorry," the man stammered, fully aware of Luigi's violent temper.

Luigi pinched the bridge of his nose and took several deep breaths, just like his therapist had taught him. When his heart beat had calmed to a more normal rate and when he could no longer see red, he turned to the man with a fierce glare. "Don't apologize to me, you peasant. Apologize to her!"

The man immediately turned to Isabel and stammered out an apology. "I-I'm s-so sorry, Miss Largo. I-It won't happen again."

Isabel reluctantly showed her face and wiped her tears away, slightly confused. Why, this man seemed to be afraid of her. . .

"I-It-a is all right," she said.

"Now, come on. Let's get out of here before I end up stabbing someone," Luigi said angrily. He began to walk quickly down the street but this time he did not grab Isabel's arm.

Silently thanking God for the relief, she ran behind him. Her candy bag bounced with every step and her halo became a bit skewed. When she finally caught up to him, she tried to match his pace as best as he could.

"M-Mio zio?" she asked softly after a few yards.

"What?" he barked.

Isabel winced and looked downwards before saying, "T-Thank-a you."

Luigi looked down to stare at the child and sighed. "You're welcome," he replied softly.

This surprised Isabel. He was not yelling at all. . . and he didn't call her a brat like she was so accustomed to.

Isabel smiled at him and held onto his hand, by choice this time, as they made their way back to Geneco. Perhaps her uncle was not as terrible as she had previously believed.

"Tell the masked freak about this and I'll rip out your tongue," he said.

But this did not bother Isabel in the slightest. She smiled brightly at him with twinkling blue eyes and made a motion of zipping her lips closed and throwing away the key.

And, to her delight, Luigi gave her a slight smile in return.

A/N: First of all, I wish to say that I am so so SO sorry. I know the update has come pretty late. I've been packed with work lately and preoccupied with my other fanfictions plus Hannibal Lecter kinda ate my muse for this story. . . though I know those are not excuses. I really am sorry but I do hope that you enjoyed this chapter.

As always, I wish to thank all those who have favorited, followed, and reviewed this story and I wish to thank KelciLynn for suggesting that I add more Luigi into this. Surprisingly, I enjoy writing for him.
